Just wanted to say that this video gave me the confidence to start painting miniatures last year. Thanks for helping me get into the hobby!

I have seen some of your stuff before - being an avid youtube watcher on all things gaming and creative .. but this was inspired and inspiring .. BOOM!! - sub right there - and I'll be definitely using your ideas and terrain for my KS Project Elite. I now have to go through your whole back catalog and find out what I've missed - sigh - lol Thank you sir - golden!

Very comprehensive! (and you made the terrain!) Thanks for posting! I especially appreciate you testing the heavy drybrush over black with contrast paint. That is something I've been interested in but haven't yet tried. I like how your test came out.

GamingGeek! Thanks for the files! I will have to get those printed out! I am loving the contrast paints. While it does add to painting time, I've found that using other light colors for base colors can make for some great results. For example, for a hero I paint the flesh in elf flesh by vallejo then hit the flesh with guilliman contrast afterward. The results look really nice. I use vallejo khaki for leather then follow up with snake leather. It works really well. On heroes I don't mind spending a little extra time. But again thanks for those files and for your great videos! Keep it up!

Using all contrast paints, how long would you say it took you to paint the whole base box set of project elite? Your models look fantastic by the way and I love your videos keep up the good work!

There are so many variables... But once you get a paint workflow going, I would say two weeks of painting each night.

This is amazing, but how long did it take you painting them all!? There's loads of them!
@gaminggeek2414 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, I painted all the minion aliens one weekend and the heroes and bosses on another. So not too bad, especially since I was batch painting the minions and using contrast colors.
@HolyToilet14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for all of this, I love project elite and am just getting into painting. I am just finishing up painting the swarm enemies and the method I have been using as led to some unfortunate effects and less than good paints....my question is I have a bunch of vallejo washes would it be possible to use these similarly to how you used the contrast paints on the heroes and bosses? Sorry if that was a dumb nooby question! Definitely subbed by the way, great content!
@gaminggeek2414 жыл бұрын
There's never a dumb question! I've never used Vallejo washes so can't speak from experience but I've heard Uncle Atom from Tabletop Minions say that Contrast paints work similarly to Vallejo washes. If you haven't already, you can also watch this video I made and you can see that I compare Army Painter and Citadel washes to Contrast paints so that might give you an idea: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYfcin-Gjc-XpMU

Been using your files to print the space ship terrain and the pieces are coming out smaller than they should be. (Using an Ender 5) I just referred back to this video and they are definitely smaller. Is there something I need to change in the settings? I’m using Creality’s slicer and just uploading your files directly from thingiverse. Thanks in advance!
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, that's strange. They are to scale for me on my Ender 5 (I use Cura as my slicer). You might want to measure out the piece on the board to see what the measurement should be and then scale the stl file in your slicer. Record the percentage increase so you can be consistent with all of your pieces. Hope that helps!

Printed the bushes and spaceship! Looks awesome. Could you share the files for the 3D walls? Thanks!

@@gaminggeek241 Sure... thanks for the info. Also, I'm thinking of getting a neoprene mat made for this wonderful game. Wondering if you have the softcopy of the board (both sides)? If you can share it, it will be SUPERB!

@@gaminggeek241 sorry for the confusion. I noticed that there is a small tear on my game board so thinking of printing a neoprene replacement. However, I'm searching for a PDF of the board picture in order to do so. By any chance you know where to get them?

Hi, just to confirm if we are to print out all the files for this project? Any repeats between the Bushes and Wrecked Spaceship files? Thanks. I'm new to 3D printing, please pardon my ignorance.
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
You can reuse one of the bushes for the wrecked spaceship side of the board but otherwise, you will need to print out the whole set. Which printer did you decide to get?

Did u print the ship and bushes with the Ender 5? Or the Prusa MK3S?
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
I used both machines to print out all the parts. Took me some time to get my Ender to print as well as my Prusa though. But I don't think you can tell which pieces were printed on which machine. I'm printing at .2mm height BTW.

Is it possible to buy 3D printed / painted terrain from you? Don’t have a 3D printer? If not which 3D printer do you have so I can look into it? Thank you!
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't sell 3D prints but there are a lot of printing services available online. Or you can do it for free at your local library (here in the US) or local maker/hacker space. Many people own the Creality Ender 3 because it is relatively cheap. I own the Ender 5 and Prusa MK3S which is a lot more expensive.

@@gaminggeek241 I will look into a service. Thank you. What material did you use for the 3d print. Also did you spray all of the minis white before you started painting them? If so what white spray did you use?

@@TheCtznSnips I use PLA for the 3D prints (Hatchbox brand). Yes, I primed all models with flat white spray primer from Rustoleum 2X Ultra Cover. You can get it at Walmart for about $4.
