This was by far the best care /spotlight video on Tricopsis Pumila, I have been doing weeks of research after seeing them at my LFS. 💕💕 I have 2 in a 5 gallon planted tank on my desk, & they are SO captivating. Their blue eyes & tiny sparkles are what drew me to them. I just love the curious & sassy personalities of Gouramis & other anabantids 😂 I love seeing how others aquascape for theirs! :) 🌱

Thanks for doing this video! I got one of these little guys accidently in a bag of danios a couple of months ago and have been trying so hard to figure out what he was but its been so hard because he was so tiny when I first got him. Super interesting fish with a good personality!

Nice video. I have 8 in my 20 long and absolutely love them. One thing that you didn't mention is that they make a clicking or croaking sound when pairing. It's what drew me to them in the first place. Unfortunately I also have pear Danios in the same tank and will be moving them shortly as they drive my gouramis crazy. They are too active in the tank.
@fluval6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the compliment and for the information, good point. Are you keeping them with lots of plants?
@pattir90936 жыл бұрын
Yes-heavily planted. They love it. They all have their own areas in the tank that they like to hang out in.

Can you do a species spotlight on Betta Imbellis? There isn't that much information on the species. It is also a species that should be more popular. I've seen you mention then in a couple videos, but a dedicated video would be nice.
@fluval6 жыл бұрын
Jason, we can and will get to it in the future, as you mention we did have it in our rather lengthy Betta Care Video and our list is pretty long, that said we do like the fact it is a peaceful species and we agree it should be more popular.

I'm a bit late to the gourami party, but I honestly found these little dudes in my local shop, had a perfect tank for them, and had to have them. I've got 3 in a 25 gallon, heavily planted with both sand +root tabs and fluorite black, right now, but will be getting 5 more once I'm able to order from the same local store.

Hi, I just discovered that video and trichopsis pumila are a must have indeed! One little detail though: floating plants are needed for those shy fish but don't let them cover the entire surface as the gourami will need to gulp air from time to time, using their labyrinth organ.

From where I live in Malaysia , they are found in abundant in all swamps, creeks, ponds / basically everywhere lol. They r cute & very shy allright. I love catching em as a child years ago.

I have been watching a channel here on KZbin that has these little cuties in a lovely planted tank. My aquarium goal is to one day have a tank like that. How do you feel about Australian and Bosemani Rainbowfish? What about Corydoras? Maybe Balloon Mollies, Ryukin, or Shubukin goldfish? (Lol, I have a LOT of fish that I'm interested in!) Would you ever consider doing a Species Spotlight for snails? And on the topic of snails, do you think that the amount of copper in the Fluval Bug Bites could potentially harm a Mystery/Apple snail?
@fluval6 жыл бұрын
Florence, so many comments and questions :) We are fans of rainbows and corys for sure, mollies yes, balloon variants we respectfully withhold comment...Goldfish, you always need to consider larger aquariums with strong filtration, we do find them interesting, especially great for keeping in ponds, more room and a great way to enjoy them. There are some inverts we will consider, but, we have so many fish and plants to cover it will be a while. Copper is not issue in Bugbites as it is a trace amount and is actually an important trace element to include in a well rounded formulation. Glad you liked the Sparkling Gourami video, we really like those little guys too!

How do they do with shrimp? I bought some because someone told me they do well with cherry shrimp but someone else told me no. So I’m not sure what to do now. Also mine are nowhere near shy or reclusive. They’re always out and about. They seem very territorial. I have 3 and each have their spot and chase the others out of their spot.
@LudwigVaanArthans6 жыл бұрын
They will usually ignore shrimp but will attack them when molting
@QualeQualeson5 жыл бұрын
They are not safe for shrimp. They will form hunting parties and take down your biggest shrimps, even when the shrimp are not molting. I've seen it on KZbin myself. These guys are ruthless. They're amazing, but ruthless :D

Hi! I’m looking into these guys for a five gallon tank, you think I could keep two in there? It’s heavily planted, and if I can I’d like to keep some shrimp in there as well. Do you think that would be ok for them?

beginner here.. have 75g and would like one species in it.. I love guppies ( open to any other suggestions).. Would a school of Gourami's work? Also I'd would like to know how many i can stock for my size tank? Thanks Joe
@fluval6 жыл бұрын
Joe, if you like species specific type set ups, which we think are really cool as well, why not consider a South American biotope type tank. White sand bottom, lots of vertically oriented branchy driftwood and a big school of cardinal tetras with a school of corydoras for the bottom. Both species should be kept in schools. A school of 75 Cardinals and 12 C. sterbai would make for a lovely set up. Medium low light intensity with perhaps a few E. bleheri (amazon sword plants), the cardinals would be spectacular in this type of set up. Gourami's are not really schooling fish in general.

Can you do a specie spotlight on parachromis mota? There isn't much information about them.
@fluval6 жыл бұрын
If you are referring to P motaguensis we likely will not be doing one anytime soon, it is a 1 foot beast with quite the temper....our larger tanks in the aquatic lab do not have tank mates that would survive it...
