For hard but possible levels, I think the biggest reason people dont use spider as much as wave is because unlike wave you cant really use mini spider differently or have unique ways to use orbs (think blue orbs in wave like the acu drop or dash orbs in wave like in commatose). Sure, it can use orbs, but in the same way that most other gamemodes can use orbs. So it ends up just being a case of narrowing the spikes around the teleport gap and thats the only thing spider does in every extreme demon. The most interesting thing you can do with spider on its own is double clicks like in glide. But double clicks are neither fun or consistent. It could also be a case of people not using the spider and so they don't have any ideas of how it could be used in a fun way, and so it isn't, and so people don't use it. A vicious cycle if you will.

That could be interesting. Spider orbs/pads are REALLY powerful, and swing hasn't been explored as much. The FPS is a really big hit, but maybe there's some trigger thing that works with the player set FPS value.

It is instant. During the frame you click, it starts on one side and ends on the other. It's just that the editor draws the trail based on frames, so the intra-frame teleport doesn't show as such because the trail doesn't update until the next frame.

Spiders literally don’t move in a straight line, they move forward the distance of one frame. You can literally see the line going forward one pixel in your image at 0:25, and on my ipad at 60 fps it’s incredibly obvious. Its like a quarter of a block on 1x speed.
