It's a shame the WiFi features do not actually work. It connects, yes, but it does not update, it always hit some sort of error or time out or gets stuck. I only managed to get the update to work the first time I ever used the transmitter and it has never worked since. Arguably we paid more for a feature that doesn't work. Other than that, it's a really nice transmitter apart from some of the glitchy/unpolished LCD animations but you can live with that.

There's some short comings in the WiFi setup that the developers overlooked. 1 You can't connect to a WiFi network unless it's broadcasting it's SSID. So if you want your SSID hidden for extra security, you won't be able to connect to it with the NX transmitter! 2 The password is limited to a specific amount of characters. So if you use a long password, it won't work! I don't remember off the top of my head how many character spaces it is at the moment. 3 The developers didn't make an option to delete old wifi configurations! The only way I found to delete a wifi configuration, is to do a factory reset! That's not practical, because it deletes everything on the transmitter! If they can fix these problems, then the WiFi feature would become a nice feature to use!

Hi Tom, I’d really like to see a video tutorial on an actual setup from beginning to end of a bnf aircraft using the preset, and a setup using templates, those two (preset, and templates) are still a bit confusing to me. Maybe I’m just slow, but it would be very helpful. Thanks.

I got around the WIFI thumb twiddling by downloading the update file to my computer and then downloading the file to the radio's SD card with a USB cable. The update and p/w procedures worked OK from there. Due to limited radio memory, I had to install a micro SD card. If needed, you can remove the SD card after the updates.

hrumph....My NX8...When I log in, it shows my name and all the dots next to password, as I already have an account, then goes to "thumb twiddling" screen, and the "loading" bar stays still, and nothing seems to happen. :(

I can't seem to get my nx-8 to register. For the nick name space do I make one up for myself? using the drop down menu it only allows me to enter NX-8 but tells me model number doesn't match when I try to register. Also it says serial number is wrong taking it right from the transmitter screen.Finally how or what is the serial number for XML file found/. can't seem to be able to get the answers I need. Sure wish I had a phone number to call and get answers. This can't be this hard to do

How in the world do I find the serial number for my new NX10? Even the "where to find your serial number" link on the registration page downloads a PDF with bad instructions, because the instructions apply only to the DX models. Going to the System Menu and hitting Next twice doesn't get me to the serial number. I've created an account and downloaded software updates, but I can't complete the web-based registration because I can't access the serial number. Thanks.

I just put the NX10 on preorder..I love how easy you can use it over the DX series and how there is a great way to just choose a plane and it sets it up with out going to the manual to set it up and then you can adjust the switches to others but the settings are all set up from the way it is in the manual without actually doing it and that is great!!

I keep getting authentication failure messages when I try to connect to Wifi. It displays my make and model of wifi router. I input my pass word for the router then either press the roller or press the back button and it goes to the log in screen but the pass word is not there, just a red bar. Then it displays the authentication failure message. What's happening? I've tried it numerous times and I'm getting frustrated.

I put in my password and there is no connect..how do you enter a password? You skipped right over that part...afraid to go back for fear of losing the 13 digit password and have to painstakingly thumb it back in yet again....So tried to use the micro sd card to update ..it took an 1/2 hour to get the thing seated in the card socket to where the transmitter recognized and read the card and the auto load of the firmware file didn't...so still can't update the firmware...this is on a NX6..moving on to the USB windows 10 never recognized the transmitter as a drive.. very frustrating...

checking the serial number screen now shows that 3.04 is above the NX10 designation. I assume that my NX10 is now running the latest beta version NX10 V3.04.01 (17 FEBRUARY 2021). When I check updates on my NX10 using the wifi the 2 x updates are listed but are not confirmed as ( installed ).

I am trying to roll back an update on my NX8, which I did register. I get as far as WiFi Credentials. When I click on connect it says, "Failed! Authentication Failure." I entered the information correctly, any suggestions?

I couldn't roll back the update with WiFi. Ended up using a Sim Card. It amazes me they encourage you to update firmware when they know the latest one is flawed.

I was able to connect and register my NX8 a few months ago ok. Now it won’t connect to WiFi. Just sits and shows “connecting”. Had to cycle power and try again and got connected. I was able to update to latest firmware. These are getting too complicated.

I hear you use an SD card with one of them small SD cards inside of it, you download it from your old transmitter to it and then take the small one out and put it in your new transmitter.

My NX6 will not update with wi-fi. Works fine with sd card but no go with wi-fi. Talked to Horizon support about this when I first got the radio and they said I had to update it the first time via SD card then from that point the wi-fi would work but that was incorrect. Have had the radio for almost 2 years now and it works fine but it does not update via wi-fi as it should. Too bad I was misled and not supported! Be careful if you're considering this radio because of the wi-fi capability.

Hi, I've got an NX8, great transmitter, but how do I connect to the WiFi? I've gone through all the options to connect to my WiFi, but when I type in the password, there's no option to proceed, except Back, which of course, cancelled the password. I've restarted the transmitter and almost toyed with factory reset, which Wipes everything I have done already. Regards, Philip

It's not you, it's not intuitive. I had to hit the back arrow button, then proceed through the toggle option tree, but either way, both login and register continue to error, so far, this sucks.

I think the only way you’ll be able to use earbuds is if you plug them in to the back were where they say the headphones plugged in I don’t think you can do it wirelessly. To be able to pair it up to their Wi-Fi. That I don’t know.

I just did the latest update on my bran new NX8. The transmitter downloaded the updates and now it's flickering On and Off every 4 seconds trying to reboot. Please Help! Also do I need to download all the updates or just the most recent? 3.06.02 ? Registered my brand new NX8 (eventually!) but can't perform any updates. I can log into the website from a pc just fine but can't via the radio WiFi, it just sits there after entering username and password with the Thumb Twiddling message - for ever. When I back out to the Log in/Register/Deregister etc menu, the radio locks up and I have to hold the on/off switch down for around 10 seconds intil it switches it off and start again. I've tried downloading the update file onto an SD card, but the radio insists there's no SD card installed and I've tried 3 or 4 different SD cards in it. Am I missing a step somewhere, or do I have a faulty radio?

Try updating by putting the file on the radio via a usb. That should also help update the wifi firmware and may increase its success rate.

Syltcam vor 1 Monat I have found the issue, the cursor for typing the password has to be on the most left side on the screen for typing your password. Then the password is in the password field after return to the menue for connecting. I hope I could help you.

I own an Nx6. When updating on WiFi the twiddling thumbs message comes up and that’s where it is stuck. After an hour of twiddling thumbs I gave up. Any ideas on how to correct this.

@@SoCalSkiffLife I can't quite remember how exactly, but I set it up via the USB cable. Take your charging cable plug it onto a pc/laptop and do it via the Spektrum website and copying the files onto your trans manually

I have a new NX10 and have downloaded and installed the updates 3.03.03 and 3.04.01PB a couple of times. The download and install process occurrs as per this KZbin session however, sometimes the NX 10 will display (installed) beside the update but currently after completing the process there is no word of ( installed) beside the update, please advise what I can try next

When you turn off your transmitter up in the right hand corner it will tell you what you’re running just for a couple seconds you’ll see

I purchased an NX6 and 3 planes. The Draco, Viper 90 and a biplane. The only plane that was already listed in the radio was the biplane. If I do an update will the other two planes be loaded into the TX??? The date sticker on the back of the TX says 2/20

@@SpektrumRCvideos Well I have spent 2 days trying to get my unit registered and there is some kind of glitch in my NX6 that isn't allowing me to get to the serial number screen. Now of coarse I can't get it looked at or returned because it's not registered. So after spending over $3500. on planes, a radio, batteries and all the support equipment. I CAN'T EVEN FLY. Thanks for nothing Spectrum. You guys suck and are NOT there for your customers.

I've registered my NX6, I was a previous Spektrum Member so I added the NX6 to my account, I setup the WiFI, successfully connected, then successfully connected the transmitter to the internet. I did the CHECK FOR UPDATES and its just stuck on Thumb Twiddling, been doing that now for over an hour, can't back out of the menu and the unit wont power down, any suggestions please?

If you are having trouble with Wifi, we suggest downloading the update right from the Spektrumrc.com web page. You can register it and update it much like any of our DX line of radios. You can transfer the update to your NX6 either with a USB cable or SD card. Once you have updated it should work much more reliably over wifi. Hope that helps!

I had the misfortune of trying to install Airware 3.04.01 beta which was posted for a short time and then removed. I download the software with the WiFi and clicked install. I stepped away from the transmitter for a few moments and when I came back the transmitter was off. I waited a few moments and then I turned it back on and the switch blinked twice and the screen showed a logo and a progressive indication scrolling to the right. It was stuck in a loop repeating the same thing over and over again. I tried holding the on/off switch down to see if would reset the transmitter and after one minute I stopped with no result and it was still stuck in the loop. I had to unplug the battery to turn the transmitter off as the on/off switch would not respond. Next I went to spektrumrc.com and downloaded Airware 03.03 (the previous version) onto my SD card to force the transmitted to reinstall the Airware. Remember the SD card must be a Class 6 or less, 32GB or smaller and formatted FAT or FAT32. Some Class 10 SD Cards will work from top brands like SanDisk and Toshiba (I found this in information in the FAQ which you have to download from horizenhobby.com under "Manuals and Support” on any of the NX Transmitters display pages. I put the SD Card in the transmitted and 03.03. was installed. It appears that everything is working fine again and no information was lost. NX Transmitters FAQ: www.horizonhobby.com/on/dema...amily-FAQs.pdf Tips: 1. If your having any software problem on a Spektrum transmitter. You can reinstall the Airware software by downloading the appropriate version onto a SD Card. Put it in a turned OFF transmitter, then turn ON the transmitter and a new installation will start. This is NOT suppose to effect your stored models on the transmitter. This is a great option to have and saves us from having to send in our transmitter for repair. 2. If you do not want to lose valuable information stored in your transmitter and on your SD Card you need to back it up. Save your model setups to the SD Card occasionally and also create a backup folder on your computer’s hard drive and copy all folders on the SD Card to it. You need to do this anytime you have added new information to your models or have created new models you don’t want to lose.

I had the same problem with mine, I unplug the battery in the back and let it sit for about five minutes and then plug it back in it and work. But make sure you use the right username and password. That took me a couple of times. Good luck🤞

I just got my nx6 today. After wifi and logging into spektrum, i clicked on Check for Updates and it thumb twiddled for over 10 minutes. Never got me to the update screen

Try it again :) worse case is you can download the update from the Spektrum Community site, save to radio via USB or SD card and update from there. Hope that helps!

Tried a few times now. Screen just freezes on the twiddle thumb screen. I have to unplug the battery to to restart the transmitter. I log on to my wifi no problem, same with my spektrum account. It's just the "check for updates" that gives a problem. The sd card option isnt a viable option, as I havent owned a computer since retiring from the military 5 years ago! Lol

@@SpektrumRCvideos We just got our NX-8 today and we are experiencing the same issue with the Check for Updates. All the other WiFi utilities work. We were able to register the radio to Spektrum RC from within the radio. We verified at Spektrum RC and the new NX-8 radio has been properly added to our Spektrum RC account. We just cannot get the check for updates function to actually check for updates. We tried hard-resetting the radio by pressing the power button for 3 seconds and tried again but same outcome. It just gets stuck at Thumb Twiddling... Loading.... but doesn't get passed that.

I had same problem with NX6 I just Kept logging in and out and sat right next to Wi-fi box. My Wi-fi has a download speed of 50mbs!!!. It just suddenly checked for updates but came up blank. I tried again and there was an update with downloaded with no issues

Is there something I am doing wrong when I go to put my password in for the wifi I can only see the back bit in the corner of the screen so when I get back to the connect it has not saved my password on the nx6 please can u let me know what I am doing wrong

I have found the issue, the cursor for typing the password has to be on the most left side on the screen for typing your password. Then the password is in the password field after return to the menue for connecting. I hope I could help you.

I had the same problem, what I did is a hard reboot I took the back off unplug the battery and let it sit for about five minutes plug the battery back in and start it over again and it work but make sure you put your right username and password

If I have to keep putting up with this garbage I'll go ahead and pull the trigger on an open source transmitter, seems to be the same damn thing. NX6 doesn't have audio files, doesn't do shit over WiFi and have to have a computer engineering degree to work half of its properties.
