Have just been asked if I hang peel and stick. Popped into SC's channel to check, and the answer's a firm "Nope" The stuff just looks like all kinds of compromise, extra work and no benefit that I can see. Another beaut of a video. Thanks Spencer. Hope all's well with you. I spliced 3 sheets of cloud pattern paper together last week, and thought of you. Thanks for all the great content. Stay well!

Spot on! I’ve hung paper professionally for over 30 yrs. Today did some of this new crap! Loved the design, but it was awful! Will try pasting the wall tomorrow 🤣. Glad I retired before this gained popularity

Notes from Spencer Colgan: 1. Do not Hang this on texture, only flat walls. Skimcoat your walls if necessary. 2. Always prime walls. Here, I used a glue and water mixture over the Skimcoat. 3. Use a clear glue bed underneath your peel and stick. I highly recommend Dynamite 234. 4. Squeegee out the air and excess glue with a super thin smoother. Here, I used a thin “paint edger” from harbor freight. They work great as wallpaper smoothers.

Hi Spencer, I was watching one of your other videos and you referred me to this one. Thank you for your quick response. I'm the one that purchase the Los Angeles Clippers vinyl peel and stick. I've watched this video closely, but I don't recall seeing if you mentioned once I skim coat my textured wall, should I wait a day or hours for it to dry before I start applying my glue? Is the glue my primer? and if so, do I then start to applying the peel and stick wallpaper while the wall is wet from the glue? Also, I notice you're rolling something on top of the wallpaper, what is that that you're rolling? Should I be doing that as well? Does it apply to all vinyl? when measuring the wall, should I pre cut my wallpaper for where I'm going to apply it? And when I apply it for each column in my slightly overlapping it or budding them together. Thank in advance.

I just did three walls with peel and stick and they turned out perfect. No glue needed. Only took about 45 minutes total. First time ever using any type of wallpaper.

Thank you Spencer for teaching me how use glue and water to seal the wall and allow for better wallpaper manipulation. I tried both ways with and without sealer thinking regular prime paint was enough and verified what you recommend is true and better..

Thankyou for this, have subscribed. I have steamed off some wallpaper which had been on for around 40 years on a painted plaster wall. It has cleaned up really well and we are hoping to get a long life from the peel and stick which is a thicker style paper. Would you advise using adhesive as we live in a very hot and humid area.

Hello Spencer, its me again. Hope you made it through the storm, wasn’t to bad on my side, feather sound. Spencer i asked you about painting a peel & stick. My question is I would like to put a gray tone of peel & stick to cover a mirror wall, is there a brand you can recommend? Unfortunately this time i am going to have to work alone, I had surgery approx 6 months ago @ Tampa General, I am currently going through chemo, i have no immune system. So I’m on my own. Any recommendations? Once I would like to commend you on your videos. Your patience & how meticulous you are. Those attributes give me the enthusiasm to try your DIY methods. You have said, “patient, patient, patient” so true. Thank you Spencer.

I wish I had found this video before attempting to skim coat. All the other videos used a taping knife and I had all kinds of lapping lines. Any suggestions on fixing this before I hang my wallpaper. Last time I hung wallpaper we started at the edge and that was a disaster because the wall was crooked. Should you start in the middle?

i just have a small bathroom wall that i want to use peel and stick wallpaper. why can't I just sand down the wall to make it smooth before I hang? does it not get smooth enough? and what is the skim coat product you use?

Jolene. You could NEVER sand the wall down. You’d have to re-Sheetrock the entire surface. The product is called Georgia pacific joint compound.

I am so interested in the laser level that you are using...I have always used a spirit level and bob...I would like to get the laser level that you recommend and move forward however I am concerned about the laser beam...it seems that during use one would be hit in the eye with the beam perhaps causing eye damage...I understand not to stare at it but am concerned about it just "catching you by surprise"...you use it with such success that I impressed with its function....advice...thanks and your videos are great

This is fantastic! newbie question---are you using the glue/water mixture you made under the paper as you install, or are you just using regular wallpaper paste, or just glue? (Ingenious fix BTW to ensure the moveability of the peel and stick product!)

Regular wallpaper paste mam

People just need to understand that peel and stick is a temporary removeable product. If you want a professional permanent product just use regular wallpaper. All this prep work takes much longer than just using normal wallpaper.

Challenge! I have a challenge ahead; to put p&s on wood board similar to shiplap. I picked out the p&s to coordinate w/ other colors in use. I couldn't find what I wanted in reg. wallpaper that was affordable (Wm. Morris/ John Dearle Seaweed, bright green and blue). So.... I want this to be background for stud-wall shelves. It is really only for my enjoyment as there will be doors over the shelves. The shelves will be for an endless variety of bottles, etc. of bath products, all shapes and sizes. I don't want to spend forever dusting dozens of things, thus the doors. My dilemma is how to prep the wood boards? This is a 100 year old house with a 1940s addition -the bathroom. My 2x4s are actually 2x4!! As the daughter of a bricklayer, I have had some practice with trowels and skim coating, but I need this to be as quick and painless as possible. I have even thought about putting it up, leaving the backing on, with staples, or trim pieces. I don't care so about the gaps between the boards as stuff will be covering them anyway. It makes me almost cry to think about caulking the gaps, BINing the wood, and doing the glue. I have even thought about sticking it on formica and then tacking that up. Sorry to be so lame, but I am just exhausted with other things and need to get this done so the next thing can be done so the next thing can be done. Thank you for your videos. I do enjoy and appreciate your craftsmanship. I wish I didn't have so many demands on me right now and could afford to do it more "right." Not sure how to add a pix to comments so will make it my profile pix. Thank you for any advice or thoughts. Lynn

Lynn, Please do not try to hang this product on a shiplap-like surface. It won’t stay up. I bet that if you go to Home Depot, you will find an inexpensive comp you’d love. Why not try that ?

Does using the glue not make this removable?
@spencercolgan4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it makes it just like every other wallpaper, so it would not be considered “removable “when you use the glue but, I find it practically impossible to hang and very impractical without using glue

My first peel and stick job was a fail. My seams started to lift immediately. Subsequently, I've watched several hours of your videos. It's now clear that I should have skim coated, sealed or sized, used wallpaper paste as well, and then hung instead of just going over 10 day old orange peal latex. What do I do now? Can I effectively lift the paper somehow and use a paste in those areas? Or is it a total loss? Your wisdom is needed!

I ask you in light of the answer I will give you to be my 300th 5- star review on my Google please take one minute and do this for me because what I am about to tell you will salvage your project. Please remember to make a comment or two on my Google profile www.google.com/search?q=tampa%20wallpaper%20installer&tbm=#lkt=LocalPoiReviews&trex=m_t:lcl_akp,rc_f:nav,rc_ludocids:18168418332679895040,rc_q:Spencer%2520Colgan%2520-%2520Wallpaper%2520Installer,ru_q:Spencer%2520Colgan%2520-%2520Wallpaper%2520Installer,trex_id:XCBBr You have not completely failed… Take the wallpaper off slowly pulling it down as close to the wall as you can possibly do it going slowly; do not worry about bits and pieces of paint sticking to it Separate the pieces on the floor and put a piece of paper nearby labelling where each panel goes when you install it back onto the wall. Make the wall smooth with Skim Coat; let the Skim Coat dry overnight; then seal with Roman 999 or shieldz Clear. Then watch Spencer Colgan KZbin the secret of peel and stick after you go out and purchase a couple of gallons of Roman 880. Get yourself an eraser or two of them or a 9 inch paint roller and use it to smooth your product onto the wall Let me know if you have any questions
I just realised that my first answer was in fact the video you were looking at good for you. I’m happy to hear it

@@spencercolganso are these the steps: 1. glue/water mixture on wall, let dry, sand very lightly. 2. put wallpaper paste on wall 3. peel back top portion of wallpaper, 1 person hold, 2nd person pulls straight down and all the way off? 4. position as needed getting air bubbles out.
