​@a1000island Pixel 8 doesn't get all the AI features in any region. Google said, the Pixel 8 has hardware limitations and can't receive Gemini Nano. The also said the same thing for the Pixel Fold.

In my personal usage I value a more compact format than the bigger display and larger OP, and actually the camera of the Pixel 8 is waaay better than the OP, and is more because of the 8 mpx ultra wide and a useless 2 mpx macro of the 12R. But in every other aspect I totally agree the 12R is much more better than the Pixel

That's just not the point of the 12R though. It's all about battery life and performance w/ cooling, so a bigger screen is a must to store that 5500 battery and cooling system.

The price in EU is actually not much expensive than the US. The EU only offers the more expensive maxed out 16GB/256GB configuration. Also VAT is included while tax isn't in included in the US

People dont realize that half the software updates is not a bad thing when u consider its half the price. Meaming you can upgrade to another $500 phone the will be 100% better then any of these 2 phones. OP12r for the win

Just bought four OnePlus 12Rs for my family. I'm a OnePlus fan and truly miss my OnePlus 5T after AT&T forced me to get rid of it. They flagged it as being a 3G calling service only, which they were shutting down, but I could go on the backend to turn on 4G calling. So pissed. I ended up getting a free cheap phone from them for the inconvenience and have been suffering for the past two years. I'm so happy to get a OnePlus again! Unpopular opinion, RE: software - My experience with Pixel 6 and 7 has been miserable, particularly compared to my OnePlus 7 before these. I just don't find value in their AI tools, it's pure annoyance to me, and general stability had been truly terrible the whole time (crashes, bugs, phone resets on both). Nothing about my daily experience, apart from a *marginal* win for cameras has been better compared to OP. So i would heartily argue with the assertion that Pixel software is "just plain better."

Nice job on the comparison, only bty the pixel if you need or want a smallish phone and the camera is the number one thing above all else. The OnePlus can be had here in the States for $399 by agreeing to send in any garbage phone you have in your drawer from the flip phone back to who knows what can you get $100 off.

My Pixel 6 Pro is literally unusable after a repair shop messed up the screen repair job. It won't scan fingerprints, and it also has a flaw on the screen. But everything else works.

Yes, the 12R is really only $400 here in the US, and comes with a super rapid charger included. My gf has one and the camera is really pretty good, and will probably continue to improve with updates. The pictures beat my Pixel 6a hands down. The 12R is very quick and smooth, and holds multiple apps open without flinching. Battery life is awesome. She has no regrets.

I have an older Pixel that just bit the dust going down a waterfall. So.. Not totally its fault. I really want to like the 12R and I keep trying to find reasons for it (value is a huge plus for it) but the lack of induction charger which is hardly mentioned anywhere and waterproofing are deal breakers for me. Yeah, its kinda silly since the Pixel died in the water but it had a lot of help along the way and took a beating first.

PIxel 8 is harder to get, or more pricey, due to no official sellers in some places. Pixel 8 has better "stabilization" in camera, but those "insta" group are mostly in iPhone. So for rest of buyers, it's about chip, battery and the rest. OnePlus 12R has better coverage for availability in market.

The Pixel has poor customizability, poor modem and battery life that is okay. On the other hand, the software is really good out of the box, has little gimmicks and 7 years of support and the Pixel has a very good camera. The OnePlus 12R does everything better except the camera. But it "only" has 4 years of support. The OnePlus 12R also lacks wireless charging. I personally had a Pixel 8 and switched to a OnePlus 12 (not the R). Very good decision.

The Pixel 8 doesn't. The Pixel 8 pro does, but then you would be comparing that to the OnePlus 12 which has a 3x optical zoom lens.

​@@robertzoufooda 3x zoom lens is actually BETTER than a singular 5x lens. As in, if your phone gotta have just one telephoto, it better be 3x instead of 5x. Why? 3x is better for portrait shots, and if you only have one 5x telephoto sensor, that leaves a MASSIVE void between 1x and 5x. The OnePlus 12 got the better camera system. Moreover the OnePlus 12's camera sensor literally takes cleaner 6x shots with the 3x periscope than the Pixel 8 Pro does with its 5x periscope, I'm serious.

Eh, would you be fine with an IMX 709 at 2x with no OIS? I'd say it's better to have one really good main sensor with OIS that can take mostly lossless 2x crops, than a cheap 2x IMX 709 with no OIS.

No offense, the tensor G3 chipset is not flagship level. However, the Snapdragon 8 generation 2 chipset is. The difference is that it was incorporated into a high tier mid-range device. Frankly, I don't even consider the pixal 8 pro to be flagship level. The tensor chipsets are still a work in progress. Perhaps, one day but, not this day.

In India, it is not even a comparison. Pixel is just too expensive around 1000$ with network issues and overheating issues, especially in tropical weather. It simply doesn't make sense to buy the phone. Any phone would be better than the shit box Google has produced 😂. Plus it takes decades to charge it to 100%.

I did order the pixel i and was quite impressed with the software and camera performance. But mam oh man , indeed it takes a lot of time to charge and that's why I had to return it . And bought the xioami 13 pro . It's super good and I am good for at least a couple of years to come

12R for performance, battery and charging, display. Pixel for camera, software, better assistant functionality, the best recorder app. Honestly though, if you're married to the idea of getting the pixel, you probably be better off getting like the pixel 7 pro for 320. Then you get the telephoto lens and the QHD and the much nicer design. Design I would argue just because of the more modern look, although I prefer the back of the pixel to the OnePlus. I love the vertical camera bump, but I don't know if that's enough to make up for the bezels on the front.

Who tf cares about 7 years of updates? Who keeps a phone for 7 years? I really don't understand this as a talking point against the OnePlus. If someone is keeping the phone for 7 years, it's massively unlikely they'll be bothered about software updates. I wonder what all these 7-year update cycle people did until last year.. maybe they sold their phones immediately after Google stopped providing updates.

OnePlus gets 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates on a much more capable chipset. The only things the Pixel 8 has over the OnePlus 12r are the cameras and software.
