Considering you live in a farm area, 253mbps is damn good. That’s more than enough for the average person. You’re lucky to even get that in a rural area.

I would recommend testing the AT&T device in different areas of your house and see where the fastest test is. Even if you have to run an Ethernet cable to an AP. It can make a worlds of signal difference when you are closer to a window, and your phone was only getting 250 down and 3 up, so it can't be expected that the AT&T Internet Air device will be much better. Maybe in the most northeast window of your house, you can give that a try.

Another thing is to try rotating the box. The antenna in the ATT box looks like it might partially be blocked by the electronics. Also it would be interesting to compare signal strengths in the 2 boxes. The ATT antenna looks like it might be bigger than the Verizon antenna resulting in a higher signal level. If so, then the Verizon box sacrificed a little speed and signal strength for looks.

Speed varies but my coverage is ridiculous.. my iPad mini cellular is faster than or was faster than my at home internet 🛜 Verizon plus I can take it with me Soo basically long story short.. it depends on your location not the device

I live in an urban area. Speeds with AT&T air are severely disappointing. During the afternoon speeds drop to where the internet is unusable. Tech support has not been helpful at all. Doing restarts while the modem is configuring, I ran a speed test and had high speeds until it fully connected. It feels like speeds are restricted intentionally, especially at busier times. This is the worst internet I have had since dial up. At least dial up was consistent.
@ConsumerTechJoe

That's definitely one of the downfalls of broadband - you're sharing internet with everyone else in your area, and in peak times there just isn't enough bandwidth for everyone. i would recommended looking into another internet option. If you're in an urban area, hopefully you have access to Fiber or Cable internet, which is what I would use if it was available here on the farm. Best of luck.

Your antenna-signal is PARMOUNT in terms of signal quality for Wireless home internet boxes. I am sure you have found that out by now. Get those things close to a window (without the blinds messing up any signal) or get a specific antenna made for 5G Home Internet, and you'll see an improvement over letting those things just sit on an interior table.

I did attempt to travel with the Verizon in the camper van; we drove from Washington to Moab and Lake Tahoe, and it did work in other places with it was very slow, we were definitely not getting 5G speeds (or even 4G speeds for that matter).

AT&T employee here. In a training we had to do for this product. Supposedly you will get a notification if it’s too far away from the billing address and will not work until returned back within that address for it to work. However Ive had customers say they were able to take it to different locations with not much issues and the speeds varied depending on how far you are from the nearest tower It’s “technically” design to be in one place for optimal performance.

Near a window or facing the closest tower will improve your upload speeds, which is what you specifically need. Just from my cellular data on AT&T inside my home the upload is trash, around 1-5 mbps, but if I put my phone on the window it goes up to like 30 Mbps. That's because I'm on edge cell, and causes a major signal difference just being at the window

I have a lot of devices and family comes over and uses wifi, my internet from Spectrum can handle that amount of loads but I do like the fact that att internet air is available at a cheap price and no price increase after 1 year I would get it if I didn't have a lot of devices connected to wifi and ethernet and I need it to get to my garage and outside yard area and wife does a lot of work from home.

I can see on your test that the ping is below 100ms and is around 70! That’s impressive! Thanks for the great video pal! Does your test by any chance show what the MTU is?
@ConsumerTechJoe

Great question, Speedtest.net doesn't share the MTU size used in the test. The AT&T All-Fi is set to 1430 and can't be changed. Hope this info helps a little.

my upload is under 10 very slow I live near tower so why slow?
@ConsumerTechJoe
@ConsumerTechJoe 6 ай бұрын
Hi, great question. It could be several reasons - The signal could have trouble penetrating the walls of your home, try moving to near a window in the direction of the tower. Also, try moving it higher above the ground. Also, if you point the fast of the AllFi Hub towards the tower this will help as well. Ultimately though, sometimes slow speeds are a result of network congestion. Good luck with trying to improve your speed - be sure to post back here if you find something that helps.
