Sandman is probably one of the 'nicest' villains Spider-Man has. Former Avenger, regularly steps up to help people, best friends with Ben Grimm... he deserved some compassion in the end.
@ShynLamo

Sandman only existed as he was by accident. His original reasons for villainy were all for the sake of others(his family) regardless of universe. The dude simply was a man who faced many unfortunate circumstances and in many situations just needed help from others and it took him getting heroes attention to solve the problem. Dude definitely always deserves the treatment and respect both spiderman and the thing gave him. Even if they fought it was always an understanding that this dude is just willing to do what he must to solve a problem he sees when society refuses to help him fix it.

To me he was one of the most believable longtime villains to reform. Hated it when they reverted him to reunite the Sinister Six. Especially since there were suitable substitutes. And now that the Six is broken up again he gets killed off? Really hope (and doubt) this isn't the end of him.

I just want to bring up one of my favorite Sandman moments when they first started to reform him. It all started with the Thing buying Sandman a beer in a bar and gave him a lot of advice on how to move forward with his life. Then in a separate issue years later when The Thing was in the hospital all the villains tried to attack him and the heroes were defending him. But Sandman managed to sneak into the Thing's hospital room with a pack of cold beers. And they just sat together and drank for the rest of the day.

I really like stories where jjj knows Peter is Spider-Man like this one, because jameson has always had a huge amount of respect for Parker for who he is, but didn’t trust Spider-Man mostly because he didn’t know anything about who he actually was, when he finds out that Parker is Spider-Man and that it’s just an extension of him being who he is, he starts to change his tune, it’s almost like a mirror of flash Thompson where he was a huge Spider-Man fan because of how brave and selfless he is, but thinks Peter is nothing like that which is part of why he bullied him, but when he finds out they are the same, or like in that one comic where he never became Spider-Man and took a bullet for his aunt and uncle, flash gains a lot of respect for Peter because he values guts, strength of character.

This just shows why Spider-Man is such a relatable character. It's not all about the canon events, multiverse, crossovers or any of that meta stuff. It's all about an idea that people can put on a mask to be the best version of themselves for everyone, no matter what. And with this... this shows that Miguel O' Hara or Zeb Wells know nothing about being Spider-Man. Cause like Stan Lee once said: That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero. Rest in Great Power, Stan Lee. Thank you and goodbye.

Don't think it lastig past one story; but ever see when a group of Spider-Man's former foes : Sandman, Prowler, Puma, Rocket Racer, Silver Sable(?) & Wil O' The Wisp, formed a (very) short lived team to help Spidey out? Don't remember These "Outlaws" staying together as a group, but some worked together for Silver Sable's agency. When a bunch(!) of your ex-enemies got your back, that's a HERO. It's not about how villains are treated for me - Most heroes (Superman, Batman, etc.) will do the whole "you don't have to be a villain" spiel. I think what sets the Flash and Spiderman apart from others is the way they interact with people who aren't heroes or villains. Civilians are just almost ignored by the other heroes, like, yeah, they try to save lives, but they don't actually acknowledge them individually. Spiderman and Flash both have a relationship of most the people in their respective towns. Flash will spend his off time as a hero helping an old lady paint her fence, for example. They both are just friendly people, while the other heroes tend to be more like police, just doing their job to keep people safe, and that's it. This relationship aspect also makes it a LOT more tense when someone threatens to kill a ton of people. If the joker tells batman he's gonna bomb a hotel full of a thousand people, Batman's gonna try to stop him, but to him it's just "save a 1000 lives". But if someone threatens to destroy the flash or spiderman's town, it's not just human lives, it's the lives of friends.

Since Adrian Toomes / Vulture in the Insomniac games has spinal cancer due to overuse of his wings and Otto can’t treat him locked up, it would move me to tears if this comic was used as reference. Peter even said in a holographic-recording to Miles that he wants to thank Vulture for being one of the reasons he strives to be greater. He’s a crook, sure, but he’s like a weekly lesson. Despite all their conflicts, despite all Sandman did (although Flint wasn't nearly as bad as guys like Hobgoblin or Vulture) he didn't make his end more miserable, he tried to save him and when he couldn't, he made sure he died peacefully instead of alone and surrounded by hatred.

Sandman deserves the Venom treatment. He's been shown to be a 'some-what' good natured guy, when he had a heart-to-heart with The Thing and sacraficed himself to stop Hydro-man, in Spectacular Spider-man when he stopped the Oil Tanker from exploding, in Spider-man 3 where he was a father just looking out for his daughter. Why you hated spiderman that much?

Spidey didn't treat the Sandman like a human being, right? Like, he did...but more important, he treated him like a friend. He respected him despite their differences and conflicts. Hes the friendly neighborhood Spider-man after all. It's just nice how heroes like Spider-Man, Batman, the Flash, they can have these somber moments with some of their foes or otherwise misunderstood people, have these heart to hearts, and... yeah. Especially in their most dire moments. It's inspiring. Makes me want to be a better person.

I love the detail that in some of the panels on the beach you can see the sand already coming off

Imagine just seeing the guy you beat up like few months back just to see him slowly dying not from the beat up you did but from old age

I think dying peacefully at the beach is probably one of the better ways to go.

I feel like this is what's missing with the current super hero movies. Humanity. I don't know how to explain it. This level of sympathy. I feel like it's been missing lately.

Spiderman the my favorite super hero. Love to see him take on all the Avengers, these types of stories are just as good, if not better.

That's the thing about Spider-Man. His villians aren't just villians to him and he does genuinely want to help them if he can even though many of them hate him and constantly try to kill him.

Not sure if you could call someone a villain, if all they are is a victim.

I wonder how Spiderman is able to keep it all together when he witnesses and experiences so many tragedies in his life.

Not a surprise that Superheroes are good people, most of the time, and Spiderman is probably one of the best of them.

This is why i love both spider man and flash, there the only heros who regularly sympathize with there villains, treating them like people not monsters (and yes i know there not the only ones as we seen batman be sympathetic with some of his villains, it's just rare with him and most other heros, but spidey and flash do it the most often)
