My father had a rv for over 53 years, after mom died I moved in to become his full time caretaker and we still traveled. At 89 years old he was still driving his 43’ Class A and realized it was getting to hard to get in so he downsized to a Class C and I became the driver. I love to drive so I was excited about our travels. But over the course of 7 years I came to hate the rv life. One reason was the overcrowded campgrounds with sites on top of each other and dad didn’t like to dry camp even though we could. Another reason is he’s seen all of America (except Hawaii) Canada and Mexico and still at 95 he has a photographic memory and remembers every campground he’s visited which is amazing plus every time I would ask can we stop I got “nope, I’ve been there”. Now I watch your videos and think and dream about my future and down the road I hope to buy a small rv and visit all those “nope, I’ve been there” places. I love Pendleton and with dad I’ve driven 7 times within 50 miles of that store and that will be one of my future stops when I travel to all those beautiful National Parks, State Parks and Harvest Host you have showcased and I’ve only been able to wave at while driving dads rv. Thank You for bringing back my desire and dreams to travel down the roads of my future.

A bit of advice from a 35 year veteran trucker… when parking between trucks, don’t back all the way back, stop even with the front of the trucks otherwise trucks coming in later think that spot is open and it pisses them off to find you in it.

Yes we’re in the trucking business and spots for safe truck parking is incredibly limited in a lot of areas so when we see anything that’s not a truck taking a spot it’s definitely annoying. I do love your videos and how you still show adventure at different stages of life, I noticed how couples naturally fall into roles and how helpful that it is. We also fell into roles while team truck driving and it alleviated lots of miscommunication 😊

I agree with you! We have seen people do that with both gray and black tanks without a hose. You were kinder than I was. You were actually wiser too. I should have just drove off but I thought it may have been someone who just didn’t know better! So I approached them and offered them my sewer hose and to show them the easy way to empty their tanks! However they informed me that they were expert, full time RVers and I needed to mind my $&@&$ business. My wife talked me down and we just drove on! I’m so grateful for my dear wife!

We upgraded with a cinderella travel propane toilet in our RV. Love it! Yeah, we still have to dump gray water but not having to deal with 1’s and 2’s sure made things easier. I wish Incinolet had a propane toilet since they are easier to maintain. We have a 120v incinolet in our cabin. Another lifesaver since we didn’t have a 30k septic install.

3 rides with dog bites, one with a wasp sting, broken chain, tire blowout, hail, 50mph winds, - surely they’re not all great rides in my book. Oh, and the launch over the front handle bars breaking my front tooth and tearing my Rotator Cuff on the day of my daughter’s HS Graduation and Graduation Party. Yea, without any doubt, every ride is not a great ride.

Next time you are near Ely, Nevada, check out Ward Mountain Campground. It is up the grade from Ely and much cooler. Best of all, no semi trucks. It is dry camping for $12 per night with large sites in the lower loop. Safe travels!

I recently road tripped San Diego California to Calgary Alberta. 1600 miles 26 hours of driving including gas and grocery stops. We did the who.e trip in 34 hours. It was epic. 16 hours of driving the first day and 10 hours the second day.

you forgot Rest Stops/areas! We needed to go from Abbotsford BC to Boise in 3 nights & hit 3 rest stops, Indian Joe Hill RA, Arrowhead Travel Plaza (separate areas for semis & no time limit) and finished at Snake River View RA. Our favourite one was Arrowhead. We planned it right and were able to position our fifth wheel so we could put out our kitchen slide. We're making our way south and after two weeks at a RV park in Boise, we're planning on hitting a couple as we move south.

Common experiences - I agree with your list/order, although I would slip Cabelas in above Walmart. I had to duck into one during the horrible thunderstorms across Nebraska back in early July. I was on a solo trip and waited too long to look for a place to stop (because my logic was "no one goes to Nebraska"), and every option was sold out or closed. Cabelas wasn't bad, a little off the beaten path (in a good way), a tree-lined parking lot for some privacy. Pretty quiet, and better than driving into a thunderstorm with 50 mph head/crosswinds. The advantage of a class-A for parking-lot-docking (or C+), is if something gets sketchy, we can close the slides, retract the jacks, and "move" without having to go outside. I would also put Army Corp of Engineers campgrounds rather high on your list - those are usually high quality parks 50 amp and water with large spaces, albeit off-the-beaten path locations. I have a disabled vet National Parks Access pass and ACE gives a 50% discount - so around $5-$9 a night, or $10-$20'ish for the public. Love's - I tried one of their overpriced "RV Parks" in Box Elder last May while on a business trip in Rapid City. I had a one-night gap before the week long reservation that I had became available. I would put the Love's RV parks below the truck stop experience. Here's the problem (for us) - if I am traveling solo (which I often use for business trips), my front bumper is tapping the Love's RV entrance security gate while my front axle tires are not yet on the weight sensor in the driveway. The keypad was also about 3 feet below the sliding window, so I had to go out and tap in the code - and there was NO WAY to get back into the RV (on the passenger-side), release the air brakes, and get it moving before the gate would come down again, it gives you like 10'ish seconds to do so. I also couldn't back up away from it because I had my pickup flat-towed on the back (and I was sitting at a sharp turn-in angle off the road, so I would never be able to get the pickup off the tow-bar either). So I had to get creative - I tapped the 4 digit code in with my fingers, then ran back around the bus and from the driver seat window, hit the 'enter' button with a broomstick to get the gate to go up so I could start moving through it before it would slam shut again. We also did Oregon/Washington/Vancouver BC for a month-long September trip, purely coincidental - we had planned the northwest earlier this year, we live near Tahoe and we weren't excited about another long drive eastward and we never RV in California, roads are horrible, fuel is stupidly-expensive, and 90+% of the RV parks are dumpy. The NW was a short jaunt, so we went straight north on I-5. I hadn't spent any time in the Northwest before "with wheels," just business flights in/out. We were underwhelmed and it's not on the future travel list. We started the leisure time in Vancouver, BC first, then worked our way back along the coast. The daily (brutal) traffic in the whole region kind of dampened the enthusiasm to do much from day to day. Vancouver BC downtown traffic jams were horrid. Your Pendleton stop - I laughed, my wife makes me stop at those whenever we see one, we were just at one a couple of weeks ago in some small town south of Astoria. I also found a shirt off the sale-on-sale rack and joined their text list for another 10% off (because I wouldn't actually spend $250 on a piece of dry-clean-only flannel otherwise - but $40 sounded reasonable), too funny. Nevada - it's slim pickings overall, but if you are using Hwy 95 north/south, our favorite spot is always Walker Lake - use Sportman's Beach for a hard surface campsite or Tamarack if you want to be closer to the water and don't mind the sand and gravel (not an option anymore with our pusher - but we used to love Tamarack with the TT we used to have). In a pinch, the Tonopah "airport" (general aviation) parking lot also works about an hour south of Hawthorne/Walker Lake, and there is some dispersed camping near Tonopah as well. Hwy 375 (Extra Terrestrial Highway) was fun - we did that at night once for the giggles, it routes within about 10 miles of Area 51. We had planned to stop at the Little Ale'Inn near Rachel, but kept going after looking at it for 2 seconds. Hwy 93 options are a dumpy casino parking lot in Jackpot, a couple of similarly-bad options in Wells, ditto in Ely, or obviously decent stuff in Vegas (all are about 3 hours apart). Never consider the Thousand Trails in Vegas, it's awful. Over 50 years of surface and subsurface nuclear weapons testing and about 3/4 of the state closed to any civilian traffic has that desolation effect. Safety Tip- they close the state parks in Nevada kind of early in the fall - and many of them don't actually put a 'closed' sign at the road entrance - the first one you see will be the chain across the road at the registration building - and it might be a ½ mile of "backing up" to return to the road without anywhere to spin the RV around. (Been there, done that). If you can get turned around though, no one will care if you boondock on the deserted entrance driveway. Our next trips - Tucson in January to get the motorhome's full-wall slide retrofitted by VROOM, followed by a stop at the Quartzsite rally. Then early spring will be Idaho, Montana, Glaciier and possibly Calgary, before the family travelers hit the road. We travel with my CCW for safety, so taking the motorhome across the border means leaving that behind (for what is usually about a month with at least 50% boondocking), so Calgary is on the 'maybe' list.

One extra plug for Cabela's parking lot camping, if you use their website's "store locator" - it lists RV Overnight Camping as a 'feature' of stores if permitted by local ordinances, etc., and many of them even have water & electric hookups. Great place to do some minor restocking too.

Have you considered using Maverik Adventure fuel stations. They are plentiful out west and have become our go to station since they have dedicated truck and RV lanes with diesel and gas pumps along with the hi flow diesel and DEF pumps in the same lane. Makes life easier. Also, most have a dump station at no charge. They are very user friendly. Most do not have overnight parking but I have seen dog parks.

Please. Always always always watch your truck when a semi is backing up beside you. I’m also a truck driver, and there are some.. not so bright drivers out here. And a tip. Find a spot either between other trucks or a spot right next to the “easiest” spot to back into. So far I’ve lucked out. Love the content btw! When we got our first trailer, we carefully studied everything we could find about the do’s and dont’s of the dump station. When the time came for our first dump, we lined up behind someone who was doing all the dont’s and none of the do’s. It was eye-opening (and a little frightening), but, as we’ve come to learn, not entirely uncommon. Oh, and regarding getting a workout on the road, one word: TRX.

Always enjoy the ‘between’ episodes! I’m a Trucker, and I am fortunate enough not to need to stay at truck stops too often. I am able to ‘turn’ my trips, return ing to my shipper daily, and bobtail home for my break. I’m surprised you opted to stay on the truck side of the Love’s. I generally see rv’s over in the car side , even with trailers here on the east coast. Definitely different out west vs the I-81 1-78, I-64 territory I’m in most of the time.

As soon as you mentioned the Love's in Ellensburg, I thought of the waste treatment facility plant to the south. I live about 15 miles from Ravensdale and I regularly make the trip out Hwy 18 to I-90/I-82 to go to Goldendale, WA. I usually stop at both the MP90 rest stop (on the way out, but not to use the dump station) and the waste treatment plant (on the way back.) What you missed was the Yakima Canyon drive (Hwy 821) which bypasses the I-90/I-82 interchange. It adds about 15 minutes onto the trip but is much prettier and flatter.

I hear you about being tired of companies making crap products. All new appliances in my house in 2012. In 12 years, I've had to repair the furnace and refrigerator and now I had to replace my washer and dryer. Over $800 apiece (Electrolux) and the washer smells like hot rubber when washing clothes and the dryer has a clunking noise so need to be repaired! It's robbery of our hard earned money. I have a fridge/freezer in my garage that's from the 70's and still works fine.

Those spots are for trucks for when drivers have to sleep, not for rvs. Tractor trailers don't stay in campgrounds or rv resorts. Me and my wife take trips in our rv and we always stay in campgrounds even for a quick overnight, if we are tired and there is no campground we will stay in a hotel (not camp in a hotel parking lot but actually get a room) you can afford a long airstream and nice diesel pickup but you can't afford a campsite or a hotel. Leave the truck overnight parking for trucks.

I couldn't agree more about Las Vegas. My company has a convention there every three years (it's the only city that can host enough people at one time), and I have to admit that I HATE it. You're absolutely right...24-48 hours is plenty. My wife and I have learned exactly what you said. You have to have a plan. If you just wander around, you'll despise humanity within about 23 minutes. Las Vegas is the armpit of civilization, but it you look hard enough, it has its redeeming factors. We always plan to see a good show, plan one night out to a nice dinner spot, do what we need to do for the convention, hang out at the pool, and then get out of there as fast as we can! 😀

The wife and I have done several trips to Las Vegas, our favorite time is mid-January when it's cold and rainy/dreary at home and we go there and it's sunny and clear. We had one fairly nasty trip there (I got food poisoning - don't ever go through that in a casino hotel!) and on our way back, we decided that we'd never go back. Fast forward a couple of weeks - one of my employees had been selling raffle tickets for his daughter's private high school, and I won... a trip to Vegas. So, we went back.

You can try resetting the troubled fan by taking the fuse out of the ceiling housing about 10 min then replacing. The other thing is clean off the tag sensor- green mini CPU board looking thing. . Not a Fantastic Vent guru but may help.

I bought that grill and sent it back because the griddle is aluminum. I loved the size and weight. I just know I would ruin it easily. I got the one with the steal griddle and it is 50lbs.

I just ran into same thing I took m😢 daughters van , while she was away, to get brakes checked and they came up with over $3300 for brakes including an astronomical amount for a break flush. Which by the way, they basically had to do just to bleed the brakes after changing everything, even said all the hoses need replaced. I said thankyou and paid for their inspection, also which I would have had to pay even if they did the brake work! I took it to my OK tire place and got even an oil change for $1699 all in!! Apparently we didn’t need hoses or calipers, just a rebuild on them. So always try calling someone else for a quote before spending the money!! Safe travel on the way. ❤❤🎉🎉

I love my Nutri-bullet. I use it all the time! Doesn't take up much space, either. I know that feeling of getting back to Arizona. I grew up there, so it always feels like coming home.

Love watching your videos we do have a Ford F250 our travel trailer is 27 feet and it’s a Jacob feather. When we go somewhere in transit, I like using RV LIFE, Open Roads and staying overnight at loves on travel days if you do it again, which I highly recommend, do not park by the semi trucks, but go upfront upfront where the cars are they always have RV parking up there. And I’ve always been able to use the slide. We feel safer there than other places. But I like about loves her flying J the cops regularly drive-through. There’s always a lot of other people you save a lot and after all, it’s only for one night.

Great video of the " In Betweens " of the travel from here to there. I was so thinking you were in the NE corner of Nevada below Idaho. We drove in the Northern direction, coming from Great Basin NP. And YES there are good campgrounds at the base of the mountan with an amazing one, limited to 24' I believe, at the top of 10, 000 ft elevation below the peak.

Oh man. The Harvest Host you stayed at in Ravensdale is just around the corner from my house! My old training partner use to live in that neighborhood before she moved to Hawaii to buy a dive business. We did Ironman together and rode lots and lots of miles on these roads. Hope you have a great ride in my hood!!

Yes, how did the Florida Bungalow fare? My son’s house (in St. petersburg) is not in a flood zone they were fine that way. Had lots of downed tree branches. They did evacuate. My son flew his plane up to Pensacola for safe keeping.

I had the same problem with my Fantastic Fans rendering them useless 😢 Take the 6 screws out of the inside housing and pull down to access the circuit board where you will see a connector from the rain sensor with 2 black wires. Simply disconnect by pulling out the connector and problem will be fully fixed! Much cheaper than replacing the fans 😇

Watching this video is sure familiar the drive down to AZ. I live in Vancouver WA and have a second house near Parker AZ. I make that same drive through OR ID, down 93 to Las Vegas about 4-5 times a year. Except I always make the drive on 93 through NV at night, less traffic easier driving. About half my trips are non stop, 1200 mi in 25 hours, and I'm the only driver! But love that drive.

I agree about Vegas... my last time was a simple 4 hours at the airport, going for lunch and playing a couple games with my husband and a group of Chinese businessmen that were laughing and cheering at the silly way I played a Chinese game.
