I mostly enjoyed being in a 60-person audience with laughing and cheering (2 weeks after my booster). I usually see matinees, and there was only 1 other person in Ghostbusters with me this year. But they didn't get the Matt Murdock reveal, so I was the only one clapping.

The audience reaction in the theater for this movie was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, it was so incredible to be in a room surrounded by excited fans, all laughing, crying, and cheering together. It’s an experience I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

Spider-man always comes through when the world is in distress. I remember watching the first spider-man a few months after 9-11. It brought pure joy when the world was scared. No way home did the same. Bringing sheer joy at a time when there is a lot of fear going around. He's the world's most popular super hero for a reason. there's no other hero who gives that sense of HOPE like spider-man.

I loved Spider Man NWH. If anyone has a Cinemark in their area, you can rent a theater for $249, and that includes 30 tickets ($8.30/person). It was a great experience just watching it with friends and fam. Very intimate. Will definitely be watching more movies like this.

I wanted to see NWH for my birthday on Friday but wasn't able to. I'm sure the movie would've done more than $250 million domestically if not for Omicron, but I'm sure the theaters will stay open as long as they can before they are forced to shut them down again. It will be great to see NWH hit a billion without China, and I think they will be able to accomplish the task by Valentine's Day 2022, if not sooner.

Believe it or not, I'm happy for Grace! You have had 50 plus weeks of pumping up excitement for theater movies. This week, you had alot of joy tonight and a joyful Grace is the best Grace! I think this shows that people will come out to GOOD movies. This Spider-Man movie was in the top 3 Marvel movies ever! I think Sony needs to concentrate on their heroes rather than villains. Also, even with all the leaks (which I was able to avoid), the people wanted to see this movie. By the way, in the Midwest, all of the premium shows (21 and older) for Regal were Spider-Man. Amy Pascal is like the reverse Kathleen Kennedy. I hope people don't forget this SMASHING success next time either Disney or WB tries to spin a box office failure into something else, a.k.a. In my theater there was a smattering of applause and one, YES, from me for Charlie Cox. Not many recognizing him to be DD perhaps. When Andrew than Toby hit though the place went wild. I'm from Kenya and the last time I saw sold out cinemas was endgame and of course there are other movies like black panther, infinity war and the force awakens that were at the same level. No way home is a great movie. Definitely making a billion. I loved it so much that I wanna see all the Spiderman movies again which are currently on Netflix here except for the Tobey Maguire spidermans

I’m excited because whole new groups of people were introduced to Toby and Andrew Spider-Man. Especially excited for Andrew because he was actually a great Spider-Man and he gets a lot of unnecessary hate and I forgot how amazing of an actor Andrew Garfield is.

I saw NWH Saturday in Henderson Nevada (neighbor of Vegas). Theater was packed! People started with masks but by the end no one had them on. It was a virus cesspool. Every showing this weekend was almost sold out just in this one theater. I got one of the last seats.

The good news if you call it that, is people from flyover country are the ones who don't want to get vaccinated, and they don't attend many movies. So I'm crossing my fingers that people in my auditorium took precautions and didn't come with symptoms. I don't trust the people that go to my friends' New Year's party to stay home when symptomatic as I always got cold or flu at their house. (They also have baseboard heat.)

I Really liked Nightmare Alley, but I think its score would be higher if it had a runtime closer to the original. The strong acting by all involved, and the cinema photography, couldn't prevent the film from feeling drawn out by about 30 minutes.

While I am excited for NWH (Marvel and Sony deserve it), I am still worried about the future of Hollywood and cinema in the long term when it comes to non-franchise adult films. So many have been failing or significantly underperforming in comparison if they had released even just a few years ago. And while I love the Marvel, DC, Bond, Mission Impossible and Fast and Furious franchises, just relying on a few key IPs and franchises cannot be a sustainable business model for the Hollywood and the movie theater industry forever. I hope you talk more about this Grace as I don't think it's not getting covered enough while we all celebrate this much needed win for cinemas. I don't think it's going away, especially since streaming services have exploded over the last few years.

It could be it's bread and butter. Similar to how businesses were in the red all year until Black Friday puts them in the black. Obviously you don't want to produce a movie that loses money, or barely breaks even.

Lucas and Spielberg foretold the inevitable entropy of “television” cinema years ago. The pandemic merely exposed the threadbare nature oh theater chains. Pretty soon, only event movies will be accepted by the public, which, as you stated, is an unsustainable market.

I was going to wait to see SM, but upon looking at the screenings for Christmas week, the showtimes are cut in half, and will not be showing on the premium screens. Also, I feel most saw it opening weekend (As with other big Marvel movies) as to not get spoiled because once I clicked this video, spoilers galore on the side recommendations.

They were literally FILMING multiple movies this year. Idk what else you want. Batman comes out really soon, Suicide Squad came out this year, there's animated content, they make the good video games they announced more movies for streaming and big screen. I'm very happy for No Way Home and for Movie Theaters themselves, very sad for everyone outside these groups. To see such a phenomenal movie like West Side Story (my favorite movie of 2021) bomb so hard, see Nightmare Alley totally ignored, and all other competition being destroyed is just not good. I love Marvel, super hero movies and nostalgia, but I don't want Hollywood to be just about that cause Cinema has much more to offer, and unfortunately we're making this happen by ignoring everyone outside this group. I'll be checking Encanto on Disney+ this Friday since I couldn't see it in theaters unfortunately and I'm very excited about it, and I will see Matrix Ressurections in theaters hopefully before Christmas.

Cinema is dead. People like comfort. Marvel is fun and comfortable. And when it was not comfortable (The Eternals) most Marvel fans did not like it. I'm happy for NWH because it sounds like a fun movie. I agree with other posts that Box Office isn't about quality or even COVID (where theaters are open) but giving the audience what they want. You don't need an attention span to watch Marvel movies. You don't need an inquisitive or open mind to watch Marvel movies. All you need to do is sit back, enjoy the spectacle.

I agree. This is bad news for cinema. How often does a movie like this come out? Evey single big opener in the past few years had DECADES of IP nostalgia. All of them. Not one single exception. Everything else is sinking. The other 2 big movies this year alone were F9 & Bond. Both are old IPs. This will not save cinema. Everything else will have to take a smaller budget or go straight to streaming. Less movies will be made in total. It will be nearly impossible for new directors to get their foot in the door.

Australia had relaxed most of it's Covid restrictions the exact day smnwh premiered here. Cinema numbers where huge and surely will add to international box office numbers.
