If you enter the video it says is a LOTAD (Low optimized tool assisted demostration) so this might be why you were saying movement wasn't fully optimize

it's probably a LOTAD cause of the complex tricks takes too much of the time in creation so the rerecords are inaccurate for how fast it is.

At 25:00, that part is usually a softlock because the code being executed makes no sense, somehow he used this crash to jump to his own code/data. So basically the reason it doest softlock there anymore is because he replaced the broken code with something that makes sense to the console.

ACE is my favorite video game quirk, I just wish I understood how this one worked if only to see the crazy speedruns it produced.

Basically you trick the game to execute something in memory which is not code. For computers there is no difference between executeable code and data, so they basically write some values into memory (by manipulating game objects) and then execute these values as code (by exploiting a game bug). In this case it executes some in game object coordinates as code. Usually stuff like this always crashes the game since it makes no sense, but if you do it right you can now do whatever you want with the game.

I'm assuming you've figured this out by now, but this is a LOTAD, not a TAS. There will probably be faster setups found for the ace in the future so it wouldn't even make sense to make a fully fledged tas right now.

yeah, it seemed some of the segments where human played inputs so I was very confused! Turns out its a Low optimization TAS to show off the new ACE strats :)

Its a cutscene warp. After each ground pound there is a cutscene so just make the game load the one after the second hit and finish him off. Like loading into Gannon after the tennis fight.
