EDIT: There's a 24 month rule when going for the welcome bonus on this card under the same business. While you can get multiple bonuses in a year under different businesses, if you only have one, it appears you need to wait 24 months between applications. Great video and I'm highly considering applying. One note, while it's true the Ink cards don't state in the welcome offer details that there's a 24 month rule or 48 month rule between bonuses, at the very bottom of the application for all the Ink cards, it states that the welcome offer can only be earned if you don't hold this card and have not received a bonus on this card in the last 24 months. Thought I say something because I've seen a lot of people and a lot of blog posts without this information.

Nice video as always. I have an unrelated credit card question... Do you know if it's possible to get the Venture card, then get the Venture X card 6 months later to get the welcome offers for both? If so would you recommend doing this? I already have the savor one.
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I know Cap1 technically has a limit of 2 cards that you can hold with them at a time, but that's not always enforced. If you can get the bonuses on all 3 cards then that's definitely not a bad idea. I would just add whichever one you'd like to keep long term first though between those two in case they do limit you on that 3rd card.
@MattWelterOfficial Жыл бұрын
Great video here Spencer! Like you said, the Ink Preferred is one of the most under appreciated Chase Cards for sure, and with those changes to the welcome bonus, 100K points is much more accessible with the lower spend requirement! Like you said, 100K Chase Points can be insanely valuable simply because I think Chase has the best travel partners & ecosystem out of any issuer out there. I really like that 3x on Travel category as well, since I do prefer airbnb's most of the time when I travel.

@ItsMeCJ Жыл бұрын
This was a very thorough breakdown. This card could be worth it now with that nearly 50% cut in min spend requirement. You also mentioned the one thing I don’t like about the CIC and that’s the lack of cellphone protection. Granted, my iPhone is about five years old now anyway, so it really doesn’t matter too much 😂😂. I’m tapped out for now on new cc applications since I’m working on the min spend for the Hilton honors business, and my Amex gold will be up for that retention offer request soon, but I’m not sure I want to push Amex for more points right now 🥶.
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I wish they'd add the cellphone protection to the Ink Cash, but I doubt that would ever happen while that protection is available on the Preferred instead. I'm excited to see what cards you add next though!!

Hello! New member here. Excited to learn. I am close to applying for the CIP for that 100,000 SUB. I currently have the VX I opened last month and the Hilton Surpass I got last week as we do a lot of travel staying at Hilton properties. My wife and I have a large spend coming up and thought this 8K lowered spend would be ideal for that expense. My wife and I both have Freedom cards with minimal CR points. Thoughts on applying for the CIP this soon?
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
The CIP is a great card to add if you can hit that lower spending requirement naturally. 100k Chase points are extremely valuable to me, particularly for Hyatt stats, and since you can transfer out to travel partners with this card, it makes it a solid pickup for travel purposes!

Spencer, Thank you so much for this channel and your advice. Since February, I acquired Chase Freedom Unlimited, Flex, Sapphire Preferred and Ink Unlimited cards and completed the bonuses. I consolidated the points to Sapphire and need help. Should I use the Sapphire exclusively as it has a 10% anniversary bonus? I'm also sure to cancel the Ink, but when and how should I do this?
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! I don't personally spend much on my Sapphire Preferred... just enough to keep it active in Chase's eyes with a couple subscriptions. I mainly use the CSP to transfer out to travel partners. But for your case, I'd recommend using each card for what it earns the highest in so you can use all of your Chase cards in the most optimal way.

@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
Hey! If you’re gonna spend more than $2.5k on dining in the first 6 months, then the Resy offer would be better. There are also 150k offers floating around here and there so maybe try to get one of those first!

What do you think about T-Mobile recently removing the $5 auto-pay discount for people who use credit card payment, but giving the $5 auto-pay discount to people who use debit or checking?
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
I hadn't heard of that, but I think it makes sense on their end. When people use credit cards, companies lose money on transaction fees, but that is much less so the case with debit cards and bank accounts.

What's the no annual fee downgrade path, and when is the earliest I should consider doing so?
@skylerssupercarlife348 Жыл бұрын
I see you recommend downgrading to one of the no annual ink cards in year 2. Now, should I call them to do so before the end of my year one to ensure I'm not repaying my annual fee?
@headlibrarian199610 ай бұрын
If you’re going to churn Ink Preferred cards what does Chase think of cancelling and reapplying? I really only have use for at most one of any of the Ink cards, especially the Preferred with its annual fee, so I’m thinking of churning it on an annual basis. Indeed, doing that to all 3 switching every 4 months which card is being churned, while not churning any one card more often than once per year.

$8K is still lots of spend! Reward categories are just mediocre! Also, unlike the InkCash or Unlimited, no 0% offer for the first year. Better off to get the Cash and Unlimited, and receive 140K in Chase UR points, plus 25% or 35K more in points when using CSP!

What kind of Credit Limits are people getting with this welcome offer? I have an $8000 purchase to meet the welcome offer but it would be useless if they give me a credit limit lower than that.
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
I’m not exactly sure. Maybe someone will leave some data points! It heavily depends on your income and previous credit history, but since this is a Visa signature card, you should get at least a $5k limit.

I've seen it mentioned on card blogs that you won't get less than 5-7k on the Preferred card.

I just got this card myself for my LLC a few days ago, thanks to the new SUB terms. I was surprised that the Ink Cash has 5x on internet/cable/phone on a free card while the Ink Preferred only has 3x with $95 fee, though the cell phone insurance is nice. If those terms would switch, this would be a lot more valuable.
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
Congrats on the new card! It's definitely a weird thing to step down the rewards on a higher annual fee card, but I see why they do it. The insurance is more important to me than the extra 2x back though so if I had both cards, I'd do my phone bills on the CIP and internet and cable on the CIC.

To some people, I think the Ink Preferred is worth it. I even considered it at one point, but I think I will be getting the CSP instead, once I fall back under 5/24. Eventually, I would like to get the Ink Unlimited and/or the Ink Cash. The Ink Cash is especially appealing because of the 5% back on internet, which I can only get on the U.S. Bank Cash+. (Then, maybe I would be able to pick a different 5% category on the Cash+.) Honestly, I don’t think I would be able to hit the high spend requirement on the Ink Preferred, even at $8,000 in 3 months, for the SUB. However, for a lot of business owners, the Ink Preferred could definitely provide a nice completion of a Chase business card trifecta, with the Ink Cash and the Ink Unlimited. 😊
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
Agreed! I don't think I could justify the spend on the CIP right now either, but I'm sure folks with a high spend could do so easily! I'm excited to hear what Ink cards you end up adding though.
