I received mine a couple of days ago, then the next day received another one (I've emailed Ignatius Press to find out how to return the 2nd one.) Hi! I am on day 216 in "Bible in a Year" with Fr. Mike. It is absolutely AWESOME to be reading together with Fr. Mike and then get the cool INSIGHTS that he provides, that I wouldn't have necessarily known about or have understanding of their Scriptural meanings. BEST MONEY I EVER PAID FOR. I have the note taking booklet which is really helpful when taking notes and studying. PRAISE BE TO GOD AND HAIL MARY QUEEN OF THE MOST HOLY ROSARY!!!

It doesn’t have space for note taking, but you can still highlight and write notes in a journal, which is what I do. 😊. I just received mine because I ordered early and I absolutely love it. I’m already shopping for a case for it.

I treated myself to the Illustrated Catholic Bible, complete with 500+ venetian woodcut prints. It's beautiful, no red text but has ribbons! I leave it out for my son to look at...he said recently that he'd recommend anyone read The Bible so he's familiarised himself somehow.

Amen Fr, it's holding sacred scripture definitely should be held in gold gilding. I've heard it's under $130 usd. For a premium Bible that's excellent!! Usually premium bibles are over $200 on up. I look forward to budgeting for it this next year. The Bible reading plan is excellent there should be a little pamphlet with description. Thank you for sharing. God bless you!

I hesitated on the Premium real leather Great Adventure Bible now have to wait on back order but my Ignatius Study Bible is on its way and I'm enjoying my vegan leather Great Adventure Bible as well as all my other Bibles, Ascension Press Catechism, Hebrew Greek English Bible and old ones from the 40's I've fond at thrift stores and yard sales. Some collect stamps I'm collecting Bibles 😁🙏🏼

The thing I like the most about this particular Bible, is that it can rival Protestant Bibles. They seem to have premium ones coming in more often. Some ranging from £300+ I have this one on my wishlist. I hope someday I'll afford it. That along with NRSVCE Illustrated Catholic Bible in cowhide leather, and ESV-CE by Cambridge in cowhide leather.

Thanks for the video Fr Columbu. I also have purchased my bibles with the same thoughts and respect that you have mentioned. I love them all. I just can’t bring myself to write in them. So I read them and take very good care of them. Hopefully someday when the time is right I can pass them on to someone who will love God and our Lord Jesus and take care of these Bibles like I do.

For its crossreferences, does it reference the deuterocanon in the NT? For instance, in Mt. 6.14-15 or in Rom 1.21ff. does it go to Wisdom? A harder one would be does the Triumphal entry or Mt. 17.24ff make the reference? I'm usually wanting a Byzantine text (Orthodox) and think it matters, but the RSV is an official Orthodox Bible, and I would *love* to have working cross references to the whole Bible.

Be careful with transparent sticky notes! I got some and the glue was wayyyy too sticky for my bible. I tried to remove one I didn’t want in my bible anymore and it took the ink right off the page and even ripped some of the paper off the page. I had to pull it off so slowly (litterally took me like 3 minutes to fully remove it) in order to not rip more off my bible paper. I will NEVER use clear sticky notes on bible paper ever again.

It's currently retailing at $124.99 (USD) That doesn't include the shipping so probably closer to $135 or $140 to the UK or Ireland. I think that would make a good "home Bible", but I'd be really hesitant to carry that one around in my handbag. For toting about, I'd prefer something a little less fancy, less expensive. For home though, I think that'd be great! I appreciate the concept of the Bible's with space for taking notes, but I just can't bring myself to write in a book, ANY book, but especially the Bible. I prefer to take notes in a separate notebook. Obviously, I have no judgement towards people that DO write in their Bible, whatever works for them :)

Very well said Father. I absolutely love my copy (which I received three days ago.) I intend to use this for daily reading at home. I am taking a course in the old testament so I also have a note taking Bible but it is in fake leather so I know it will have to be rebound later if it is to last. I also own the Cornerstone Bible from Cambridge which is the ESV-CE text block in genuine calfskin leather (although not edge sewn like the Great Adventure Bible) and is virtually the same price (approx. $120). I actually believe the Great Adventure Bible has better ribbons (3 double sided vs the 2 single sided ribbons on the Cornerstone.) Also, the Great Adventure Bible has a calfskin inner liner where the Cornerstone has a man-made inner liner, albeit a good quality one. The Cornerstone is thinner and lighter due to its use of lighter paper and therefore a better choice if you are buying it to carry around. In the end I believe the Great Adventure Bible is a very good value. If your budget only allows for only one premium Catholic Bible and you don't have a solitary commitment to the ESV-CE, I think the Great Adventure is the way to go. I truly enjoy the RSV-2CE which I prefer to the NRSVCE translation. I'm excluding the Word on Fire Bible due to its multi volume format and, currently, incomplete printing and is in the NRSVCE.

Oh great! Happy to have found you! I'm hesitating on which to buy, the premium or the notetaking... Is the content + font size identical? Also, my big concern is whether the notetaking bible will sustain heavy usage, due to its binding. The cover isn't bad, but the previous edition that I own isn't completely sewn. Is the updated edition truly, completely smith-sewn, or in part glued? Thanks so much for your answer, I would really appreciate it!

@@adeodata6364 I'm sorry if my answer mislead you. My note taking Bible is the AVE Catholic note taking Bible from Ave Maria Press. It is the same translation as the Great Adventure Bible. The Great Adventure note taking Bible wasn't an option at the time of the start of my class so I went with the Ave Maria edition. It met my basic desires (sewn binding - not sure if it is fully Smyth sewn or not, single column, ample note space, line matching print.) In the end it appears to be comparable construction quality to the original Great Adventure. Good luck with your search and decision making.

It does not. None of the _Revised Standard Version_ translations do. Instead, a footnote acknowledges the presence of that verse in some manuscripts. I would prefer that the verse be included in brackets as is the practice with the NASB. My copy of the Knox translation was handy, and interestingly, Knox included that verse in his translation. In this he may well be following the tradition of the _Vulgate._ I expect you are familiar with those bibles, which include the verse, such as the _Douai-Rheims,_ _King James Version,_ _New King James,_ etc.
