Agreed. That is something I grew up on since I was a child in elementary school. Wherever we were even out of school long as you passed by somewhere and they were either hoisted our flag in schools or the police band was playing the national anthem, we just stood until it was over. Everyone stood still. It is just how we were brought up. And I am glad this tradition and culture still goes on these many decades later. Proud of my motherland.

It takes an outsider to remind us how special this country is. Most of us don't appreciate what we have until we travel outside. Kenyans who are well-traveled always work towards building retirement and holiday homes here, possibly because they know what most of us don't know - Kenya is special!

Compared to Germans, Italians and British people, very few Americans do travel to Kenya for tourism. Most Americans in Kenya are either embassy employees, multinational companies employees or business people. He can make a lot of money with the tourism angle.

I wish I could convince some of my siblings to indulge in these luxuries. They're workaholics who have achieved great success but won't rest. Our father died at age 60 as a workaholic, I don't want the same fate for us. I'm in America and though I'm not ultra wealthy, I take time to relax.

Kenyan here. It's a cool event alright. It might have a few of the 1%(there aren't strongly marked lines between them and other people here except for clubs and whatnot), but its not a "The 1%" event. Based on the affordable entrance fee, anyone with an interest in the event could come..
