7:40 -The rabbit may be a representation of the Okazaki Shrine, which is one of Kyoto's oldest shrines. The shrine is full of statues of the rabbit, and rabbits are a universal symbol of fertility. Many people visit Okazaki Shrine to pray to have a child and for a safe birth. **The bunny on the moon could also represent the Moon Rabbit, a mythical animal in ancient Chinese mythology. Plus, the coming year, 2023, is the year of the Rabbit.

What a great idea to put sharp stones on the bedroom floor so that people can appreciate more the convenience of going to the bathroom at night without slashing their feet and another great idea to make the floor of the second floor transparent so that people can experience the horror and thrill of falling down without actually falling down. spring time is better as the mountains and rivers are covered in cherry blossoms. The downside is that there is way too many tourists flooding the area especially during that time of the year and you must book your hotels 3-4 months in advance to get anything decent. However this next spring would probably great considering japan will just now be opening its borders without crazy conditions and thus the influx of tourists might be less.
@mudstuff
@mudstuff 2 жыл бұрын
@@jbtravelssolo7596 I'd argue the opposite and that a lot of people have been wanting to visit for a very long time so it will be super busy. Hard to be sure though, time will tell! The hare moon is a Pagan symbol which originated in Medieval England. Whereas many cultures nowadays refer to the "man on the moon", a few centuries ago the image of a hare was in fact more commonplace - hence the name "hare moon". well, to answer the questions of rabbits on the moon, it's an old folk tale of the Old man of the moon, who came down to Earth to test the kindness of 3 animals, a Monkey, a Fox and a Rabbit. Dressed as a beggar, Old Masn approached the animal friends by their campfire and asked them if they could spare him some food. Monkey offered him fruit, Fox offered him a fish, but Rabbit had nothing to offer so he offered himself and tried to jump into the fire so the beggar could eat him. Before the Rabbit made it into the fire, Old Man transformed into himself again and decided that the Rabbit, as the kind soul, will live with him on the moon. even tho the story is old, very old, to this day Japanese continue to celebrate the rabbits on the moon.

Central Japan IS hot in the summer, but in the early '00s I made two trips to Japan in August, both with a number of days in Kyoto- & as a NYer it wasn't terrible, actually really ok- often humid & in the high 80s. It really depends upon how you feel about hot summers - but a benefit of summer travel in Japan is fewer crowds of tourists than in spring and autumn. Also took an April trip to Kyoto back then, and for me, the summer was more magical there.

Always love the advice of not coming to Japan in the summer, but as a teacher, summer and winter are the only times I can come lol and I did go to Kyoto...in August...it was horribly hot, but still worth it haha. We didn't eat along that river, but we did go for a walk there and found a bar nearby to chill at. When we can more freely travel again maybe I'll be able to do a short weekend as it's only a 2-ish hour flight away...it would be nice to go in Spring or Fall one day. Also watching these videos makes me want more and more to go back to Japan and see some new places!

Pontocho is one of my favorite places but I’ve always been there in the evening so it’s been relatively more comfortable. Really nice being outside and next to the river. Have to agree though going to Japan in the summer is not a pleasant experience. Not sure why more people don’t know this or how they possibly had the summer Olympics there.
