Nah, Miles isn’t supposed to be the bad guy. But on Earth-42, there was no spiderman and crime flourished, leading Miles’ Dad’s death. Since he did not have that positive influence, he was influenced by his Uncle and became the Prowler. Also, he was more influenced by his Mother culturally, which is why his accent is more Puerto Rican than his version from Earth-1610 with both parents. Hope this helps!

I honestly put Across The Spiderverse up there with The Dark Knight and Empire Strikes Back as one of the greatest movie sequels of all time. Which is why there is no reason whatsoever this movie should not have been nominated for best picture at the Oscars. It just proves how little the academy takes animated movies seriously. There hasn’t been an animated film nominated for best picture since Toy Story 3 almost 15 years ago!

The Director said that the reveal that Miles is the first anomaly is a meta-commentary on what led to the creation of the first Black Spider-Man. Some fans believe that Miles doesn't deserve his power or belong in the mask.

If Miles hadn't been bit by the spider from Earth 42 he would have become the prowler of his universe. This has already been confirmed by the director. In the first movie when that Earth's Peter and Miles meet, Miles's spider sense colors change from green and purple (original prowler color scheme) to blue and red (original Spiderman color scheme) signifying his destiny shifting in that moment. Also if you look at a cross the sliderverse and the flashback when the spider was taken from Earth 42 you'll see that spider was on its way to bite the miles (with the braids) of that universe.

As I was watching the movie in the theater I thought Miles rescuing Inspector Singh actually contradicted Miguel's speech about canon events; Inspector Singh would have died from the event caused by The Spot & Miles, but they are from another Universe which means they shouldn't cause a canon event that would effect Pavitr's life as Spider-Man.

I was a bit apprehensive when I first saw the trailer for portraying Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 in an antagonistic way because Miguel is a far cry from a villain and he's also my all-time favourite Spider-Man in the comics but the movie did an amazing job for portraying him not as the villain but more like an opposing force. Also just to clarify, he is not part vampire. That was just a joke they made in the movie becuse he has fangs which can secrete paralyzing venom. And for the record, he was created in the early 90s, which is decades before Miles Morales or Spider-Gwen.

He's actively going against Miles, but he's still a hero, simply being an Antagonist doesn't take away from that. An example of this would be in Death Note, where Light Yagami is a Villain Protagonist, whilst the detective L is a Hero Antagonist.

Just one thing. None of the worlds are alternate timelines. They're completely separate universes. So even if alternate Miles might've been supposed to be a villain, our Miles might've been destined to be something else entirely. We only know he wasn't supposed to be Spider-Man (or was he actually?). It's also important to know that Miguel isn't some expert - he had one major bad experience and it has colored everything he's done since.

For whatever it's worth, DC and Marvel did do a run of comics together in the 90s called Amalgam. Where they mashed their heroes together (ex. Wolverine + Batman = Darkclaw) and it took place in an alternate universe. It wasn't very long running, but there were some really cool mash-ups and it was pretty nice to see DC and Marvel working together on something like that without a ton of ego. Probably will never happen now; too much money involved for them to do that with their multi-billion dollar movie properties.

Ironically, the while Canon event and Spiderverse collapsing, reminds me of a smaller publisher storyline, Valiant comics, and their Unity event. Miguel's concept reminds me of the Valiant villain to one of the main Valiant heroes, Solar. Obviously, its different, and embraces the Marvel storylines. But, that villian was obsessed w/ sectiona of time/parralell universes collapsing from other characters. Namely the hero Solar, trying to realign timelines and universes to get his way. And it was the vullain that pointed out that the heroes actions were decimating alternate universes and timelines.

Miguel is from Earth-whatever in the future . And he’s from the same universe as an another Spider-Man but they died or something. Thats in the comics. But I do believe it’s the same thing for this version. He’s probably keeping it a secret. Cause he shouldn’t be running the spiderverse. His story isn’t even the same as everybody else’s. So it’s bs to say miles doesn’t deserve to be Spider-Man. They really don’t need to all have the same stories. Cause some of them are different. Like Ben (blue sleeveless hoodie Spider-Man) he’s a clone . And Miles isn’t a villain at all. Miguel is full of --. If what he said was right, all of the universes would’ve been collapsed because of him being Spider-Man. I truly The spider was supposed to bite one of those miles. And since it did, it cancelled out the collapse. Miguel isn’t keeping the universes from collapsing. They’ll only collapse if certain spider people or villains shouldn’t be in another universe and/or another spider person intervenes or aid in another spider person’s situation. Thats the only thing Miguel is right about. Earth 42 miles was supposed to be Spider-Man. Listen to what his mom said. There is no such thing as Spider-Man in that universe. Meaning, if it would’ve stayed there, it would’ve bit him. Their lives are reversed. 1610 miles was probably supposed to be a villain fighting Spider-Man instead of taking over for him.

i agree with Miguel on this one, i understand where miles is coming from wanting to save his dad, but that's the reason why Miguel showed us the alternate Miguel's dimension and why it collapsed. When he tried to replace he's deceased daughter with the alternate deceased version of himself daughter who was still alive. where he's trying to replace her, that whole world caved in on it's self because our Miguel didn't belong there. it's that whole StarTrack quote "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" even though Gwen saved her dad because he quit he's job and stopped being caption, i believe she still has to face the cannon event with someone else being caption. and i think the reason they showed us Gwen's dad quitting is showing us that there's a way out for Miles's dad but i believe miles still has to face he's cannon event with someone else as caption. i tried my best to explain that the best i could.

well, 1: being fluent* in a language doesn’t guarantee you knowing everything perfectly (as we can see from miles speaking spanglish; “eso no es my fault”), and 2: im p sure that in university applications, you have to write an essay in which you describe why you wanna go to uni and all that stuff, but universities ususally find it “boring” when a person is just passionate about education or something, thus the lady in the scene tries to make miles out to be a struggling immigrant because it makes for a good story. also, it could be a racism moment- she assumes miles’ family is struggling just because he’s black.
