I doubt most people understand the brilliance of this scene. During the first two movies, we learn to identify with Peter and root for him, a kind-hearted spirit that just wants to do the right thing. We follow him as he learns to be a good friend, a good lover, and a ultimately a hero. He's Spider-Man. Everybody wants to be Spider-Man. After all this, what does Sam Raimi do? He makes our hero hit his girlfriend, he hits her so hard she's thrown on the floor. Look what your friendly photographer became, a violent monster consumed by hate and petty feelings. The symbionte is just a metaphor for this. Do you want to be Spider-Man, now? Do you want to be him? Or you're just disgusted? Today they could never do a film like this, sending a message of such complexity. Everyone's good at having a bright moment and becoming a hero. But it takes real guts to STAY a hero, to avoid falling. Keeping always vigilant and watchful of the forces of evil outside, yes, but most of all inside of you.

Finally, someone said this. We grew up in times when movies like this and the dark knight trilogy were released with great layered messages while Marvel movies these days are just a piece of entertainment with over the top action and weak plot. Spiderman movies with Tom Holland as the lead are just simple teen movies with a lot of action and not much of a message and depth. I will always love this version of Peter Parker and Spiderman.

And in this movie, when her career is going bad she gets jealous of Peter as Spider-Man and goes right back to Harry

Agreed. Paul was a better boss for MJ than those two guys who fired her from the theater. He came to make sure she was okay and with knowing that Peter was giving her a hard time, he was willing to get him removed from the place. I'm sure though that after the two were dancing together at the end of the film, MJ sorted things out with Paul so Peter can be allowed in the club whenever he wants to see her as long as he showed good behavior and didn't make a scene again.

The most cruel thing is, even outside of wearing the alien suit, Peter is like that the whole movie, that’s why this movie sucks. They made our characters really unlikable. I rather watch Dark Phoenix & X-Men Origins: Wolverine, at least they still keep our characters likable when that movie franchise have worst movies sometimes.

After understanding MJ's character better over the years, and through different interpretations of her, I've realized that while Peter's actions are of a coward and a shameless man, MJ deserves what happened here, and even more. She just won't think about Peter more than she does about herself. She's not the only troubled human being in the planet, for God's sake.

If anyone ever wondered truly how a nerd like Peter would act off some symbiote, this is the best representation. Tobeys Pete really owns it here but he still comes off hella geeky which I love. I just love SM3!! Edit: plus I always forget it's canon that Peter Parker is a whiz with a piano(and dance it seems lol)
