Which functions work in the COLOR page ? Find out here and see my favourite Cut Page functions. if you dont know how to use Source Tape then watch this episode first - It will change how you use the Speed Editor for the better! kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4WUmmx7e95mqq8 *UPDATE - Jens Harms has pointed out to me that if using the Stills Wipe in Color Page then the Jog wheel on the speed editor works for the wipe! Thank you for letting us know Jens!*

I have got the speed editor since last month and this device is now the best friend of the cut page and makes it easy to do a first edit. I have organised footage of 5 bike tours in europe and use the sourcetape ordered by bin to cut a "best of" - a project which would be too time consuming on the edit page. Thank you for your tipps (the triple click was new to me)

Thanks for another great video. I love this new tool. As someone brand new to the craft, having every irrelevant key stripped away and all relevant keys arranged in defined groups on the panel makes instructions that used to be confusing clear, and physical actions at which I was clumsy smooth. This is not a small point: I have discovered that editing is a craft relying on muscle memory plus storytelling ability. I appreciate your insights into the Speed Editor. I look forward to your videos.

Thank you Adam. The speed editor is crafted around how controllers worked and above all 'responded' with analogue tape. As an analogue editor of the 80's its great to see this Speed Editor. A lot of the benefits of a controller got lost with digital so its amazing to see them back in a "real-feel" controller.

I am really happy with my speed editor, but I would love it if (in a future update) they enabled the more functionality on other pages, I wonder if the jog wheel could be used where the colour wheels normally are used. Obviously not as a trackball, but to modify a parameter at a time, it could be good. I love how frame-accurate the wheel is, much better than a mouse. What do you think Darren, is there any hope of future expansion for this device? PS: Great episode, and I would love more like this to learn to really master the speed editor! Thanks, Craig

For example, how can i select a lower V1 clip to split it without split also V2? i know that you can click mouse on clip and the click on Split on Speed Editor, but i would like to know if it's possibile to use only the speed editor in this sense. Last but not least; do you confirm that in-out white line selector clips it's only in source clip view and not in source tape view into the cut page? Many thanks!!

Thanks for this Darren. As always; concise, and informative. So, on your 'Live' stream a week or so ago you mentioned that you were going to tell us a little about how you use your Wacom...how you set it up, programme the buttons, etc (at least i'm pretty sure you did). The Stream was really good but unfortunately you didn't get the time to focus on the Tablet. Any chance you could do a short vid on this if you get a moment. I'm currently using a Micro Panel (very frustrating so i'm probably going to get a Mini panel soon). I also use an Apple Track Pad which i find very useful, and a Stream Deck XL. However, i'd really like to get a Wacom tablet but not too certain how i would integrate it into my workflow - but i like the idea. Really no probs if you can't find the time as i'm sure you're up to your nips in work, etc. However it's something that i'd find really helpful, and maybe others will too. Meanwhile hope all is good in Darren Town.

Hi David - I've not used Loupedeck. I do have the speed editor though which I love! Not much functionality of speed editor in Color page (as described in this video) but its functionality editing is fantastic. Good luck with your choice.

To be honest it feels like the time it would take you to move between keyboards or panels when you're not in the cut page would negate any benefit you get from using the speed editor in, say, the colour page. That said it does look great for cut (though I expect you'll want a powerful system to get the most from the experience).

Hi - I would like to know something briefly - even if the question seems a bit "dump". Can you use the Speed Editor and a DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel in parallel or is that not possible - thanks for a short feedback. Why - I want to use the Speed Editor as a "transport control" and the Mini Panel for my color grading - I have the Mini Panel and it runs great (Linux Ubuntu + Studio version and yes it works) - the Speed Editor would be a great addition :)

Hey, great video! I have one really annoying issues that I'm not sure if some updates have now changed the function or I'm doing something wrong. I got my master bin, inside that I have 2 folders one named 25fps and another 50fps. On the cut page if I hit the source button, it will auto jump to one of the folders only, hit esc, or source again and it will not move away from that individual folder. I thought maybe I need to put those 2 folders in another folder under the master, and it's exactly the same. I know it's not a huge issues, but it means when I want to get to another bin I have to use my mouse and and select the folder manually. Doesn't exactly speed anything up. Have you any ideas? I was going to query BM about it, but thought I'd query it here for. Much appreciated!

2 things 1 how does the speed editor work in other Pages beside the cut page Namely the Edit & Fairlight page. and 2 any chance of comparing it to the Contour ShuttlePRO V.2 - shuttle wheel - USB

I covered its functionality in Edit page and colour page here, also check this episode I made kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaGtd614j6yUfsk will help. I don't have a contour shuttle pro to do a comparison. I can already tell you which one will be better though. Fairlight page and Fusion it is really play/stop/shuttle as it doesn't make sense otherwise.

I just ordered studio with the speed editor. Seems the editor only good if u got a lot of footage to chop? I don't even use the cut page and trying to figure out how this will be helpful. Isnt the mouse faster for in and out points if u make ur own videos and record them?
@DarrenMostyn
@DarrenMostyn 3 жыл бұрын
This is much faster than a mouse. The trim tools are so fast - this is faster even if you are editing just 5 clips! Cut Page - I recommend you learn it and then decide. It IS faster - that is not a preference - it's a fact. You need the edit page too, but assemble editing in the cut page is quicker. Enjoy your speed editor. All the best.

@@DarrenMostyn I tried the cut page and I still reverted to using the edit page. Maybe it's my style of editing I'm not doing much in and out points. I just do youtube videos and still learning. Ya maybe I didn't give the cut page enough thought. Just an idea maybe if u can make a video comparing editing in the cut page vs edit page and tips would be helpful :) o forgot to mention I use an iPad for shortcuts over the keyboard lol.
@DarrenMostyn
@DarrenMostyn 3 жыл бұрын
@@TKGZONE Try my cut page episode out. This explains it pretty well and compares to the edit page. If you are just cutting a few clips for youtube and don't need 'time saving' then you are probably OK as you are. The real advantages come as you edit bigger projects that are more time critical. Choice is the great thing with Resolve!

I have short term memory retention Anywhere from 5 seconds with numbers to 30 to 45 with other things. Repetition helps sometimes. That's one of the reasons I hate KeyBoard Shoet Cuts. Does the Speed Editor come with a complete set of Commands on a Cheat Sheet? Or a searchable Data Base as DR should have for us O'l Gezzers afflicted with memory problems. Id it doesn't it's USLESS to us older people that wish to continue in the Hobby/Profession of Video.

There's a lot of Videos already on the Speed Editor & DR. What's Needed is a Searchable Data Base for DR. Speed Editor ETC. Hover over an ICON or Pull down Menu Item and PRESS F1 and it takes you to an explanation of the ICONs function and Definition & possibly an example. That would the greatest Learning tool because it answers your question 'RIGHT NOW' without having to hunt the internet and by the time you get close to an answer you've forgotten thr damn question.
