The famous Nepenthes hamata is a striking highlander from Sulawesi with stunning black teeth on the peristome. Not a beginner's plant, but one with incredible pitchers and hybrid potential.
Information on all of our Nepenthes is available on our website: predatoryplant...

I wish I could grow this. I'm in Florida. I have hamata x sibuynansis and hamata x ventricosa. The ventricosa cross hated being outside. It sat and did nothing but is very happy now as a house plant making pitchers for me. The sibuyanensis cross loves it outside and makes lovely toothy pitchers for me. Humidity is not an issue inside or out for me.

Anything you can tell us about led lighting requirements for nepenthes would be great.....I grow indoors and don't want anything to die......great video......keep them coming

I use a shop light from harbor freight. 4 foot long, 4000 k, 5500 lumens. It’s like $40. Way cheaper than specific LED grow lights. It’s been great so far.

Why aren’t there more Hamata hybrids? Also, my mom and her friends will visit the nursery sometime this year, super excited! I’m also visiting California Carnivores in 2 weeks! Super hyped!

I've got 3 different hybrids in my collection, and seeds on the way. And some very affordable too. But.... None are mature yet. Mine are mixed of x (Maxima x talangensis), x Ventricosa, and x Mira Glob. They were all from the same sell on eBay at a very reasonable price and arrived safe, healthy, and still humidified. Even though some youngling pitchers didn't fair well in the trip. By the way! That's awesome you have these nursery visits planned, can't say I'm not a bit envious. Happy hunting while you're there!!

There aren't more N. hamata hybrids because there aren't very many growers who are able to flower them regularly, and even fewer who know what to do if they do flower one.

The last clone you looked at was BE-3380, there’s a lot of talk throughout nursery growers and hobbyists alike that this particular clone is easier to grow or much less difficult and much more tolerant of less than ideal conditions. Is this true?

I have been growing nepenthes and carnivorous plants for over a year now and ive only lost a cephalotus so far and i really wanna get a nepenthes hamata but im worried about the summer months where my house can get to 80 degrees. i know its a highland plant and in the winter i can easily provide temp drops to 60 its the summer im worried about I really dont wanna kill my 150 dollar plant
@cageC64
@cageC64 2 жыл бұрын
80/60 degrees definitely wouldn't kill it, it would do fine as long as the nighttime temps dont go much higher than 60 and the humidity is good

Hi there, have you ever tried using keiki paste on your Neps, I've curently made up a few batches using 1g lanolin ep to 1mg Benzylaminopurine, this stuff is truly amazing after less than a month I now multiple grow points growing on both the upper & lower parts of my plants, with a few plants baring up to 8-10 basals on each, cheers.

@PredatoryPlants

The inventory will not be 1-to-1. We're selling some things at the store that don't work well for shipping (larger plants, multi-plant arrangements, etc.) Extremely valuable items from the website like specimen plants and high-end Nepenthes will probably not be on the showroom floor, but will be available for pickup upon request.

Nice video, I recently got a small hamata and seeds, i put the small plant in to a mini seed breeder with Spagnum moos as a substrate and with the lid on i get 29-33 degrees (celsius) without lid its about 24-27 the surrounding air is more in the 24 region the substrate in the 27 region because i heat with a heat mat wich is under the breeding box. Without lid the moister is by 60-70% with lid its by 85-95%. Light is made by morning sun, the rest of the day its indirect sun but i could assemble a artificial light. Do you think those parameters are okay fore the plant? Do i need the extra light? Do you think i could grow Bicalcarata under the same conditions? I realy dont want to lose the plant so i would be very thankfull fore your advice

If the seeds came from a Spanish seller on eBay and cost $9, I'm afraid you got scammed. Advice on how to grow Nepenthes seed in general can be found in our Ultimate Nepenthes Seed Guide video here on KZbin.

baliszez2dawalliszez someone beginning with the letter L from Spain? Who has an alternative account that begins with C? He's a well known scammer and the seeds will never generate. You won't get your money back through PayPal as they count them as installed goods.

Hey Devin, I noticed the vine of the first Hamata you shown stopped pitchering. Why was that. It seemed like nothing but normal leaves with nothing inflating
@PredatoryPlants
@PredatoryPlants 6 жыл бұрын
This isn't Devon, but I can answer that. The plant hasn't stopped pitchering. Leaves pitcher sequentially from the bottom up, and the plant can only support a certain number at a time. So if the plant is growing fast, the vine will outrun the inflating pitchers. More pitchers can be encouraged by giving them something to wrap around, or increasing light/humidity levels.
@mr.personality7762
@mr.personality7762 6 жыл бұрын
@@PredatoryPlants o yea I know they inflate in "order' per say. It just seemed like right when it took a left, all pitchers were stalled.
