“What I like about the costume is that anybody reading Spider-Man in any part of the world can imagine that they themselves are under the costume." -Stan Lee

this comic really goes perfectly with what Stan lee says in that the reason he loves Spider-Man’s costume was because Spider-Man could be ANYONE. He could be black, Asian, white etc. anyone can look up to Spider-Man

again with Stan Lee's quote. This quote is literally taken from An interview in whichstan lee even said that giving spiderman a full on mask(mask that covers all of his face)was a mistake (in the sense it happened without clear intention behind it). It wasn't a mistake,it was Ditko's idea because when lee told him the type of character he wanted(someone that didn't have Kirby's type of phisique)and was a teenager.Ditko gave him full on mask to cover him and protect him from dangers of superheroe life. Stan Lee has said a lot of bullsh*t when he was alive like a lot of us but you are misleading the quote."the meaning of everybody can wear the mask"referencing to spiderman Means that everybody can identify with that character, that's it,and this is even justified because Stan Lee started creation of spiderman when he noticed that great majority of comic book reader are kids or teens.So he wanted a character they could identify with. Miles is not Spiderman and when people think about spiderman they think about peter not because of movies but became PETER has been spiderman since 1962,from comics to cartoons and even freaking cereals boxes. Miles after more than a decade still using Peter narrative arc as blue print and has no rogue gallery. Even villain in his movies all started as Peter villains,Kingpin.Prowler.Tombstone.Spot, For my own taste I don't like having all these spider copies. Miles has potential but he needs to detach from Spiderman:from name to rogues. This is why there's always a problem.this is why people like *Ben*,and Miguel and others work.they all have something setting them apart, scarlet spider, spiderman 2099, superior Spiderman,noir Spiderman,etc This is why those characters are beloved.they might have title of spiderman but they have something setting themselves apart from og. Miles used to be ultimate Spider-Man till they pushed "anyone can wear the mask agenda"Then they forced miles to be just Spiderman Why isn't Miguel or Ben even doc oc getting the same treatment?People just wanna see world burn Do you honestly want to keep some spiderman villians as miles villians and make them part of his rogue gallery forever ?I'm ok with that,make him interact with original prowler,gave him spot,hell give him even some(not too much)villians that will never be famous until they are part of spiderman rogue's gallery like grizzly for example. But then cut off the ropes, unfortunately I know this will never happen due to the popularity of movies.

@@YourLovelyGuy9442 when did I mention Miles? I have an issue with him being call just Spider Man too. What I meant with that quote was that this kid had an imagenery friend who was his hero Spider Man. He doesn't know how Sider Man looks like under the mask so he imagines him being black like many of his role models. This is what the quote means and why I used it. Not everything is meant as justification for bad opinions. Some things are just about the nice symbolism and coralation between a quote and a story

I just realized the point of the handshake and it's actually very sad. It represents the end of Lafronce's innocence. He's lost his mother, his home, and all of his childhood possessions all at once. His whole life has changed in an instant and he knows that nothing will ever be the same for him ever again. He has to say goodbye to his childhood because it no longer exists and that is a painful realization. And so his imagination tells him that he is now at the point in his life where handshakes are more appropriate than hugs. And it really sucks because in actuality, he really is still just a kid who had to grow up way faster than he should have. And grown ups have no need for imaginary friends like kids do... 😢
@placeholderdoe
@placeholderdoe Жыл бұрын
It’s sad with a tinge of hopefulness, yes his innocence is damaged. But he shakes hand with Spider-Man. He parted ways with his old imaginary friend that he needed. He doesn’t need Spider-Man anymore to get him through his days. So yes it is sad like any goodbye, but there’s a light on the horizon. Sad but hopeful defines Spider-Man as a series and as a character. Have an amazing day
@alecaquino4306
@alecaquino4306 Жыл бұрын
@@placeholderdoe That's true! I thought about it a lot since I posted that first comment. In the beginning, Lafronce needed Spiderman to help him escape all the bad stuff happening around him. Now that he is finally free of those circumstances, he doesn't need to run away from reality like before even though he's lost so much already. He'll miss "Spiderman" very much but now he'll be able to grow up strong with a family that will love and support him for the rest of their lives. And maybe he'll be able to grow up to be just like Spiderman and inspire some other boy who's going through the same trouble. It's a good ending.

@@yourfathersinferioritycomplex Yeah, this comic stays super grounded in reality-which I’m not saying fantasy is a BAD thing but this comic makes it seem something like what this kid experienced could’ve very much happened in real life: whether Spider-Man existed or not. It would be really cool if he got to ACTUALLY meet Spider-Man and Miles or even become a superhero himself but I feel like that would defeat the whole purpose of this comic and how it’s so realistic to the real world. Sometimes, anyone can be a hero to someone: whether they’re an ACTUAL hero or not.

So much symbolism. At the end, because Lafronce saw Spiderman as his hero, his idol he always looked up to, imagining him being their to encourage him, in the end, when he took his mask off, it's how Lafronce imagined what Spiderman would look like, since most don't know. There's such a level of innocence in that. This story was heartbreaking but also uplifting. Don't know how long ago it was written but I don't expect this level of quality writing to come from modern marvel these days.

I think what this comic was also trying to say was that it's important to find a hero, not only in life but also in yourself. Lafronce has an amazing imagination and is genuinely a great kid. It sucks that he had such a rough time but I know he'll be alright. The detail that I love about this story is that even if it's all in his imagination, he still has his hero to help him. He's never seen Spider-Man's real face but he doesn't need to. Lafronce will probably always remember his time with Spider-Man and I wish the kid nothing but the best

This way he could be there for him, cheering him up, giving him gifts and life lessons he couldn't have in his current situation and avoiding being spotted by social services. I love how Spider-Man doesn't just give a kid a pass, he tells the kid to be 'free' by educating himself, which can take effort and some bravery or courage sometimes. Only when people learn to work hard, and be responsible for their own lives, can they take control of their lives, instead of "allowing" themselves to be at the mercy of fate or rely on others. Sure the kid relies on his mom, but if he continues to do well in school, he can make something of himself. Seeing Spider-Man being a father figure to this wonderful young boy makes me appreciate Spider-Man more than I could appreciate Captain America.

I’m so heart broken for all of the kids that do t get help…that are trapped till the horrible moment comes and then something gets done…my parents became foster parents when I was young and we were lucky enough to have an actual good CPS in our area. Sadly one or two judges were not so good. Never liked it when they dragged feet or ignored the drugged out parents at custody hearings. I am so angry that there are so few good people who genuinely care and wish to help but can’t because of all the people taking advantage of the foster system and ruining it

7:08 At this point ngl, I predicted that this was gonna be the real spiderman and not imaginary spiderman to catch the reader by surprise and that the reason he'd know would be because the drawings left outside might've been the ones with the planes and the shootings grasping his attention. Turns out I was wrong but I'll admit to that.

This is a great story, I wanna see it appear in the beyond the spiderverse film, and the video was awesome, but I think if you put some lofi music in the background it would be better 👍

Yeah, I miss those times. When anyone could've been under Spider-man'e mask. No Miles Morales that is "thier" or "our" Spider-Man. Just one "guy" who saves everyone, regardless of skin color.

I don’t know why but “I love you Spider-Man. I don’t wanna go…” has me fifty kinds of fucked up. I don’t know, I think it’s the innocence of the line that kills me. Like it’s something only a kid would say especially a young kid, I can’t see Lafronce being above 1st grade just judging by his height and stature. Also the fact that “Peter” treats him and talks to him like a parent would.
