I absolutely loved Spot because he’s the first “scientist turned into a monster during experiment gone wrong” character who actually ACTS like a scientist. He’s constantly experimenting and picking apart the broader applications of his powers over the course of the movie. And unlike every other supervillain (who usually just tolerates having a kryptonite) when he realises he can run out of holes, he quickly brainstorms a way to get rid of the weakness by recreating the accident that transformed him on a much larger scale. He's far from the joke everyone sees him as.

I dunno if I'd go that far. Most characters tend to have to learn how to use their abilities, either through coordinated practice or happy accidents. just to clear things up each spider-person has MULTIPLE canon events not just one. Canon events are events EVERY spider person WILL go through at some point in their lives. So the death of uncle arron is just one of Miles' canon events as is Jeff's death. They're two of Miles' canon events. He will have more after and may have even had one or two in between. Confirmed Canon events from this movie: The spider-person gains their powers from an incident with a spider. (typically a spider bite but Peni and Spider-ham shows theres room for variation) Death of a closed loved one (typically a family member) to teach the spider-person a lesson of responsibility. Upside down kiss with a love interest. Spider-person Bonds with an alien symbiote. Death of a police captain close to the spider-person. Spider person temporarily quits and leaves their suit in the garbage. Spider-person is trapped under rubble and lifts it off themselves in a feat of strength and willpower. Spider-person gets married. Spider-person is buried alive by a villain and crawls out of their grave. Death of love interest (assumed, heavily implied by Gwen)

It makes it even more awesome when he then proceeds to shrug off the fear with his rebuttal to Miguel's face, a guy who is literally pinning him down and giving voice to Miles' self-doubts straight at him where he can't run away from them like he did before....so he doesn't. @@alexsilva28 I wouldn't say Across treats ASM90 as The Defining Canon Event, it just focus the most on that because it is the most relevant Canon Event to the story here. ASM90 may not have been Pav's Great Responsibility Moment, the point of his uniquely pleasant backstory could be to subtly reinforce the main lesson/ question of Spiderverse: Does Spiderman NEED trauma to work as a character? Pavitr has it real good compared to most Spideys, but he is still a good guy. Will Miles saving the cop and the girl doom Pav to become a villain? Or is that a ridiculous assertion?

Just to give an example of the great visual story telling. when Gwen's dad finds out it's her his background is blue split down the middle. The blue representing his identity as a cop and the split representing the conflict within him. when he decided to arrester it cuts away then back, the background is a solid blue, representing his choice. didn't pick up on that until like my third watch and keep finding new stuff.
@CxrtifiedRigga Жыл бұрын
To add onto that, when her background changes to her Spider eyes it’s because that’s all he can see her as, not his daughter but the spider criminal he’s been chasing all this time which influences that decision to arrest her

1:12:19 Yes, Eric, Yes. So much upon several re-watches of this movie, it's crazy. So, someone pointed out to me that Earth 42 Miles was supposed to be bit while he was at school (You can see the back of his braids during Spot's exposition) while our Miles was bit while he was blowing off his school work to do a graffiti piece with Aaron. Miles-Prowler was a good kid who went bad and Spider-Miles was a troubled kid gone good. Further more, in the first movie when Miles met his version of Spider-Man, and their Spidey Senses interacted with each other, the visual of Mile's senses were green and purple (Prowler's colors) but changed to red and blue to symbolize his destiny changing course. And because the writers are insane, Mile's is wearing a blue down jacket with a red hoodie at his father's party. When he ends up in Earth 42, he puts on a green down jacket with a purple hoodie, a subtle foreshadow of who he is that universe.

However, I had my first time ever trip to the US in June (and from my country it's a 10 hours trip) and when I came back in September, the whole flight was very quick due to the rewatch of not only Across the Spider-Verse, but also Guardians of The Galaxy vol. 3 (also my 2nd time watching) and HBO's The Last of Us (my favourite video game and again, 2nd time watching). My top 3 things that I've watched this year, simply perfect. Such an amazing film and you can feel the effort that went into making this a worthy sequel, not just "more of the same". I think what's great on a meta level about this story is that Miguel's rejection of Miles as a Spider-Man (and being "the original anomaly") echoes the initial rejection of Miles by some toxic fans when he was first introduced in Ultimate Spider-Man. I also have my own theories about how they will resolve the "breaking of canon" in the third movie, but I don't want to jinx it just in case I'm right!
