When those happened, all the mothers in our neighborhood, including my mom, made sure all of us kids were in the house by nightfall. Even though we lived 80 miles south of the Bay Area. LOL. I also remember all of the dads, including mine, went around FULLY ARMED during those Hippie Dippie days, just in case. Yep, in those days, a man could do that in California, with no one's permission!

So that's all I remember from that time period. I do remember the Manson murders but only vaguely - probably from the nightly news that my Dad would watch like clockwork every night. Back then, for the young folks here, there was only broadcast TV - so 3 major channels and a couple of UHF channels. Mixup, I have a white album as well - actually my son has it right now along with my entire vinyl collection... mine is actually white though.. This was a fun take on camping at Barker. Your description of Charlie is spot on. I camp there when I'm in the area, either on the pad in front of the house or down in the livestock pen. No one was killed by the family at Barker, but three guys sleeping in the small bunkhouse might have been killed if they hadn't heard Charlie and Clem sneaking up on them in the middle of the night. One thing is sure; no family member alive wants to be anywhere near or have anything to do with Barker Ranch. Playing your old White Album was a fantastic idea. Thanks.

I wish I had had a camera and sound recorder back then, but then again those aren't brought along when you're roughing it. But the night I'm referring to had some bumps, words and sounds you just couldn't put an object or word to.
