Hi Danny. Lovely sketch book that you made. I follow a lot of people who sketch, mainly urban sketchers, and they inspire me with their styles, but I find that my style is closest to yours, with all of the details. You have inspired me to leave white spaces, which I don’t do. Thanks for the tour.

Thanks, Nadya! I think the key is to do layers and rich, slow washes. I have a video on how I sketch trees which shows you a bit of my real-time process. ;)

You do such beautiful work and have a distinctive style. Do you later create works based on these sketches? They seem more like an end in themselves but I know that some artists use sketchbooks to capture compositions for later use.

amjPeace Thanks! I guess “sketch” is maybe not the right word, as they’re not a precursor or draft for anything. I suppose it’s because most of them come from urban sketching. ☺️

I really struggle with mixing the colour of old sandstone like the ones on your buildings, it’s not quite a yellow but not quite a grey 😫 please help

Hey there, I usually use a combination of yellow ochre, ultramarine blue, some English-Venetian red and maybe a bit of sepia brown.
