The incredible thing about all of this of course is that it is all a series of unforced errors on their part. They could choose to stop punching themselves in the face any time they wanted by simply communicating transparently about what the software development team is up to.

I have been shown information from Škoda that suggests the ME2.4 cars will go direct to 3.2 at the dealership. And once they have that done then they will roll out OTA 3.1 and so forth. We shall see. I think you are right, they will get us to 3.5 but then I think we will just get bug fixes. I'm OK with that, my car works well and the painful things like no battery percentage have been fixed.

One of the bigger setbacks for us living in colder climate is the news that the "old" Enyaqs won't ever be getting battery preheat before supercharging. Just guess we will have to enjoy the "fast" wave of 55-60kW for 10 minutes before the battery is "warm" and accepts 80kW for 2 minutes.

04A3_03 just landed in Scotland Started the update at 8am when I arrived at work. At 4.30pm it still hadn't finished. 5 minutes later it was fine though.

For my ICAS1 04A1_01 update I received 2 warnings I had to resolve before I could start the installation: parking lights and windows. Parking lights was easy: turn the switch from Auto to Off did the trick. The windows warning was not so easy to get rid of. Although all windows (and doors) were closed the warning was shown. So I opened and closed the windows but that did not help. Repeated that several times without success. Only after I held the button a bit longer after the windows had closed, the warning went away. Maybe this will help others. Have an 80X Sportline with ME3.0 built in Spring 2022.

Still really good content, thank you :) I think Skoda already did hurt them self. Example in Denmark Enyaq used to be the favorite electric car of choice, but theese days they aint even named in different tests. Also we´re close to the 3-4 year after new purchage where many usaly sell the car to get a new version ( in this case that would be a 24 model. But many will hesitate to buy a new skoda as they dont deliver as prommised, even through they keep their price high compared to example Tesla. Meaning reselling will be with a greater loss, than usual. I Think to make this greate again Skoda needs to speak up, what will happend, from now on. what to expect becourse as it is for now alot of us will NOT buy another Skoda for the above reasson. for real my phone gets more updates and software improvements than my skoda. As its a pc on weels it should be easy example to buy to activate features like camping or dog modes, using the skoda navi to optimice the battery on fast chargeres etc. i did expect this from Skoda... but as for now even if its actualy is the most enjoyable ride i ever had, its not skoda or SUV fucktonality sadly..

Hi Matthias, discovered your channel lately and going slowly through your english videos since I also have a SKoda Enyaq 80X ordered in December 2021 and delivered in November 2022. Quite happy about the car for the last year except for the software side and responsiveness, although I'm running ME3.2. Your channel has unfortunately washed out my hopes for any real improvement. Still I'm interested in your references to versions higher than ME3.2, ie. 3.5 or other but not ME4.0 which I understand is only available with the new Enyaq. Your link only refers to 3.2 not higher. Do 3.5 or 3.6 really exist? Do some Enyaq drivers have it installed? If so, what does it bring/add? Thanks again for your channel and for your reply hopefully! Keep up the good work!

Matthias, thanks again for this clear update 😊 Did I hear you say that generally speaking CATL is used in 50/60/80 rear wheel drive? I thought from one of your early posts on an German Enyaq forum it was the 80X that had CATL for its extra power and all others had LG Chem.

You heard that right. The LG Chem Cells have a bit more power (hence they have the higher charging power up to 170kW) or are more robust with higher currents than the CATL. That's at least my information i found

Nice, it could be the actual Service Campaign for the ME2 ENYAQs. They get 3.2 at the dealership now instead of ME3.0

Thank you Matthias for pointing out the real problems. Skoda designs and builds fantastic cars, but imo are ‘hostages’ of Cariad. One question though. Why is an update from ME 3.0 to ME 3.1 of any interrest?

For most of the people its about the displayed data in the small drivers cockpit. With ME3.1 you get another view on the right side of the display (now only navigation if active else there is nothing) where you find the data from the Vehicle Menu about consumption, time elapsed since start and so on

Surely they will have to maintain 3.x if only for security reasons....We have seen how unsupported software is vulnerable to security threats, especially as mobile device tech improves, especially as customers have other software on their phones which will be connected to the cars... PS.. I went and had a look in my Enyaq. It was ordered in 2021, built in December 2022 to a 2022 spec with 2023 car??? delivered in Feb 23. I have no reference to the ID software version on any of my screens at all.😮 I have hardware H30, Software 0561, Display unit hardware H8, Display Unit software 110, Nav Database 23.8 and Media Codec 3.1.4...that is all

Software 0561 is know as ME3.1 (or 3.2 since they use the same software version number 😳)

This is exactly the type of information we need from Skoda. It's much easier to wait for something if you understand the steps leading to it, rather than just getting seemingly random updates with no detailed descriptions. I agree that they will have to go route 1 and maintain both software branches. I doubt the software will be too different, and the ME3 vs ME4-difference is probably more down to hardware drivers for the infotainment system itself. The applications and actual features will probably be similar enough for the development to be pretty easy. What will be difficult for Cariad is testing, documenting and deploying the software. If they get the hang of deployments when working with pushing out 3.1 (as you describe in the video) maybe they'll have all pieces in place to deploy future updates easier. In that case, I doubt pushing at least major features (battery preconditioning, dog mode, camp mode) will be an issue. In fact, if we get preconditioning I'm happy with the car. Dog mode/Camp mode would be very welcome, and anything beyond that is just an extra bonus. Phone as a key would be awesome, as well as unlocking via an app. Oh, and of course they'll have to sort out the whole user profile mess. IIRC someone managed to unlock a Phone as a Key-menu with ODB Eleven, but of course it wasn't usable.

Unfortunately I doubt that there will be anything done to 3.x once 4.0 is in production. Taking care of existing customers isnt in the VW-DNA. Only if authorities force them to fix dangerous flaws it will reluctantly be done.

Exactly this, preconditioning and camp/dog mode is exactly what finishes the car. Couldn’t think of anything else that I would need.

@@marcohillenga5068 At least from my 3.0 perspective the most important thing would be to get the interrupt handling in order to prevent the occasional "freak-outs". Unfortunately we have a pretty long list of real defects, poor implementation and missing parts of the software.

There is also a fourth option. Hire a different company to take over the code and introduce small improvements, let the customers choose and pay for it. I would not mind to pay some amount for interesting features of the car.

VAG will never ever admit their failure by giving up on Cariad. But even if they would, I would not pay for updates that were promised for free.

@@RicoD5 It's OK - I know there will be people that will be willing to pay and people that will not. I am not forcing you. I am asking for the option for myself, if the problem is funding. I am, in general, not sure if Cariad was a good or bad option. What needs to be said is that the SW in the car works for absolute vast majority of functions. I would question the user stories in some cases, but that has little to do with the development. Extreme cases of SW freezing and so on - that's a different topic, of course. Here I would question if they have sufficient telemetry and if they have a process to analyze suspicious telemetry records automatically, but again, this is not directly the responsibility of a development company, it goes more towards the product owner. I am not saying the company is good or bad, what I am saying is - trying to find someone to blame might not be the most productive approach in such cases.

That's an interesting idea and i even thought about something similar myself (hacking the car and the software through reverse engineering and with the help of leaked documents if any are available. I know it's a wild and stupid idea)...but then i dropped the idea because it will never gonna happen.

@@Speicherelektrisiert In HW this is extremely difficult. Not impossible, but really difficult. This would be a multi-year journey with limited return. On the other hand, someone like that probably started the whole OpenWRT movement... So - not impossible.

Maybe they go back to servicing upgrades because of reliability issues. For a brand it would be very bad news and expensive if due to OTA suddenly a flock of cars could stop driving. That would reach headlines. But then again, Tesla does it all the time, and now also the Chinese brands. EU car manufacturers are just a decade behind the competition with software and EV in general.

Had my Enyaq for 15 months now with no software updates (it's on 3.0).....I have a 3 year business lease and i'm not convinced that it won't end up going back with 3.0.....pretty rubbish.

I mean I don't really care if I have to hand over my car for one or two days each year to car service to get my software in Enyaq updated. What I don't like and I'm upset about is the way how Skoda is ignoring the communication and how they keep lying to their customers. It's not even possible to express the stupidity of the software development company that made software impossible to update from ME3.0 to ME3.1 / 3.2 via USB sticks. The worst thing on the situation is that my car is being obsolete and I'll have many issues to sell it once ME4.0 is rolled out. Nobody will want used Enyaq with ME3.0 which is old, stupid and cannot do basic things - Plug & Charge, battery pre-heat and has slow charging curve. Volkswagen is once again small indie company without budget and possibility to deliver something they promised. This Enyaq I have is definitely last car from VW concern. I'm sick of being f**ked by them all the time.

I couldn’t agree with you more about all you say. VAG might have an “EV-gate” on their hands. Besides ME 2.x and 3.x owners, this might also be the future for ME 4.x and 5.x owners etc. as Cariad will have more and more challenges maintaining an ever increasing number of major versions.
