NOTE: Defragging an SSD is NOT recommended, as it will shorten the life of the drive. Only defrage MECHANICAL drives.
@Dave40006 жыл бұрын
Windows 7 and later versions are supposed to "trim" the SSD automatically; the user does not have to do anything.
@grantkidd41429 жыл бұрын
Thanks for mentioning about Disk Defragmentation. I recently got a SSD and I checked it and it was scheduled for a weekly defragmentation!!!!
@ganeryhyperion83869 жыл бұрын
+Grant Kidd on windows 7 and up to windows 10 is automatically detected by your Windows OS to SSD and do Trim not De-fragmentation. Don't worry that much from windows 7 to 10 that OS know that you are using SSD or HDD plus now a days ssd can endure a lot more that you will expect even you always accidentally defrag it.
@grantkidd41429 жыл бұрын
Ren Senyo Thanks for the information, I just thought Defragmentation would ruin my SSD because they have limited read/write cycles but I must be wrong. Never heard of Trim before

Windows appearance and performance: when unticking the boxes for appearance options, I suggest just unticking the boxes that contain the words "animate", "fade" and "slide" and leave the others ticked. This will speed up Windows, but still keep the modern appearance and features like image file previews in folders (aka directories).

Thanks Brian :-D Believe it or not, you have covered all the things i do to peoples systems to speed it up. Clear temp/internet directorys. Go into internet explorer and kill all pointless/junk addons. Kill all animations and visual effects. (most people dont care, they want speed). Stop all unused services and autostarts. Use ccleaner and other registry cleaners to ditch the non existing program entrys/fragments. Disable the virtual memory so the swap file is deleted, then defrag without the swap file getting in the way, after defrag then set new virtual memory and hopefully it will stay as one file, no fragmented virtual memory. If its a main system then check/set the power options for non power saving, no cpu throttling down. Set windows update only to update at the weekend. Clear all restore points. I give the machine a reboot so it creates a fresh restore point. It makes hell of a difference ha ha :-D

+zx8401ztv I tried to keep this one basic without any tweaks. It still works ok.

Am I the only on who disables most of the visual effects of windows, just because it makes it more snappy? Britec, would you mind going into more detail about the page file settings in the next video? I think this is quite important since it can also cause trouble with programs, and you didn't really explain what a page file is and what it does etc. ( I know this was only a basic video)
@Britec099 жыл бұрын
+Revo SeR Yes I sure can and you are right. turning off page file can cause problems, that's why I said try recommend first. but I will cover it again in next video.

Hello Brian, say, is there a way to make either Win 7 or Win 10 load faster ? They take too much time until they shows the desktop. None of those used to happen on Win XP, but I had to buy a new PC wich the motherboard doesn't support Win XP.So I had to install Win 7 and Win 10, Of course I've configured msconfig.exe disabling all the unnecessary services. My hardware Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H, intel G3220, RAM 8 gb DDR3 1333 mhz. Many Thanks and excuse my English I'm from Argentina. Kindest Regards.

Well it was the user file it must of been corrupts so I backed it up with hbcd to another location. Then I made another admin user account deleted the corrupt one made a new account with the old name then started to moving the files about until it was restored. Make a good how to vid.

I know why my computer is slow. I have an i3 Intel processor and around 4 gigabytes of ram. Lol. Anyway, thanks for the video. It helped somewhat. :)
@MooLovesYoutube9 жыл бұрын
Also, a problem I have is that when I check Task Manager, 94% of my CPU is usually used but all Task Manager says is that "System" is using up my CPU and nothing else and it won't be specific as of what's causing that high CPU. I find that weird. I'll try some of the things you recommended outside of Task Manager and see if that helps.
