SPEED PAINTING | Half-Timbered Houses in Germany

My first ever attempt at doing a painting time-lapse.
In case you're curious, this is a street in a small German town called Schwäbisch Hall. I lived there as an exchange student in 2007/2008 and recently went back for a visit.

Hazel and Innocent Thanks! I think I was using a mix with maybe five or six different colors. But they were all watercolors by Schmincke. Hope that helps!

Hello, may I ask how you are mixing your shadows? As a watercolour beginner I struggle the most with giving the painting some dimension. And you are really perfect with that, your watercolour "sketches" look fantastic!

maya 379 Thanks so much! For shadows I usually use a combination of ultramarine blue and English-Venetian red. Hope that helps and happy sketching!

Difficult to see exactly on this video due to the speed of it, but do you mark outlines in pencil then use a fountain pen? How do you prevent the ink from the pen not bleeding into the paper and not bleeding into wet watercolours either? Very clever

Yep, I use a pencil first for rough outlines. For ink, I use waterproof ink that is made for fountain pens but doesn't smear when you go over it with water.
