@@filmorebrowning7251 Yes you should be able to calibrate this with any receiver. If you struggle to get the ESC calibrated try to reverse the throttle channel in the radio.

OK, one thing I noticed every video I have watched. Everyone has 160 amp ESC in their vehicle it is not the factory one that came in the vehicle in the first place so wouldn’t the parameters be different on the original ESC? Also, I bought a Spektrum esc smart program card will discard work in the original stock ESC? I swear every video everybody has to 160 amp ESC.

Hey my car goes forward for revers and reverse fir forward. But the thing is I know for a fact I did neutral then forward then backward for the calibration. Idk what’s wrong

That's probably One of two things. If you have brakes in reverse but not forward. Check your wiring and make sure your motor and esc are plugged in A to A, B to B and C to C. If that doesn't do it try flipping your servo reverse switch and recalibrate.

Hi there, I am working under the assumption that did calibrate the throttle range for the new radio. So the only things I can think of would be an issue in voltage drop on the receiver when you pull the throttle. This is pretty easy to solve with a low voltage protector such as this one www.hobbytown.com/spektrum-rc-voltage-protector-spm1600/p6570 The other thing would be something bad in the transmitter or receiver if the system was working properly with the other radio.

Hi there. depending on what esc you have you may need to apply a throttle command to enter into calibration mode. What esc do you have?

@@Hobby365 thanks for your reply. I dif some more troubleshooting and discovered that when I plugged the throttle plug into the servo I get power when I turn the steering wheel on the remote. So either the receiver is bad or the remote is bad. I have a new receiver on back order.

Could be a couple issues first did you double check the esc is plugged into the receiver correctly. it is pretty easy to plug them in back ward. The other is to make sure your batteries are fully charged. Hope that helps

I have seen radios be bad and it doesn't loose calibration as much as the ESC sees the throttle input when it is powered up putting it into failsafe mode. Try recalibrating then moving the throttle left to right (not forward and back ward to apply the throttle) and see if the throttle responds you have a bad radio. Magnets can cause the ESC to loose its calibration. So keep it away from big speakers. Also if you have AVC. Make sure to let the car rest after you power it on so that the AVC can set up. If you are moving it around it will not set up. What I like to do is turn your steering to one side before you power it up. When the steering goes centered the AVC is ready to go and the ESC will arm.

There are so many reasons that can cause your issue. Bad components, improper gearing, things bound up in the car, improper selection of components...the list goes on and on.

That could literally be anything. The ESC could be plugged in the wrong port or plugging it in backward, Could be low or bad batteries, could be the calibration of the esc, radio or avc. Could be the receiver isn't bound to the transmitter, could be a bad servo causing a brown out in the receiver. Could be bad esc. ETC ETC ETC.

You can try a few things. Your controller may have a expo, end point or Throttle limit switch. The expo setting should be at zero, your end points and throttle limit switches should be all the way up. Also make sure your Throttle trim is centered. Hope this helps.

This may sound like a stupid question, but I’m new to the hobby. I picked up the Arrma fireteam as it fit the needs I was looking for, and the sound of those gears clicking together at startup concerned me. When rolling the car by pushing it the gears sound like that but a little worse while rotating. I can’t find any videos of what the diffs sound like while just being rolled by hand and not under power so I’m hoping it’s a normal sound. Any thoughts?

Those sounds are normal. The sound of metal gears running on each other are noisy anyway. When you roll the model you will find that the magnets in the motor are aligning as it turns. That will also produce alot of gear noise. No need to be worried I think everything is good.

I just bought the firma 150 amp esc. I am trying to follow your directrions, The esc does not do anything after I hit the set button to set neutral, I complete the steps you give and nothing happens. Does not complete. My spektrum rx is bound and servo fuctions. I have tried this many times. What do you think.? I even thought the esc was bad and got a replacement. I am a novice to surface equipment but have flown quads and planes. I dont get what is different. On the picture above, it looks like you have the esc jumper system going to the rx. That is the way I have it. I have change wires . What is the orange and black wire that comes out with the start and setup buttons. ? Am I supposed to use it to the rx?

What your experiencing may be a symptom of improper controller set up. Make sure your throttle trim on your controller is centered (or zero). Make sure the endpoints are set to maximum. If your radio is a computer radio It may be best to do a factory default reset on the model you are using or start a new model completely since you are still new with it. If this is a Spektrum AVC receiver make sure you calibrate the AVC after you bind the radio. Watch this video for the calibration instructions kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3y4qpJsZs6nhZI I think what you are seeing as a jumper system is either the fans plugging into the ESC or the wires going to the capacitor. The multiple wires on the power/setup switch just there for switching functions. There is really no need to worry about their functions. The esc is only plugged into the number "th" or number 2 slot in the RX.

@@Hobby365 As an update, controller setting are all centered as a new unit. Avc calibrated and working. I am using a servo wire splitter going from the esc to the fan plug and to the rx in the throt slot. Wires are all in correct directions, rx black to outside and white to inside towards lettering. Esc black to the outside as marked. I can turn on power to esc starts off solid red to flashing green to flashing red. When I power up the esc holding down the setup button flashes red, when I hold down the push the setup key it to start config the red lite goes out and does not come back on.

Timing is an art that most people never take the time to fully understand and confidently give advise about. I fall in that category as well. Messing up the timing has consequences in failed motors, failed ESC's and puffy batteries. That is why you are struggling to find advise on how to tune timing.

If you buy a JUST the Spektrum Firma 150 ESC separately by itself, the manual that comes with it is wildly wrong. The correct one is the Arrma manual for the car the ESC comes in. The Horizon manual is wildly inaccurate

That is one of the very reasons I do these videos and it's not just horizon. Traxxas and Kyosho have hidden calibration menus in their radio systems. No where is that even listed in the instructions.
