Definitely, I've watched this movie so many times growing up. The push/pull between losing ones power, finding their identity and coming back. It was fantastic, my favorite comeback story even compared to the other movies you had mentioned on the list. I think there's a lot of exaggeration played out in those movies whereas this one didn't have all that, came very naturally. I think it may have to do with the times changing and how directors put a lot of effects on their scenes, I don't like it as much.
@theblackphantomhd3 жыл бұрын
The Dark Knight is the pinnacle of Superhero movies, because of its realism and the fact that it treats itself like a film rather than a superhero movie, portrayed by a classic villain with multiple ocsars.
@theblackphantomhd3 жыл бұрын
@@sudeshnamukhopadhyay5214 it is realistic, especially compared to other Superhero movies, and they used as little CGI as they possibly could too, even the Truck flip scene was done with a real truck flip. The Dark Knight is actually slightly better than Batman Begins, Heath Ledger's performance, puts it over it. The Dark Knight will always be the number 1 superhero movie until something else passes it. Spiderman 2 is probably the 2nd or 3rd best superhero movie, but it's not the first. It may be to some, but the general audience thinks that The Dark Knight is still number 1, not to mention that The Dark Knight beats Spiderman 2 in almost all statistical categories, it wasn't beaten in box office until Avengers End Game

Isn't that the very definition of selfless love? Isn't it about doing what's best for someone else, even if it means you might suffer in the process? MJ knew that at this point, Peter had spent the past two years giving all he had every day, to save and protect complete strangers who would never totally understand his sacrifice. That's why her words to him strike so close to home - "Isn't it about time somebody saved your life?" Neither of them are asking for anything more than what so many around them already have. They want to be loved, trusted, embraced, and fully understood. You can't get much closer than that.

Did you catch MJ's expression at the end? There was deep sadness. She knows that the choice she's making will be an unsure difficult path, and possibly a very dangerous one. She gave up love, security, a 'posh' life, but she wasn't 'in love' with her fiance. She had tried to get away from the insecurity that was always part of her childhood. Now she was accepting that insecurity would always be part of it because as she said to Peter, "I can't live without you." A kiss, then he's out the window and she on what would have been her wedding day, alone.

@@brandonc3361 - Tbh, in the first one, MJ was kinda ''experimenting'' love. She was with Flash (who really wasn't made for her -obvious reasons). Then Harry (and we could say the same damn thing -did you see how he was treating her?). Peter, on the other hand, is just perfect for her ; he sees her for who she is, he believes in her dreams and keeps encouraging her, etc. Remember, the only 'male figure' she had in her life is her abusive father who constantly made her feel like shit. Flash and Harry weren't good with her either. Only Peter. Her cheating isn't forgivable, but she ain't having fun doing it, she's searching for the one. - For John, I'm gonna be honest with you ; that was just horrible. I understand the fact that she has to say no to this wedding cuz he isn't the one she loves obviously (and you won't marry someone you don't love, knowing you'll be unhappy). She could have just told him before the ceremony or something instead of just giving him a letter that he read in front of everybody.... Honestly, that was not nice at all. And yeah, I agree that she was happy afterwards, but I guess it's the Oxytocin, knowing that she's going to the one she truly loves (by the way, what she told him was really beautiful '' isn't it about time someone saved Spider-Man? ''), and it is satisfying (as the public) because Peter really needed a break in this movie. - You're actually mistaking ; watch SPM3 again. MJ's okay with Pete being Spider-Man and she doesn't mind being with him. The thing she doesn't like, on the other hand, is Peter being ''full of himself'' because of his Spidey fame. I mean come on, when she was a her lowest and she just wanted comfort from Peter, but he kept comparing her situation to him being Spider-Man (he was making this about him) and she even reminded him. Then, he kisses Gwen and didn't even know what was going on in MJ's life (she lost her dream job). Really? I'm gonna be honest with you, Peter in SPM3 is kind of a jerk (until the end, when he pulls himself together). She's not a terrible person, she just made a lot mistakes regarding ''love''. Her character could have been better tho, this I agree.

This is an ending that makes this a good MOVIE rather than just a good super-hero movie. Peter is prepared for a life of sacrifice, and to walk it alone. There have been many of us who have relegated ourselves to such a position, thinking we had to do it and no one else could help. But then someone comes along that cares more about you than even you do. When MJ says, "Isn't it about time someone saved YOUR life?" it throws Peter a lifeline he never thought he'd have and when she says, "Go get 'em, Tiger..." he knows that she's got his back. I just thought that this movie fleshed out its characters a lot better than the first one. Doc Ock is my all time favorite villain and Alfred Morlina nailed his character. Sure, it didn't have as much action as the first Spider-Man. But it had better directed action. Like, the train fight is one of my favorite action sequences of all time.
@michaelmordecai78898 жыл бұрын
I agree about the train fight (stunning!) and the fight scenes in general, and I liked Molina as Ock. His reasons were sound, but didn't like the way they handled his character. In the comics it takes 50 years for him to reform, in the movie... 2 hours?

I got a better understanding and a high appreciated for that scene. It’s a look of worry, maybe slight regret, but also a look with love as she watches her new partner swing through New York. This ending is so great. The whole movie throws challenges at Peter beating him down. In these final moments he gets what he truly wanted all along, thus making the ending satisfying and well earned. Its also interesting to note that this ending is the complete opposite of the first movie. This ends with a wedding (sort of) rather than a funeral, Mary Jane now knows Peter is Spider-Man, and they are together now instead of just friends. This aspect especially makes the happy ending all the more earned.

"Isn't it about time someone saved your life?" I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard this line in the theatre. How long has that line been ripe for use in a super hero movie?How many lives have masked heroes saved? And yet, they often need saving too, but in a different way. This is a beautiful scene. I almost cried and am not ashamed to admit it. Both Kirsten and Tobey are perfect in this. I think it's worth mentioning that this GREAT Spiderman movie was written by Alvin Sargent. Do you know who he is? Look him up. Sargent was SEVENTY SEVEN years old when he wrote this movie. He also wrote some other superb movies like PAPER MOON and ORDINARY PEOPLE. Don't tell me age isn't a good thing for artists. The more you age, the more you have things to put on the page. You understand life and love and sorrows better. What a team! GREAT CAST, WONDERFUL SCRIPT, talented director. I love this film.

And leaving a guy at the altar just gets a free pass?
@reggiepark31559 жыл бұрын
Ok, I'll bite this thread. This will be extensive so bear with me, if you will. Mary Jane in these movies, was nothing more than a trophy. She was a character's girlfriend. She was a damsel in distress. Look at every Raimi Spider Man movie, she gets kidnapped in every single one. It is literally the same plot. She had no distinguishable personality traits of her own, she was passive aggressive, dating guys because she was the woman in these movies, and it was convenient. None of the spark and wit that the MJ of the comics had, AT ALL. She flat leaves a guy, after thousands of dollars are spent on a wedding, without even considering telling him beforehand. That is cruel. That 's very, very selfish. She does go to Peter, but guess what, in Spider Man 3, she ends up resenting him because she made that impulsive choice. And they break up, and BOOM!! Right back to square one! Peter in this movie, shucked his responsibilities, all because he was going after that blank slate that I just described above. Don't even bother making the argument, that "He was losing his powers". He was lovesick, and quit. He quit on his promise to be a hero, all because he was selfish, and let so many people in New York fall prey to danger. He flat out walked passed a guy, getting mugged, asking for help, acting like nothing happened. No call to the police, no "Stop!". NOTHING. Even if he got his ass kicked, that would've at least made his conflict more interesting. He spent 2/4 of this movie, mulling over a situation that he could've easily avoided, had he been brave enough to take on the responsibility, of knowing to look after someone he is in love with. He quit, and walked away simply because he "couldn't get the girl". Uncle Ben's death doesn't need to be discussed, because with Spider Man, it needs to happen. It's necessary, and detrimental to his growth. Tobey was just as rude to Uncle Ben in Spider Man 1, before he died. As far as Captain Stacy and Gwen that goes in line with Peter's growth. In the comics, Spider Man loses ALOT of people close to him. And has to endure, and push through. He learns through error. Sometimes fatal error. Captain Stacy chose to be there, do his job, and help Peter take down the Lizard. He was the one that made Peter realize the difference between, being a reckless vigilante, and actually helping people. He died, yes, he made Peter promise, yes, Peter broke up with Gwen yes, but how would you feel if you being a hero, and partially responsible for the creation of a reptilian beast, got the father of your girlfriend killed? Peter did break up with Gwen, after the funeral, (ironically how Peter snubbed MJ at the end of Spider Man1), but the main difference is, Gwen is actually an intelligent character, who's aware, has depth, is independent, and not to mention cognizant. The minute Peter does it, she walks away, turns around and says "HE MADE YOU PROMISE DIDN'T HE?!" Garfield's Peter was so overcome with guilt, he couldn't face Gwen, nor her family. He did break that promise, but that ended up being addressed in ASM2. He knows he's going against the wishes of a dead man, that trusted him, so he takes the bullet, and a broken heart, and does the right thing. Though Peter and Gwen can't live without each other. Gwen also made her choice to help Peter defeat Electro, which ended up getting her killed. But that doesn't mean, that Garfield's Peter is a "douche". He actually tried to stop her.. TWICE from helping him. He knew the danger, but let her help him anyway. So he was indirectly responsible for her destruction. If he wasn't Spider Man, then she wouldn't be there, and she wouldn't be dead. Side Note: (Unlike Mary Jane, Gwen willingly put her self in mortal danger just to help Peter up to three times. Even when he kept trying to keep her out of it, and keep her as far away from danger as possible) Garfield learned the hard way, but it's way more impactful, and way more of a harsh lesson in self accountability. You saw the direct result of what happens, when you break your word, and how it affects others. You saw the growth, and the harsh learning curve it puts the character through. But out of it, they become a way more mature person. That's why I look at scenes like this, and cringe. The whole argument that these movies have "heart", and that in the newer movies Garfield is an "irresponsible dick", when actually he is ten times more pro active, and cognizant than Maguire's Peter. There is no growth in the Original Trilogy. It was just ok for the characters to be selfish, leave their responsibilities, and be puppets, driven by the same exact narrative in three movies. You call Garfield a douche, when actually he took every hard lesson, he learned, translated that into moving forward, took responsibility for his actions, and enacted said lessons when it came to being a hero. Maguire quit, acted like a clumsy Steve Jobs, and not only that but in the Third movie, kissed another woman, IN FRONT OF HIS GIRLFRIEND. The end of this movie, regardless of it's "Score", Or cool "Swinging" completely refutes any lesson about responsibility the characters have learned. Peter just takes another man's girlfriend, Mj leaves said man at the altar, going to Peter in the same dress she was going to marry that guy in. That's not growth, that's padding, and wrapping a terrible message in a bow. Just because it came "first", it's not the best. The characters in the first trilogy, had horrible development, and never came that far by the end. To conclude this, I'll just point out something. Maguire quit being Spider Man, because of the stress, and mostly because he let a girl go, that he could have, no problem, but refuses to take control of his situation. He just throws it away, under some belief that him not doing it anymore, and not seeing his heroism through will bring her back. Garfield went through heartbreak, abandonment, helped support Aunt May, tried to be there for a friend who was going off the rails (harry) and didn't quit once. It wasn't even a thought. He just kept going, powered through, saw the road to it's conclusion. He only quit when Gwen died. He lost the love of his life, due to his broken promise, but had the strength enough to be able to suck it up, and move on after something like that. He actually learned something very serious. He learned how actions affect not only himself, but others around him. He actually was evolving into a man. Sorry, just because MJ is running in her "Cute Wedding Dress", and its shot like a Macy's Commercial, doesn't mean it gets a pass. You never felt like her and Peter could live without each other. Half the movie she was berating him. Then got engaged to someone else, out of convenience, and not only that, seemingly to make Peter jealous, and get his attention. Sorry but the characters in this series, were TEN TIMES WORSE, than anything in the Amazing Spider Man films.

In my opinion the reason this is the best superhero film and one of my favorite movies of all time is that it captures the core of Spiderman's appeal. A normal teenage nerd who accidentally acquired these great powers and uses them, not in the way a spoiled brat or a teenage bully would use them. He was the unpopular kid who was picked on in school, but he had the courage and character to help people like him and those in his community. It was the fantasy a lot of kids wished for themselves, to be appreciated for doing the right thing.

yay! Spider-Man 3 has a "Perfect" ending! :D
@gmoney19623 жыл бұрын
Here’s the problem with that statement. The reason why the MCU has so many post credit scenes is because it’s setting up future events. Endgame was the END which was why there was no scene. These movies also apply to that. They didn’t set up any future films. So, not to be a dick or anything but your statement is wrong
@Ponynstuff3203 жыл бұрын
@@gmoney1962 agreed. As much as I have a bit of an anti with the MCU, I do agree, since the Marvel Universe has a lot of villains and heroes, that there’s a large shared universe in movies, much like how it is in the comics.

You agree with my list?

alexis martinez Haven't seen The Empire Strikes Back yet along with any other Star Wars movie that is not a prequel. Don't worry I will watch them though. Haven't seen Prince Caspian and I don't remember the first Narnia so I'll have to see both of them. I loved Jurassic World and the original. The Dark Knight is not only one of my favorite sequels but is in my top 10 favorite movies in general of all time list. Don't like the F and F or Hunger Games movies so I don't watch them anymore. I'll have to rewatch both Stuart Little movies, and I remember loving the first Stuart Little as a kid. Don't like the Pitch Perfect movies.

I've heard some people criticize this ending because Peter and Mary Jane end up together in the end despite the fact that he spent a good amount of time trying to protect her and keep his secret, and they say "Well, what's the lesson we're supposed to learn then?" My answer is that once he finally is able to be honest with her and not have to hide anything from her, she can be honest with him and herself on how she feels about him so therefore he's rewarded for his honesty. And if you watch "Hero in Crisis" documentary on the special features, Avi Arad says during the documentary that Peter learns that what's really wrong with him is his secret and that there's nothing more destructive to the human soul than the things we keep from others. So I think the moral of the story in the ending is that once you have something finally out in the open, you can be at peace with yourself and others and you might even be rewarded just like what happens to Peter.

0:37 The symbolism within this trilogy is astounding. Everytime I come to the comments or watch the movie over I notice something new. Here's one I've never read about, Harry's bowtie. Just moments before, Harry discovered the Goblin lair and now he's sporting a green bowtie to the wedding solidifying his motives for the next movie. Absolutely amazing ♡ He's "taking control". Great job to everyone apart of the Raimi team for these little hints ♡
