Cops in the UK are prepared for the norm, as in they probably wont need a gun ever, and thus dont carry one. But when SHTF, their only resource is call for specialized units. As for armored cars, cops in the US dont roll around in armored cars, and mostly use them when Shit REALLT hits the fan, like an active shooter or terrorist attack.

Obviously they're not hanging live ordnance up for display, but the launchers they came in were impressive to behold, mainly because it is 100% stuff confiscated during traffic stops, search warrants, etc.

My dad actually worked for Texas Instruments and helped design the javelin missile, he even had government clearance and was able to watch the early firings, where he and 15 other people would be in a locked up room and they would play a special recording. But he never got to see the end production of the rocket system.

That's awesome! My dad worked at the Hughes TOW missile division in Tucson, AZ in the seventies and years later told me about a "hypervelocity" round demo he went to in White Sands, NM. He said the round sailed through 4 ft of solid steel from 3 miles down range (and kept going until it hit the mountain behind it). I didn't believe him at the time and never mentioned it. Now I hear the Navy has quietly deployed a few "mods" on destroyers that do something like this. Yeah I'm an idiot.
