@@spellandshield Sure you can. 👀 There's nothing that says that you aren't allowed to talk to the person you just killed. The spell states that, "You grant the semblance of life and intelligence to a corpse of your choice within range, allowing it to answer the questions you pose. The corpse must still have a mouth and can't be undead. The spell fails if the corpse was the target of this spell within the last 10 days. Until the spell ends, you can ask the corpse up to five questions. The corpse knows only what it knew in life, including the languages it knew. Answers are usually brief, cryptic, or repetitive, and the corpse is under no compulsion to offer a truthful answer if you are hostile to it or it recognizes you as an enemy. This spell doesn't return the creature's soul to its body, only its animating spirit. Thus, the corpse can't learn new information, doesn't comprehend anything that has happened since it died, and can't speculate about future events." So even if it is considered your enemy it can talk to you, but it doesn't have to tell you the truth. If you really wanted to you could use a member of your party that it doesn't see is an enemy and have them speak to it as well. 🤷

Something else that could be seen as a hint to Ethel being part of a coven is dialogue with the guy hunting Astarion. If you talk to him after killing Ethel, he tells you that her coven is probably going to come after you and to watch your back.

Ethel speaks about how she wants to make a daughter when you use speaking with dead on her. You don't even have to disguise yourself for it. She also says that she has long long planned for her death, which means she is not even upset that she is "dead". She might even return or be revived by her sister, some sort of alarm spell when either one dies, the other goes there and revives. Will be interesting to see if that is the case. If there are 3 hags we at least will see the sister at minnimum, but we could potentially also face all 3 in Baldurs Gate. And they might be potentially very mad that you "killed" her. On the other hand, being not confrontational and leave her alive gives such a good reward, which makes me think that you might even get a much better reward and vastly different outcome in Baldurs Gate, especially when you manage to rescue the brothers. My plan is to do that, and then also rescue Mayrina and then have her go home with her zombie husband, and who knows what the kid will turn out to be after all that food. Its gonna be a pretty weird family, zombie dad, psycho mom, 2 stupid uncles and a halfhag as kid. That would be pretty wild and I don't think I am far off.

If you kill her, you can take her hair and get the 1+ ability score anyways. 🤷 Although if you talk to her with the speak with dead spell, she tells you that it's not the first time that she's died and she'll be back.

As early access go, I spare her when the build call for it, as we can't go past act 1 there aren't any reprecutions of doing so. As for the full game, I'm not sure... I think I will do a build that doesn't need that power boost initially. It's important to mention that her sister seems to be hunted or something similar, because one of the letters talk about how little time she has and how Ethel should be careful.

right up there with david attenborough'S. As for the Hag, i find it typical for a game to put these types of characters to enhance flavor and immersion. The truth is, D&D and most games havnt respectfully represented well these characters. Hags are creatures that have existed for hundreds if not thousands of years. If you follow that leogic, a hag should have hundreds of traps, contengency's , spell triggers , golems, minions that defend her who can do more then just melee you to death. Hags should have the ability to teleport away, she should have more then one lair. The beings couldn't of existed if any party of level 3 can just destroy her eazy. I killed her super eazy with the spell halt and speed potions. I held her and killed her in 1 round. At level 5 i kill her with my paladin in 1 turn. I wish she added something to the game other then wonder of meeting a hag. These creatures should have douzens of magical items and magical animals spying the swamp to warn her. Especialy with '' detect evil or good'' and '' detect alignement '' or '' read thoughts ''. Creatures like hags don't live for hundreds of years by getting smoked by level 3 aventurers. If you as a player reach level 5 or 6 within a game span of months imagine how powerfull a hag would be if shes 200 years old +. Overall i think the hag should never expose herself in public, especialy not in a grove with druids and devilkin. It would take 1 detect ''evil '' or '' detect illusion '' spell and she would be uncovered. On top of that the druids are always trying to figure out who is what. Out of all the classes the druids are the worst or some of the worst when it comes to trying to figure out your alignement and intention. Let me know what you guys think?

*spoiler* After killing Ethel, I found a wand in her lair which brings back Mayrina's husband from the dead. Great, so the hag wasn't lying. The catch? It resurrected him as an obedient zombie. And if that wasn't bad enough, I let Mayrina keep him lol I'm starting to think the Hag and I aren't so different after all

Honestly it doesn't matter if you keep her alive or kill her, because you can get the ability score increase either way. 1: Keep her alive and she'll give you her hair so then you can get a 1+ ability score. 2: Kill her and take her hair which gives you a 1+ ability score . If you choose number 2 and Speak With Dead with her, then she will tell you that she'll be back. Death is not an obstacle for her.

@@spellandshield No mods 🤷, I just watch regular people playing the vanilla version of it and they have access to the hair. It's possible that you have to do very specific things in order to get that outcome. Think about Alfira at the Druids Grove, you can speak with her about her music in a number of ways and only one of those ways will give you a concert with beautiful cutscenes. Similarly I think the hair is attained by doing a very specific type of interaction. There are many ways in which to complete the quest to help free Mayrina afterall.

@@spellandshield Killed her in her lair in my current playthrough. Knocked out Marina, and didn't get the promised hair, so reloaded, and killed her instead. You do not get the hair by looting her body. Didn't try speaking to her.

@@spellandshield Just spoke to her. She planned on eating the baby. Still don't believe you can get the hair if you kill her, and my guess is that knocking out, or killing Mayrina also prevents you from getting the hair.

Do you only get this power up if you spare the hag? Can I just kill her and loot it off her corpse as it seems like it's just a piece of her hair/skin? Does she disappear after you let her go, meaning can I accept the deal and kill her anyway? I don't know these things because when I played last was a long time ago and I killed her too fast I believe.

Marina does appear to care about her baby, as she tells the party that Ethel told her she'd take care of the baby and raise them to learn magic. We also see from the conversation that Marina was willing to go through with it because her self-loathing made her think she'd be a bad mother and that giving the baby to Ethel would give her a better life (of course the baby wouldn't have a better life with Ethel , but that was Marina's reasoning)

The worst type of Villain/Person in this entire game in Mayrina! What a distasteful personality, I reloaded my save and fought the Hag again just to let her be offed!!
