If you don't know about this game.
Each time you die, you start back at the beginning "1-1". But the levels are randomly generated so they'll be different every time.
There are ways to unlock shortcuts, but the more you play this game the more you realize that's not the fun way to play it.
Once you get into it... it's hard to stop playing. Every run is so different.

I really enjoyed watching this gameplay, it was markedly more than those speed runs, where you don't see the full beauty of the game. But it also hasn't been a highscore run with every ruby in the wall - in my opinion that is really annoying to watch. In my eyes, you hit the happy medium... congrats on that (and on the victorious run too) :)

Nice, I just had a run just like this. Except I wasted the ankh falling on spikes in the damn worm, so I couldn't go to hell. But it felt damn good to get to all those extra levels. Well played spelunker.

honestly atleast go to the black market with 50'000 if you can i understand if you cant but get the ankh it will save your ass and also just remember it can take like an hour to get a good run so just keep trying and im sure you guys will be able to do it gl also if you want a safer olmec fight then do this lure olmec to one side of the arena bomb around the other side untill you have a 5x5 pit into the lava then at the furthest side from olmec in the pit of lava place a rope lure olmec over then get on the rope so he will stomp into the lava i hope thats a good enough explanation but im unsure

With the Kapula cup, if you stand underneath a mummy it will give you a heart instantly. Also, with the crisknife you can destroy corpses for more blood.

My strategy is to always get: A) Climbing Gloves B) A Compass C) A Shotgun Even if you have to rob/kill the shopkeepers. A shotgun makes fighting much less risky, and climbing gloves will basically make the ice world a piece of cake, and the compass is a godsend in those dark levels. What I’ll usually do is find the damsel, clear a path with the shotgun, drop it by the door, and then retrieve the damsel, picking up the gun again before I leave. This system seems to work best for me.

Watching this gameplay made me so happy, watching my childhood. Its like its happening all over again, i miss the old spelunky and im sure you all do too, spelunky 2 is a great game but i will never forget spelunly 1. In my opinion og spelunky > spelunky 2 but that doesnt mean you guys cant prefer spelunky 2. It just made me really happy seeing theres a new spelunky game since i always missed the og. I havent played it in 3 years up until now in 2022 and seeing this gameplay made me remember it all again, i was gonna give up on it until i found the 2nd game :)

I tried to do a let's play like this, but then I got the Castle entrance alongside the Black Market, it was a shame... Then I just lost motivation in the game. P.S.: Of course this was a good run, but what did it for me was how Olmec got into the lava without having to try to crush you, it was just a satisfying fit into the hole. My god, that was great.

Those who dont know how to open the gate to golden city, heres my guide: You have to get the hedjet from the moai head from the ice caves. And in order to do that, you wanna go from the beginning, get the Edjet eye from the golden lock chest. Then make your way to the jungle, then find the black market with the edjet eye (Optional) Or you could blow up 2 kali altars. Once your in the black market buy or steal the ankh. Then break the moai head or die and respawn with the ankh and spawn inside the moai head. Then you will get the hedjet. Once you do that you can kill anubis and get his scepter and THEN you can open the gate to golden city.

you HAVE to get the ankh, its not optional. breaking open the moai using a ball and chain and stepping in gives you a diamond instead of the hedjet. getting the udjat eye, on the other hand, is optional. you can find the black market without it, you just have to be very observant.

Walked into those climbing gloves with no hesitation, respect They're TERRIBLE in Spelunky 1 and will 9/10 times fuck up your run in Worm, Temple, or Hell if you're using a jetpack but this run went smooth as butter

Do you always get Udjat Eye, Alex? That changes finding the Black Market from very hard to 95% success rate (for me). If you're missing it *with* Udjat Eye, you'll have to pay closer attention in Jungle-1/2/3. Don't skip large sections of the map (because the entrance might be there, and it might be too far away for your Udjat Eye to start ticking). I will often bomb through one or two walls in the Jungle levels, if I haven't found the entrance yet.

Also, if you don't fight the Black Market, there will be no more shops after the Black Market. If you fight, you can rob even more shops in the later levels. Imo, killing all the Shopkeepers in the Black Market is easier than killing the lone Shopkeeper guarding the exit in some of the Mines/Jungle levels.

That's Crysknife at 17:31. If you pick it up it becomes your default attack by replacing your whip. Anything you can hurt will die instantly from it. At 39:28 I killed Yama with it. And at 34:40 that's Vlad's Amulet. It makes you completely immune to fire and lava. You can even swim in the lava with it.

Yes, the beating the worm automatically skips to the 4th level of that world

Which is why, if you want to use the Crysknife on Yama, you need to do the Mothership. Because if you beat the Mothership, you get another Ice Caves level, which can have the Moai head (Moai head is skipped by going through the Worm instead). Also the reason you can't do Worm in the Jungle *and* go to the Black Market. So people almost never do the Jungle Worm.

You need to get the Ankh and then die in the ice world that has the statue, which gives you the golden helmet thing. Then you have to kill Anubis to get his weapon and with that plus the golden helmet thing you can unlock the golden door to gain entrance to the golden level. There you have to get the book of the dead in the center of the level...only THEN can you enter hell....(unless you use a hack or glitch of some sort)
