Hello Steve, I had been following your content for a while and you really opened my mind up to looking for ways to breaking "the rules" and redefine my own playing style. I'd love to hear some of the musical projects you have been involved in, are there any band names or performances you could share?

Hi Nicholas, I'm still playing, but unfortunately still have the Dystonia so using a pick these days. Thinking about kick starting the channel again in the New Year though.

Why don't you do a whole series on different players who don't use a pick and the different tricks they use to get their speed runs

Hello Steve, how do you palm mute power chords when playing with no pick ?
@SteveGilson2 жыл бұрын
I cheat and just use the same technique as you would with a pick. The difference is that I use the tip of my index finger/ nail instead of the pick. You can see me demonstrating it in this old video... kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYS9kqOjg7etqtk

did you stop playing with your fingers on the right hand?
@SteveGilson2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but not by choice, I'm still battling this kzbin.info/www/bejne/hniZpIeVo8yJaLM hopefully one day I'll have it beaten.

hey man greetings are u totally recovered from dystonia ?
@SteveGilson2 жыл бұрын
No, unfortunately not. That's why the recent videos have been done with a pick. I believe that I'm finally progressing towards fixing it though. One of the reasons why I haven't been putting so many videos online recently is because I've been working on that.

Here are a few things that have helped me in the past. Joaquin Fabra: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3yqomyFhbNkb8U Akiko Trush: kzbin.info/door/JYNKqX6JZ7Bprcd7bnEb4g This is a useful interview... kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4Snm6WuotCCnqM The other thing to remember is that it has equivalences in all kinds of sports. for example The Yips in golf, "Dartitis" in Darts. I'm pretty sure that The Twisties in gymnasics is their equivalent of it. So sports science may give you some clues too. I haven't given up on it, and I feel like I'm making progress, you can bet when I have something definitive to say I'll talk about it on here. Good luck - Steve
