While there have been many high points in the MCU, one of the only times I have heard an audience audibly gasp (myself included) was 41:28 when Keaton answers the door. The following scene and the flat and direct way that Keaton threatens Peter in the car do so well to reinforce that this is just a kid. He may have super powers, but he's a kid. That scene, and then when he's pinned in the rubble, panicking and crying for help. His rally to build himself up to get out is amazing!

This movie was very different from the previous live-action Spider-Man movies that came before. Instead of going through the same origin story stuff, like the radioactive spider bite, Uncle Ben death, and everything. They pretty much skip through all that, and have this movie take place after Captain America: Civil War. At least this has some great action scenes and some funny moments. Even though this is like the second time Spider-Man has been rebooted, it’s still an MCU classic.

I like this movie, but I understand people's gripes with it. Some said this new trilogy really tried to make him Iron Man jr. In the beginning, which I can't deny. But they stuck the landing in the end, and over all Homecoming and it's sequels were a solid story

Did not have an issue with glossing over the origin story, since I've seen it many times. For someone completely new to Spider-Man, this might have been an issue, but I think they would be a small minority. I did like that they let Peter be a high-schooler in this trilogy. Tom's Peter has to deal with things like homework, after-school activities, and a bully (although Flash is not a jock this time around), and because he's a younger actor, it's much more natural. Toby and Andrew were both wtitten / directed too old for me to susptend my disbelief. Ned was a great addition, and I much prefer Zendaya's Michelle to Kirsten Dunst's MJ. Always happy to see Marisa Tomei on my screen, a great actress and still gorgeous. Keaton was a great villain, with a much more grounded motive than a lot of comic-book villains... at least initially. Looking forward to Kristin's reactions to the next two, when they come up in the rotation.

I think this is one of my favorite from the MCU. The personality and energy is a lot of fun, and Tom Holland plays that teen energy perfectly. Really like the detail of Tony and Peter’s relationship. You can see through the dialog that Tony is reading Peter’s texts, he even knew about the churro lady and contacted the FBI. Just like his father, he just failed at communicating. Though, you also see how Tony is trying to make up his father’s mistakes. A little disappointed we never got to see how that ending resolved.

I almost wish that Liz's Dad would have noticed how Peter was acting, misinterpreted it as him being a sophomore who can't quite believe he's taking a pretty senior to Homecoming. There's the montage of Aunt May trying to help Peter get ready and teach him how to be a good date, etc. It would've been interesting to juxtapose that with bits of Liz's Mom, sharing her misgivings about Peter. He's let Liz down before, you never know with these guys, take this pepper spray, boys that age are ... well, you can't trust them." Then they walk out to the kitchen and Liz's Dad is impressed with how seriously Peter is taking this date -- "Ease up on ol' Pete, here, he's a good kid who doesn't think of our daughter as disposable eye-candy. Remember when I took you--" "Yeah, you were a vulture at that age!" "Thankfully, times change. Come on, kids, I'll drive ya." I'm actually not sure if anybody in the movie directly refers to Adrian Toomes as "The Vulture," but that's where that comes into play. But the main point is to have this scene of Peter standing there with Liz's family while her Dad is just giving this kid a glowing review, defending him and talking about how out of all of the boys that Liz has brought home, he likes Peter the most. Which is wild, because in about two hours, Peter will have bailed on Liz, took out Shocker, and proceeds to make a huge scene with Vulture and this disco-ball-ass plane in front of all of New York City, where Peter beat the holy dogshit out of this man, then tied him up instead of killing him. Now everybody knows that guy's the Vulture, and he's alone, in prison, stuck with the knowledge that Peter ultimately helped his family more than he did, in the long run. And he respects it.

I thought this movie was solid overall. Not my favorite spiderman movie and not my favorite spiderman, but it was still a pretty fun movie. Unfortunately, the biggest problem I have with this Spiderman is that he feels too much like Iron Man Jr and not enough like Spiderman. The suit was ok but it had way too much tech and it basically had its own Jarvis. I wasn't a fan of Flash. He was a terrible bully. I'm not the biggest fan of Ned. They also took that from Mile's storyline which I didn't like, and there was no Harry or Norman Osborn. I do like Tom's Peter for the most part in this, and I liked seeing Tony in the few parts he had. I just wish they didn't overdue it with Tony. For me the movie wouldn't be as good without the Vulture in this. Michael Keaton was great and arguably stole the show for me. The best scene in the movie was when Peter found out he was his girlfriend's dad, and he found out Peter's identity in the car. I probably gave it somewhere around a B or B+.
