You're my favorite KZbin car reviewers. Unlike pretty much all the other KZbin reviewers, you don't spend half the video discussing the locations of the cup holders, or Apple Car Play or Android Auto. Heck, you don't discuss the infotainment system at all. You focus instead on strengths and weaknesses of the mechanics. And at the end, that's all that really matters.

I have a 2019 Altima, 60 thousand kilometers and no hints for a CVT failure. I personally know two Altima owners with much more kilometers, they also had no signs for CVT malfunction. The only major repair I had in general was an AC leak in the evaporator, supposedly due to the humidity and the hot climate in the middle-east. Will keep updating this comment.

Thanks for your input. What's wrong with the Camry, transmission?
@benjochs
@benjochs 4 жыл бұрын
speedkar99 the Camry has a lack of features for the price and this was a big reason why I decided to get rid of it. I need to enjoy the ride. The Camry needed $1k in dent repairs because the sheet metal is so thin and flimsy. I had to have several repairs on wheel bearings, tires, and the wheels themselves because it had noisy, crummy, low profile Hankook tires. The transmission took a lot of getting used to. After test driving the Altima it was a no brainier.

@@speedkar99 Why would you suspect that, it's not CVT, is it? This is a sarcastic comment pointing to a lot of BS floating around how one car is money pit and others are reliable. They are more or less same reliable, nowadays. Kilmer thinks all cars are junk. Well, he does not come into contact with not breaking cars, does he?
@William1866

My rich friend gave me his 2006 2.5 S at 96K miles. He spent more on dealership maintenance than he spent buying the car. He had no real big issues other than replacing the catalytic converter (probably because they are known for breaking down and sucking garbage back into the engine...but they didn't tell him that.) I replaced the crank and cam sensors that fail on all of them. Also the floor under the passenger seat rots out due to water getting trapped somehow. I replaced most of the front end suspension and steering parts due to a pothead ramming into the front passenger wheel. Everything was easy to get to except what you mentioned about the control arm bolt which had a little pocket where water could settle and rot out the bolt. It took a long breaker bar to get that off. 135K miles now and runs good. Not burning any oil.

I like that you get into the nitty-gritty details. For example you have shown us a complete tear down of a power steering pump, ac compressor, and even an odometer. If you could show us a complete tear down of a nissan cvt transmission, we could learn some of weak points and be able to repair them ourselves. If it weren't for the very unreliable cvts in nissan, I think that nissan would still be my favorite brand.

I love these videos! Could you please please please think about doing mechanical reviews for off road SUVs? Are Toyota Land Cruisers the most durable? Are Isuzu MUXs the most crash resistant? Do Nissan Patrols' large engine bays make them the most serviceable? Are Lexus LXs as reliable as Land Crusiers? Do any of these needlessly use proprietary parts? I'm guessing you probably don't have every car at your disposal but people like me watch these vids because they're interested in reliable, serviceable, and durable cars, and these vids might get more interest if you reviewed cars bought for those qualities, real or perceived. This Nissan actually looks pretty good compared to the competition. There is a multi link rear suspension and a lot of the control arm and suspension parts are made of aluminium. Theres a strut tower and designed in a way that servicing is still easy. The main problem with Jatco CVTs also seem to have some extra cooling allowance with the dedicated cooler and its own smaller CVT condensor.

Hey, nice video. Very quick and informative. Nissan makes some cool lookin vehicles. Just like my 1992 Nissan terrano. 2.7L turbo diesel 4*4. How about a review on a Lincoln MKT. Not much out there on my 2011 Lincoln 3.7L but pretty happy with it.

What exactly surprised you in this video, not to degrade it or anything, that a car has pipes, wires, hoses and components made of metal or plastic mounted in similar positions, just like any other car?

Excellent information from your channel. Can you please explain what actually vaccum or vaccum pressure in automotive
@speedkar99
@speedkar99 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Vacuum is air with pressure lower than atmospheric. The low pressure is formed when the piston moves down sucking air into the engine, creating vacuum in the intake manifold.

@@supersabrosinho With all the respect, the video, you're so fascinated by, basically tells you this: this is a pipe and connects cat converter to a muffler; that is another, smaller pipe and it connects the master cylinder to the caliper, this is a hose and it goes from the radiator to the engine block, and this is a wire connecting a sensor to a controller, and that is a control arm, it holds wheel in place. If you cannot see it by yourself, or are not in a habit of reading service manuals, better do not work on cars. Cars look more or less the same, unless it is a Tesla.

@@walkbase pretty sure you are replying to the wrong person. I've replaced control arms, clutches, cats, and currently replacing the piston rings in my Acura 3.7. I'm no ASME master mech but I definitely know my way around the engine bay and electricals. Maybe read the post you are replying to next time? Dunno just FYI

Renault is fine, infact in Europe they are very popular with their reliable dCi(diesel common rail) and manual transmissions (North Americans, stop complaining about auto trans and buy manual, forever reliable and easy to fix). Real car enthusiast countries still uses manual trans, I do not know why it is so hard to shift gears for some people.

If this car had the GTR R35's power plant this basically would be a four door GTR. Due to the way it looks side by side with a GTR you'll get the picture.

Stick shift all the way. Unfortunately they're a dying trend these days. DSG/DCT is fine, or even at least standard torque converter auto feels more engaging than a CVT. But nothing beats the feel of a manual transmission.

I know Jatco makes CVT transmissions for Nissan, Mitsubishi and Mazda which is one of the worst companies to make transmissions. On the other hand Aisin makes transmissions for Toyota and Lexus. The best CVT I heard is made by Honda, yes they make their own and it's used on the HRV which is solid.
