I agree on parking Caroline. Parents need extra space, not proximity to the entrance. It used to annoy me that parents with older children used them because they were with their children and it was handy (a mum with 3 teenagers doesn't need a parent and child parking space!) and I'd be trying to get a car seat out in a normal parking space. Moving the spaces would also solve that problem😀

Hi lovely Caroline , very much enjoyed this vlog , you sum up how a lot of us feel regarding parking , and the treatment of our older people , its all about the young these days....it's like they just don't matter , when lets face it without them this blooming country would have ground to a halt....more respect should be given....., your bread looked yum...and so much better for you than shop bought....Hope you feel better soon , life is sometimes hard , but onwards and upwards....have a lovely week , look after you xxx💖💖💖

Caroline Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Parent child parking really hacks me off At most supermarkets now all the bays by the store are taken up with them. My husband is 81 and his legs are giving up the ghost now. We are having to park further and further away from the stores. Children can sit in trolleys so why the need to be so close Children who are a bit older could walk into the store surely.

Totally agree about the parking for the elderly, its simply a mark of respect that doesn't exist 😢. I think personally that it all boils down to money. Young families probably spend 3 or 4 times more than the rest of us and they want to keep them happy, therefore the special treatment. Its sad really cause we are teaching the youngsters that they are more important. Thats the reason a lot of them feel entitled. Its our fault. Love the rings Caroline. I have done the same but mostly cause i gained weight and it's very expensive to have my 3 made larger. I will try to loose the weight first. But the fake one are beautiful ❤

Morning Caroline, I couldn't agree more with you on the parent and toddler spaces. I don't feel they need to be so close to the shops. Also people do take advantage of them. I think they are more for pushchairs , so you have the room to get child in and out safely. However when you see people with their children clearly to old for pushchairs. Makes you wonder. Loving the green top from yours. Colour suits you. X

I am rather new here my second visit really and I must comment on the fact that you are saying you are old. Oh my gosh there is nothing old about you, your skin is lovely and your hands are not old hands. I can show you old hands! I live in Alaska and one must be rather tough here as there is no such animal as an elderly or parent and child parking spot. There is handicapped however. I have been hauling my groceries and feed sacks out the store by myself and believe me when I say no man will help. It was a relief when I found another store that did haul the 50 lb sacks out for me usually by young girls haha. Your green outfit was lovely on you and I like those shoes. 💕

I can see your point but I think there's parent and children spaces because they need more room to get toddlers and babies out of the car. It can be a struggle getting a baby out of a car seat and into a pram without scratching the car next to you if you were too close. I have a blue badge but often can't get a disabled space. It's annoying but I'm pleased that at least I can still get out to a supermarket. It would be good though if they could cater for everyone 😊
@mbd6054 Жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone has an issue with allocating parent and child spaces in a car park, but they can be located further away from the entrances, and spaces allocated to the elderly closer to the entrances instead.

Here's a couple of cheeky ways to subvert the "baby & child" parking spots: adult child and elderly parent park in spaces because they are a parent & child couple. Or older person parks in spot and if called out, says well I'm a parent and have a child. The sign doesn't say I need the child with me! Able bodied people of any age need to be the ones parking farther away to save the close in spots for those who can't walk as far or need assistance. And every doctor, PT person, nutritionist says we need to find more ways to get our steps in!

Hi Gail - I'm very new to it, I've only had it about a month. Enjoying it so far, I love the simplicity of not having to weigh everything separately and had a lot of success with bread and pizza dough recipes, also the best cake I've ever made (I am not one of life's bakers!). I do feel a bit tied to the recipes in the app (which are hit and miss - some great, some not so much), I need to get more confidence with using it 'freestyle' for my own recipes, I think. I'm not 100% convinced I'll use it enough to warrant the cost, but I checked resale prices before buying it and if I find I'm not using it enough after a year or so, I'll probably sell it on.

I totally agree about the parking in Tesco right by the doors while disabled parking is further away I was confronted by a woman in the car park because I parked in one of these spaces all the disabled spaces where full and I had my blue badge she had a child sat in the trolly so the child wasn't even walking so why does she need a space right by the door when people with difficulties have to park halfway across the car park so annoying 🤬 We didn't move out of the space I gave her a few chosen words !!! 🤬

Caroline I 101% agree with you regarding the said Tesco … I was passing by with my father inlaw very recently- after a trip to the nearby hospital. He needed a few bits so I thought we’d nip in & I also would treat him to a “capita, Montei”!! my father-in-law’s interpretation of a “cappuccino” 😳😂. And because of the hideous parking, we ended up driving in driving around and driving out again.. yes we could’ve parked on the very very far end …but as he’s 90 and doesn’t have a blue badge… (good for him)👍… long walk up was a no-go.. damn you Tesco’s😡.. grumpy rant over 😊

This has always been my rant about parents and children parking !! In my view, it’s all about the size of the flipping huge cars that they are driving.They say it’s because they can’t open the doors enough to get the children out!!! Boo hoo!!!!! I didn’t have the luxury of a car when I had my children. It was struggle with two toddlers, a buggy and the the same on the way back, plus shopping. Obviously it doesn’t enter there heads about elderly not being able to walk. I blame the supermarkets for giving in to the poor struggling parents with tanks for cars!!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬
@jacquiliddell7680 Жыл бұрын
It seems to me children n their parents don’t want to walk anywhere, they are taken and picked up from school in the car. Most of my age group walked a mile or more to school You are right not everyone can qualify for a blue badge. I have leukaemia and get out of breath very quickly although not over weight, but my drug that’s probably saving my life does that to me.

Enjoyed the podcast and sorry it has stopped, however appreciate that finding fresh subject matter was prob an issue as well. I do enjoy a ranty video - and just to say in my experience disabled spaces are often used by those 'in a hurry' who, one may say have hidden disabilities but they also have "hidden blue badges" - but in supermarket car parks who is monitoring the use of any of the restricted bays to prevent this?

I definitely agree with you regarding the parking spaces. However, it's sad to say, but like how the disabled spaces get abused, the elderly spaces would also probably be abused by the those perfectly physically able motorists that cannot be bothered to walk any distance at all to get into the store. Most 'normal' parking spaces are also far too narrow for me to get out of the car easily these days as my mobility isn't as great as it was. Yes, there definitely ought to be wider elderly parking spaces nearer the store, and parent & child spaces put at the far end of the car park. I've even seen some parent & child spaces that are nearer to the store than the actual disabled spaces!

Hi Caroline , I think your so right . Most younger couples with kids can walk a bit further , so long as they keep their kids in check . I’m a disabled person (with badge) so I’m lucky most of the time . But I’ve been in that position ( before badge) where I’ve had to walk a long way with shopping in pain and walk past loads of empty parent and child spaces. Obviously these spaces are great , but maybe not so many , or maybe on pension days make those spaces available for both parties ❤

Don't begrudge the mum's and children extra wide parking but something for us too would have be nice. So glad I managed to get my 90 year old mother a disabled badge although there are so many none blue badge holders parked in the disabled parking spaces sometimes I can’t get parked. To add to your rant - disabled people in wheelchairs and all their fellow travellers at airport check in. They are in a wheelchair and therefore “sitting down” why do they need to jump the queue- if on crutches I could maybe understand - but there is no pressure on their legs! Seems to be more and more of them every time we travel.
