That classic white bone that GW used to do on their skeletons. I still like it :)

And that old school classic way of painstakingly highlighting up in layers... it taught discipline! I think I'm only cut out for the contrast style these days. Too many things to paint!

This is great work with great result, but going over full unit with such effort seems more like hell than like fun;D i love the "oxydation effect" on gold parts!

I really like the drybrushing on the shields to make them look dusty. What an easy bit of weathering on a great color scheme. If you are planning chariots next, I think it would be cool to give the lead chariot a big custom banner. Time to put those traditional art skills to work Mr. Matt! Thanks for the video as always and take care.

Thanks Shane! Great idea about a banner. I was flipping through the book and saw that chariot units can have full command. That must be new, I don't remember them ever getting that option. I could see some really cool conversion opportunities.

You truly are blessed with a radio voice. Very soothing to hear. Great for tutorials!

Nice looking unit! I like the 'dust' trick. I would have added some rust look to the weapons though. Good Video, keep up the good work.

Thanks for watching! Good call on the rust. I thought earthshade might be enough. I'll try a little orange here and there on the next model and see how it looks. Thanks for watching!

Great as always matt, especially the use of regular paint for the patina and weathering! I also prefer to not use all the expensive stuff... in the end it's all acrylic.

When you are making your paint mixes to put into droppers are you thinning the paint at all when pouring into your measuring cup?
@MattsHobbyHour7 ай бұрын
I will thin the paint slightly if it is too thick to pour (in which case I'll add a small amount of airbrush medium). When the pot is nearly empty i'll add a little airbrush medium and shake it up to get the last bit out. I try not to thin the paint unless I have to. I can always make it thinner later if I want to. In the case of the specific colors in this video: I did not add any thinner to the bone wash mix. And on the turquoise the only thinner I added was to get the last bit out of the mixing cup (as narrated). Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and good luck!

@@MattsHobbyHour thanks for the extra context. I always think about making common mixes but found the process a little tedious and in particular getting the paint out of the pots.
@MattsHobbyHour7 ай бұрын
@@parkerbutynski500 yeah it can be a little tedious. A couple other things I find helpful: An old brush is helpful for scooping out the last bit from the pot. For the very last bit, in the pot i'll add some airbrush medium and shake it up, then i'll put that really thin paint in some assorted airbrush mixes or "terrain wash" mixes I have laying around. Kind of like a never ending soup pot that changes over time. I really hate wasting anything and I'm always looking for ways to creatively use up materials.

Idea for your chariots: the horses look a bit boring, maybe some head dress or light armor to tie them in more?
@MattsHobbyHour7 ай бұрын
Yeah that's a great idea. I agree they look plain. I was thinking some scraps of scale mail barding could look good, basically bigger versions of what I put on the skeleton's backs.
