Does it matter how you hit the axe? I imagine the axe's hitbox is square like everything else, so it would be faster to hit the front edge than the top. But it would kinda suck to have a perfect run and then lose a couple of frames because you hit the top of the axe, especially if Bowser's pattern necessitates it.
@Kosmicd126 жыл бұрын
You want to hit the axe as far left as possible and will lose 1 frame for each pixel farther to the right you land on it. There are about 4 spots you can land on the axe without losing any time.

Fun fact: once Mario starts swimming in a direction, he'll keep swimming in that direction without you holding a directional input. For example, once Mario swims right a few times, you don't have to hold down right. He'll still swim forward even if you keep pressing the A button. This can be useful for going under the fire bar where the ground is in 8-4 water, as well as walking to the pipe. Just note that Mario maintains his current acceleration while swimming without direction, so once you touch the ground you'll have to press right to swim at top speed again.

@TungTran-ne3me3 жыл бұрын
if killing the hammer bros in the entry of 8-3 is hard, you can actually bump into the pipe and go the bottom route while the hammer bros are in the middle and top route. Play as usual until the next 3 - route ( idk what its called) take the bottom route as the hammer bros jump from the bottom route to the middle one as you got close to it. Play the rest of the level as usual and in the end, you dont need to slow down or bump into the block, just do a little jump onto the last block, do a full jump, grab the top of the flagpole ( since you already slowed down by bumping into the pipe) I just discovered that today and hope you find this useful

What about the Nintendo switch version, does that also run at a slower frame rate than the console version?

does anybody know the frame rate that the nintendo switch port runs at? just asking
@megawatt17384 жыл бұрын
I started out playing nes emulator on switch, then switched to original NES. The switch has wayyyyy more input lag than the NES, making switching from one to the other very hard, as I’m wanting to press buttons .1 seconds early. Also of course the frame rate is slightly higher.

I love the game. I have been playing the game when I was very young that I memorized every level in the game. I finished the game a couple of times but I don't remember ever doing a run warpless. I have watched Mario speedruns for over 2 years now, I just can't stand it anymore, i'll try my first speedrun to see if I can even get 20 minutes

Did you ever attempt this speedrun? We need updates!
@protocol37-t1n3 жыл бұрын
@@unfortunate4768I attempted it for a few months but since so many new games were coming out, I completely forgot about Mario

I use the switch nes emulator with the pro controller. I wish I had the normal nes but I don’t and I always wanted to try out speedrunning. Always looked at speedrunning as an art do I decided to start with a game I see a lot of speedrunning on and it’s super Mario bros. Hope I get better with these instructions and have a good day
