Fast becoming a favourite channel. Love the long-form videos. I’d like to see an Epic Evo gen 7 tear down.

Can't wait for the Epic 8 breakdown. Have now the previous Epic with brain and really curious to know what the differences are and if upgrading is worth it. The terrain I'm riding is mostly flat (Netherlands) and often have discussing with others that fully's are overkill. Now with the 120mm trend, that discussion is now even more hot. Keep up this kind of video's. Really appreciated.

It also has a steer stop built in along with multiple mounting points on the frame and it's Factor's first mtb as well. SUCH an AWESOME video (I have a new BC40 and am considering Flight Attendant). Question: For XC race on not very techy 1:45hr course with plenty of short punch hills... Assuming both bikes are setup with Flight Attendant and light wheels ... what bike would you pick Epic 8 or BC40? BTW - I agree the BC40 feels a little 'big'....I am working on knocking down my bars with a more aggressive drop stem.

@maxsmith3335 sure , but these new xc bikes allow you to hit bigger drops and gaps that are simply too harsh for a rigid.. my bc40 is built closer to the trail bike realm giving me the best of both worlds up or down.

When you had the bike completely disassembled, would’ve been a great time to polish the frame. Be surprised how many of the little scratches would come out with a little bit of compound and Elbar grease

Mach4SL with FA as a comparison as well.
@bicyclestationАй бұрын
The Mach 4 is cool. I think it’s for people who love the dw link. I’m not the biggest fan of the dw personally. I always feel like the suspension is too active when I ride them. I do think it’s good, but I’d much prefer a flex stay that also fit two water bottles for my needs.

I’d love to know which bike you find more stable at speed in chunky and fast trails? I race Cat 1 XC, hoping to bump up to elite in a year or two, but come from enduro and DH and my local trails are legit DH trails and love races like Downieville, ST6, etc. I know these are still XC bikes but I have the new Mach 4 which is great for racing but it feels so sketch at speed thanks to a short-ish reach and small chainstay.

Love these long form videos. Came across your channel when I was looking for Epic 8 and BC40 reviews, as I am deciding between the two for my next bike. Is a pedal sensor just as reliable as a power meter when considering flight attendant. I need a 30T chain ring and heard that the smallest you can use with the Quarq is a 32.
@bicyclestationАй бұрын
Pedal sensor works but isn’t as good as the power. You can run as small of a chainring as you want. Just depends on what meter you go with. Email me at sales@thebicyclestation.com if you wanna get a build going!

What bearing extractor/press kit is that? I’ve been looking for one to redo bearings on my bikes for forever and never can find one that seems to do what this one can. I’ve had to settle with sockets and a makeshift press. 😂😂

@LowFlyingHawkАй бұрын
In the comparison I’d like to know which is better suited for non-racers. No plans to race and will be my only mtb, and also want to bike pack. Since I’m not racing, i don’t need flight attendant, so would also curious to hear thoughts on how each bike performs without flight attendant. Where im at there, there are a lot of big climbs and down can be chunky so I gravitate towards light efficient on the up and capable enough for the down (I’m more conservative rider). I’m looking at bc40, epic 8 evo, and transition spur so curious to see how these 2 stack up in
@flow2tech4 күн бұрын
@LowFlyingHawk hey there, i was in your predicament.. I went with the bc40 but built it up more on the dc/trail category .. Built it up with a 130 fox 34 , one up cockpit, specialized ground control 2.4 f/r . Xtr 4 piston brakes.. We are one convergance wheelset ... Honsestly, for my style of riding the thing is an absolute beast. It descends almost as good as my old Yeti sb130 did but is much more nimble and quick on the climbs.. Mine is built up in the 26lb range. Don't think you can go wrong...

Great bike and loved my own FA upgrade from BicycleStation. Sorry to see the modern geometry of this great bike being subverted. You’re obviously riding a frame that’s too small for you… would be much better on a large with a shorter stem and less saddle setback.
@bicyclestationАй бұрын
What would be better about it exactly? The large BC40 is significantly bigger. Basically the only improvement would be the reach. The stack is huge and the seat tube is also 3cm taller.

@brucehumphries6889Ай бұрын
Read my mind
@bicyclestationАй бұрын
I wanted to buy an ASR for this exact purpose. Yeti was kinda confused by our shop, but still let us open an account. It had a ton of limitations. Basically if we can’t ship a bike to a customer that’s a deal breaker. Yeti wouldn’t let us ship anything because they wanted to protect their dealer network. This was super hypocritical in my view because competitive cyclist and jenson sell yeti… The bike looks great though. The only negative thing I see is its wide cranks only. This is a miss on an XC race bike in my book.

@bicyclestationАй бұрын
In what way? Not saying the ranger is bad but off the bat Its pounds heavier. What’s better about it
@carlosmcintyre3639Ай бұрын
I sold my Revel Ranger when I got my BC40 and much prefer the Allied. It’s much lighter, pedals far more efficiently, and doesn’t feel as unsettled in steep, chunky terrain; although that last one may be due to Fox suspension vs Rock Shox. The only area that I felt that Ranger excelled over the BC40 was on technical climbs where the rear wheel seemed to maintain better traction. I rarely race, but to me the BC40 is still a more fun bike to ride overall. If I were a racer, there would be no comparison: the BC40 is just way faster. Just my $.02.
