I want to try it with doublehander one days ... I don't have trout-size DH, but I use skagit line with single hand rod, utilizing the same spey casts technique

Sure is fun Fishing a two hander , I am currently looking at a 4wt trout Spey set up . But I have to say my 7wt sage one 11’6” works just fine here in Montana on the Madison , Missouri , Bighorn and anywhere else I go . Primary use though is steelhead and silvers so going lighter may be more fun . Happy Trails

I lived in the mid-Atlantic for a long time but I wasn’t a fly fisherman at the time. I’d like to get back there and try my hand on the Upper D. What colors do you find work the best in colored water in your area? Copper and Purple seem to work nicely here in Colorado. I, like you, love fishing a two-handed rod. I’d rather swing it than drift it but I’ll do whatever it takes. That said, I rarely fish my single handers anymore.

Great casting I've just purchased a 7/8 switch rod for salmon, could you recommend any good shooting line and heads for this rod cheers.

Hi Martin. I like the Rio Powerflex Max for shooting line. This is a true fly line running line that floats and is easily handled. If you would prefer a mono running line, we like the Sci Angler Absolute Shooting Line. This is cheaper and for mono easier then most to handle and straightens out nice unlike other mono running lines. For heads there are a lot of choices. It would be best to know what model 7/8 switch rod you have? You can also call me at 973 979 7600 to discuss your rod model and also your exact needs to determine the best head for you.

Truly the most fun way to fish. I love swinging for trout and steelhead. It makes nymphing feel so boring

what length of singing polyleader? 5' or 10'? is the fly weighted?
@TightLinesinNJ9 жыл бұрын
+awaken77 It is a 5 ips 10' poly. The fly is a bunny streamer with a small/medium dumbell eye about 3.5" long.

Somewhere I missed the streamer techniques

Hes strips it while swinging to give it some action, he also steps down while stripping at times to take some tension of of the fly but give it some action while keeping it in the area longer. Though it was a good video on how to work a streamer with a two handed rod....

He talked about it as he was doing it. An angler on foot is hard pressed to find a better tool than a switch rod. You can animate the fly just as you would a single handed rod by banging the opposite bank, jerk/strip retrieves, slow deep swings, down stream mends to bring the fly across the top fast and broadside to give the predator a good profile look at the fly. You can do it all and have a lot of fun doing it without the need of room in your backcast. Hands down - my favorite way to fish a fly.

You could have just done single spey. Let the streamer swing all the way to completion without rotating your feed and do a single spey. It will cast exactly the same place. This way you could have saved time and increase the number of casts. This translates to more fish.
