Spider-Man: The Spider's Shadow is a tale that's more brutal than Kraven's Last Hunt but an interesting story to read. I'll put this next to my top 10 list of Spider-Man must reads. 1. Kraven's Last Hunt 2. Marvel Knight's Spider-Man 3. Spider's Shadow 4. Life Story 5. Spider-Man 2099 6. Ultimate Spider-Man(Bendis & Hickman) 7. Grim Hunt 8. The Lost Hunt 9. The Other 10. Shed. Other than that Uncanny video, Melanie!!

Great review! I loved this What If story! The art was amazing, the colors just popped and Chip's writing was awesome. Like you Melanie, I had it read it in one sitting and it left me thinking. There is a small follow up in Extreme Venomverse #5, if you're interested in reading that. It does involve the Kingpin, the remaining symbiote and Peter. That was a fun addition to Spider's Shadow, even though it was written by Kelly Thompson. Gurihiru did the pencils, ink and coloring for that issue as well.

This series started out so strong and felt like the last few issues gradually lost some steam but was happy to see he stuck the landing in this final issue. The trope of the heroes getting taken over by symbiotes feels so played out with recent Marvel stories, but was a good way to relieve Peter from being guilty by law for his crimes. They really ended it in a way that made your want more. Overall, it was a good series that I found to be something I could read again.
