This has to be one of the nicest and cleanest looking Westfalia Vanagon’s I’ve ever seen. I’m super impressed that Literally almost every single major component to this Vanagon has been replaced and or modified. I love how you swopped out the original Westfalia refrigerator and added a brand new electric fridge all the while keeping it in it’s original compartment. Most people take the old fridges out and use the the space for storage and then mount a new Mobil refrigerator like a Dometic. I much prefer what you did. All of the mods on this Westfalia are so tastefully done. The reupholstered interior looks fantastic and it definitely makes everything look so comfortable. The only thing I wish you spoke on is the pop top that you replaced with an extended hardtop roof. Do you still have the fold out ceiling bed that the pop tops are known for? You definitely put a lot of time and money into this Vanagon and it shows with all of the beautiful modifications. I would absolutely love to own a vehicle like this! Thank you so much for sharing! Cheers!

@@remymarco I would either get a fresh 2.1 maybe a GoWesty or all out with a Subaru 2.5 . I went to a shop that specializes in Subaru swaps and they had a low miles 2.1 water box from a customer wanting the new engine. I get their pull out complete for 700.00 dollars. Great deal and I put it in my van, runs wonderful. Ask one of these shops because the owners don’t want the old engine but it might be clean with lower miles.

Had a 1971 tin can back in 1981 (I was single) and loved it. Took out the back seats, made a storage cabinet for my tools. Bought a piece of 3" foam for a bed. My sister made curtains for the back windows (we didn't have window tint) and one for behind the front seats. Went all over the place. If I had to much of a good thing, clawed in the back and went to sleep. It was great!! When it was time to drop the engine, I could do it in 20 min. Could go just about anywhere. Enjoy the experience and the ride. Good luck. Oh one last thing, the thing about the fires is that the one fuel line that went into the carburetor over time would work it's way out. I know this due to mine doing just that on the I 85 in NC. No fire, put a small flare on the end of the fuel line, taped it in with a hammer and away we went!! Stay safe.

the only thing missing was SYNCRO. I have loved these Vanagon Westfalia Campers since I first saw a brand new one in 1980, sitting on the showroom floor of my local VW dealership. I would come in and drool over them, fascinated with their Swiss Army Knife styled engineering and practicality. They were eye wateringly expensive and later, when the very cool and highly desirable Syncro versions came out, even more so. But I've always fantasized about tricking one out to the max. Go Westy is a favorite site to see very cool examples. Very nice build.

Why don't you do this for a living, setting up rigs like this? People will pay for cool stuff like this. The only thing lacking though is the provision of a toilet and shower. Amazing! I remember riding in a brand new, or almost brand new anyway, Vanagon (1986 to 1988 maybe?). It was the very next version after this one. Same chassis, but updated design. My Dad owned an auto body shop in Newport RI, and we did a major paint/mild restore, due to heavy rust, on an El Camino for the same people that owned the Vanagon. We had to deliver the Elco to Block Island (this is why the heavy rust, even though the Elco was less then a decade old) via the ferry, and pick up the Vanagon to do a little fix on it. These people were relatives of my Dad's friend, who went with us. And we got the deluxe tour of Block Island with Dad's friend's Father in Law, who was like an auxiliary cop over there. So even though I was underage, the tour included the bars too. We spent the whole day in that thing, and half the night too. It was the most comfortable vehicle to travel in I've ever been in. And I've been in big vans, and such. But these are different. You go slow, because you have no choice really, and you're chilling in the back like you're at home. Want to take a nap. No problem. Lay out flat. There's plenty of room. And eventually that's exactly what my Dad did. While we drove home. I've always liked these vehicles since then, but the one in the video is just on a whole other level. Well done sir. That's just a beautiful machine. I wish you safe travels.
