Breaking in the diff will be beneficial. When I used to race, (B3), I never did that process, I just set the diff as per the manual. I did keep track of the way the diff felt, I would do a rebuild as soon as I started getting any barking. If it was smooth then I was happy, but I know more now than I knew back then. I'm looking forward to racing again. The cars have developed alot since the RC10 B3. The B44 had just been released about the time I was about to stop, but I wanted a B44. I raced stock 27 turn and mod here and there. I also did some inroad racing with a TC4. I plan on getting a 4 wheel for 17.5 class. But the 6.2 also looks really good. It would be even more fun If I had one of each, then I could race spec and mod. Good luck racing!

Hey Spencer, it was good meeting you and your dad at the Reedy race at OCRC, I said hi to you at your pit space and then I talked to your dad afterwards for a little while. I was a top oval racer for ten years in the 80's and 90's, but this off-road driving is fun now that I'm getting the hang of it and getting rid of the dust and cob webs out from not driving for so long. I've been breaking my diff in with hand drill lately, just wondered if you ever tried it that way or not and if you think there's any significant advantage to doing it that way or doing it in the car. I'm not experienced enough to tell the difference except I don't tighten the diff all the way until I get in the car and spin the wheel while holding the spur gear (I think I read somewhere that was one of your techniques for checking diff tightness).

Tell me about the haircut thing🙄 Anyways Spencer, I just got done building the rc8t3.1e. I have the rc8b3e so I'm pretty familiar with the platform. However I'm getting a clanging sound from the front center outdrive. Is it because the dogbone pins are new, or is the diff binding? Cause she feels free & smooth, gonna break down the diffs again today anyways to see how's she wearing in. Thanks for your insight snd videos. It's a good time to do all that wrenching we've been putting off😂👍

Just got my 1st buggy and I'd never seen a slipper or a ball diff. The b6.2 manual has very limited information on it too and also doesn't mention how crucial it is to set up 1st without doing damage. I got it set up correctly from that info but I barked it a lot more than once getting it there....

Thanx for your helpful videos. Great stuff. I have an 6.1d and have troubles with my slipper clutch. My front wheels don’t come off an inch and it slips all the time. But the slipper pads and the clutch are new. Could it be the ball diff? Any advice? Thank you in advance

I don't think you need to worry about any diff lube coming out during break In by turning up the rpm too too high. As soon as you do a 25 foot triple and have to keep it pegged in air its all going to sling out anyways the first lap
@spencerrivkinracing4 жыл бұрын
It’s not that I’m worried about it coming out. I’m making sure the grease isn’t over heated on the initial breaking. When greases gets hot they water down and break up. If you can control that for the break in you’ll have a good well greased diff for racing :) Thanks

I got a question i bought the reflex 14B as a RTR i ran it on the road a few times at my house the front tires started getting slick so i stopped an took it to a dirt track at my local hobby shop 2 times an the mane diff were the spar gear is like melted were the baring sets on the chasse do you thank that could be my doing or a bad assembly caused it it started sounding like the motor was loose an was grinding my spar gear up to i took it apart an the spar gears fine!
