It’s frustrating that as women we have to be careful not to piss creeps off but at the same time we’re not supposed to look scared or intimidated. I got stalked so much in college that I stopped doing errands by myself and always had a guy friend. I also became a massive liar to the uber creeps that felt entitled to ask intrusive questions.🙄

A few phrases I like to use when I’m approached my a man is “please leave me alone”, “I don’t want to talk”, “I’m not interested”. If that doesn’t work they tend to respect your wishes more if you say “I have a boyfriend” or “I’m in a happy and loving relationship”. It’s extremely unfortunate that women still can’t be left alone after they show clear signs of not being interested.

Your Highschool story really moved me and I’m so happy for you that you finally realized what really matters after having to deal with this kind of people! My last two years of Highschool were similar because one of my old best friends started to cut me out my group of friends and spent two years talking bad behind my back if I started hanging out with other people and she made hurtful jokes about me in front of everyone. hey hun i listened to your story about what happened to you in high school, and as a sophomore in college right now i can relate super hard to your struggles with moving on and having those comments still affect you to this day. PLEASE know that what happened to you WAS bullying and possibly sexual harassment. i went through something kind of similar for two years, where i was dehumanized and degraded in one of my classes. this class happened to be all boys except for me, and the three boys that were sexually harassing me got away with EVERYTHING. part of the reason why they did was because no one in that class stood up for me and said anything. so when you said you don’t know if it’s your friends responsibility to stand up for you, YES YES YES it is. those people weren’t real friends, and I’m super glad you’re in a better place now. i know you might not see this, but i hope you do and feel validated and know that you didn’t deserve ANY OF THAT. us women shouldn’t ever have to put up with insecure men projecting their self hatred onto us. What you went through was horrible and traumatic, and you are valid in still needing time to recover even all these years later. I wish you all best❤❤

Steph your courage and vulnerability is truly touching my soul🥹 I had experienced a lifelong friendship, we were both like security blankets in a way. We were like peanut butter and jelly. But she did something that destroyed my family, and I was waiting for an apology or acknowledgment from her actions. I dwelled on the situation for almost two years. I totally can relate about the always being nostalgic about the past even when you know that you were actually miserable during that time. I think it’s something called the “golden age syndrome”. We tend to glamorize the past when we are unhappy with our present. Which i find interesting because, as someone with anxiety, I’m always thinking about the future, always wondering what it’s gonna be like, while at the same time feeling nostalgic for the past.
