When creator Stan Lee first proposed Spider Man to his publisher, his boss replied that people hate Spiders and that no one would read about a teenage superhero as they were always the sidekick back in the day. So Stan snuck the first Spider Man story on the last issue of a canceled comic series. And all the plot points of him letting the thief get away and Peter living with the guilt of failing to save his uncle were in the first story. In fact it was so popular they immediately gave Spidey his own comic series. While Stan Lee’s recounts are sometimes questionable, he’s said that when the Spidey became a hit, his publisher came to him and said, “Hey Stan , remember that Spider Man character we both love?….”😂 Also the reason that MJ called Peter tiger is that when Peter first laid eyes on her in the comic (And believe me he was instantly smitten) her first words were, “Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot!”

Fun fact. They did a ridiculous amount of takes for the lunchroom scene, but Tobey actually physically caught all the items on the tray. Zero CGI involved. 100% hand-eye coordination.

Stan Lee's cameo in this is his most emotive. I love it even if it is barely seconds long. Does Addie know of Stan Lee cameos or what he looks like?

32:44 It's truly remarkable that Jameson never gave up Peter's identity as the photographer even when facing death with the Green Goblin.

@Addie counts i am 37 this year as of 2022. I watched this movie when i was 17 years. That was like 20 years ago. The movie was so masterfully made and created full with moments of emotions and passion. I dont feel this way in the newer spiderman movies anymore now ( or any other modern superhero movies) . I am glad you appreciate this movie , as not many young people your age watch this masterpiece. I miss the good old days and this movie reminded me of the nostalgia i had as a teen back in the day. Life was also simple back then without smartphones . Those moments are long gone now. I wish you knew how i feel in my time😃 nowadays it doesnt really feel the same anymore due to the smartphones and the advancement of technology. Glad you learn to appreciate old skool stuff. It is heartwarming to see someone young as yourself have an interest in the nostalgia. Keep it up and waiting for more videos from you. You got a new sub. I am from Singapore by the way.😊

Addie, a few thoughts: note a young Elizabeth Banks in a brunette wig as J. Jonah Jameson secretary Betty Brant, a role played by Angourie Rice in the current Spider-Man films. Then, when we first see the Green Goblin from a distance at the festival, it is reminiscent of the Wicked Witch of the West spelling out "Surrender Dorothy" in The Wizard of Oz. And, lastly, you missed the signature Stan Lee cameo.

Tobey is my favorite Spider-man, and he is the favorite Spider-man among fans. This movie is the most accurate comic-book version of Spider-man. The 3 Tobey Maguire Spider-man movies are all made by Sam Raimi. Raimi is a passionate Spider-man fan reading the comics growing up, he was the best person to make these movies. The other Spider-man movies are made by different people who didn't have the vision Raimi had. There have been 8 Spider-man movies in 20 years. Spider-man 2 with Tobey is considered the best of all the Spider-man movies.

It's hard to pick between Holland and Maguire. Tobey's Spider-Man is so sincere and lovable, but Tom is more believable as a kid and (IMO) a bit more relatable. They both have great villains. Tom's movies have the benefit of being part of the MCU, while Tobey's movies get a bit rough by the end. I'd say Holland takes it by a narrow margin. Andrew Garfield does fine, but his movies just aren't in the same league (the second one is under-rated though). But Shameik Moore absolutely kills it in Spider-Verse. Spider-Verse might actually be the best one.

A lot of reactors seem to think he’s looking at his crotch in that one scene where he says big change but I think he really was just referring to his muscles because he was talking to his aunt so it would be kind of weird to be referring to something else lol

Hey Addie, an interesting fact for you: This Adaptation of Spiderman, the original teaser trailer had Spiderman catching a helicopter that was serving as the getaway vehicle for some bank robbers And closed with the helicopter suspended in a web strungup between the World Trade Center Towers This was prior to the events of 9/11

Nicholas Hammond who played Spider-Man in the live action TV series that ran from 1977-1979 (and who, as a young boy crossed the Alps with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plumm er in THE SOUND OF MUSIC, 1965) has a cameo in this).

Glad you liked this and didn't have the spoiler of uncle ben so many know that coming in I didn't as a kid watching this and made movie that much better so its sad when people dont get that same impact knowing what happens, Toby is my favorite (Spiderman's :P) because it was/is nostalgic memories and first to see come to live action after loving the 90s cartoon, but tom Holland is doing a great job also great video cant wait for Spiderman 2

At least you don't have to wait to watch Spider-Man 2. Imagine how we felt waiting for the second to movie to find out if Peter and Mary Jane would end up together 😅😭 But it was worth the wait ❤️ I basically reacted to the movie the same way you did back in the day (Goblin's mask still freaks me out).

Tobey Maguire is everyone's favourite Spider-Man, not because he's the best Spider-Man, but because he is the best Peter Parker out of all of them. Thank you for this,, now I have to rewatch Tobey Maguire's excellent Spider-Man trilogy. Happy New Year... Cheers... :)
