I’m actually really happy with the way my 2023 1200 sounds. No need to change. But everyone’s different. You do you.

I agree. It's pretty quiet when you're at a stop light, but as soon as you really open up the throttle and the engine is under load, it ROARS to life. I love it.

I have just installed the same exhaust on my 2023 Thruxton RS, came with spacers and fits and sounds great. I also used an exhaust sealant past when fitting the slip on to the bike. I left the catalyst in place and removed the baffles for what I consider to be the perfect exhaust sound. 👍

Just got the same exhaust system and fitted on a 2024 Speed twin 1200. I didn't had any of the problems that you stated in your video. Left and right exhausts fitted perfectly (no forcing or adjustment necessary ). Until now no engine management light on the dash. I'm really pleased with the exhaust, definetely best bang for the buck

Glad to hear that, I remember I reported the issues back to the manufacturer, a few others reported the same in the comments if you check, probably they sorted out the issue at some point. As for the light, it disappeared automatically as I put miles on the bike. Enjoy!

Hello again, I decided to bother after all and they went on with no problems, perhaps the right hand bracket has been slightly altered? Anyway thanks again for the upload, I am running them with the CAT in and baffles out, plenty loud enough and haven't stopped smiling since !!

The spacing between the swinging arm and the silencers is an issue with most if not all ST exhausts, even the standard silencers move on the rubber rear mounts. The only thing that stops them moving is the joining clamp which feels like it has to be over tightened to stop them moving, a small tap on the side of the silencer with the palm of your hand will tell you if it is tight enough. The right hand side is definitely a problem area as my standard silencer rubbed on the bottom shock bolt when the suspension compressed!

This seemed to be an issue for sometime as other commenters said as well. I wonder why they haven’t addressed it. I reported it to the seller though.

Ha Ha! Famously, the last Bonnevilles to come out of Meriden also needed their exhausts hit to align them.

Did you let the engine idle until the cooling fan kicked on and off?
@ben.aka.bigben9 ай бұрын
this is a matter of putting miles on the bike until the ECU gets adapted. Usually people misled by "idle run until fan kick off". But I read a lot about the ECU and it gets adapted by miles.

Where did you bought the exhaust system?

Why does hardly no one remove the stock muffler DB killers before they spend money on new mufflers? Because of their length, they definitely sound better than any aftermarket mufflers I've heard so far. Longer, gives you a deeper note. My US version OEM mufflers have a straight through baffle that is the same diameter as the header pipe. Great flow. Great sound. A little more weight than aftermarket, but I don't care. No money spent. Yes, I too was foolish and bought some Motone Saturn Vs. What a mistake!

Hi Ben, I have the same bike and have fitted the same exhaust. I also had issues fitting these. I struggled the get them to seal correctly and kept finding that I would get a slight leak from the join. I’ve only ridden it a small amount so far, so not had any issue with engine management light, but did you ever get your the bottom of what was causing this and did you get it fixed?
@ben.aka.bigben Жыл бұрын
Hey, the engine code went off and it wasn't 3 cold start as many said. It went off by putting miles on the bike. The good things about Triumphs are the adaptive ECUs so it got adapted to the exhaust. as fo your leakage, get a proper sealant and seal it properly I would say.

All sorted now. Went for a ride today. Need to try it with out the baffles now

Hi Ben, I took the baffles out today and notice on start up after, it really struggled. Did you notice it struggling to start when you first removed them?

@@Whe173 hey mate, on one occasion it happened the bike almost shut down during low rev ride. But only that and never happened again. Let your ECU adapt to it by putting miles on it

Thanks for the video, I was just wondering, I have bought similar exhausts for my T120, Weslake Don’t make them any more for this model and I am interested in the DB killers and how they fit into the exhaust. I don’t want to drill any holes in the exhaust so do these just fit with a grub screw into the can internally?
@ben.aka.bigben4 ай бұрын
@@michaelspike2819 yes, the DB killers for my model held with one screw and it comes off easily.

I've been interested in these as well for my 2023 ST900 and wonder if I will have any fitment issues as well since the 2023 models are Euro5 which now have the exit headers from the CAT welded on where in previous years they were clamped on. I am also wondering if it is common to have the ECU fuel management light come on when only replacing exhaust silencers? I've watched what seems like a ton of slip on exhaust videos over the years and this is the first time I'm seeing notice of this when the CAT remains in place. Has it been resolved yet? How are you feeling about these Weslakes at this point?
@ben.aka.bigben Жыл бұрын
The Engine management light disappeared after some ride. ppl say its 3 cycle of the bike getting warm and cold again, but I think it just comes with miles. The lovely ECU will adapt itself on Triumphs. The exhaust sounds fantastic and I will keep them on. the only issue was to tackle the spacing on the right side. I would say check and agree with the supplier to make sure its 100% compatible else you should be able to return them.

Why everyone talks about performance in these kind of bikes? If you want performance you get a Speed triple or similar. These bikes are made to be all-rounder but i won't call it a performance bike to be honest, neither the ThruxtonR is.
@ben.aka.bigben Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily limited to speed. With these kind of bike you want more torque and a better airflow usually results positive in it. At the end of the day that engine is made 1200 for a reason.

You change gear so much, slip the clutch more, much smoother and easier. You upset the bike changing gear whilst leaning
