Marvel themselves were even playing into this idea for a few years and in one guide book listed Peter as the least compatible host venom ever had, nut with the retcons in this story, it's going back to what venom would say/believe in the 90s and early 2000s of Peter being his true perfect host

Honestly it’s an idea I’ve wanted for the longest time, Peter and the Symbiote “bonding” again. For years I always saw the Symbiote as a scorned love, it wanted Peter and wanted to help him so bad, but got lost in the sauce of adrenaline and kicking ass so much that it lost its way. Which also made Pete’s decision to get rid of it so much more difficult for it to process. Cause the funny thing is, that external media always turn the Black suit Spider-Man saga into a “athlete on drugs” story, when in reality, the opposite is true in the comics. Peter and his life were the drug that the Symbiote was addicted to, he was basically the perfect host. When Peter and it split, it lashed out, it bonded with so many more in a bid to catch that high. As it said, it never truly wanted to kill Peter, the Symbiote was just too addicted to the rush of a host like Peter that it became insane and needed to hurt Peter to prove it was better off without him. And in there lays the fault of the Venom Symbiote, every host is playing a different tune than Peter. Peter’s main thing is that despite having amazing gifts, and even when he got enhanced powers from the Symbiote, he never abused them. He respected the power that was given to him, without knowing it, he was being kind to the Symbiote. Whereas everyone after abused the Symbiote. Eddie used that power to hurt and to take his failures out on people that put him in his place, Flash while an amazing person, and a true hero, was using the suit to cosplay spider-man, to finally live up o what he thought was the greatest hero of all time, and be spider-man. The symbiote was stuck with people who themselves were chasing the high the symbiote offered, whilst forever the Symbiote just wanted to be with Pete again and feel the high. So yeah, I know they won’t keep Spidy in the black suit for long, but honest to god I hope they do, and it leads to amazing stories down the road.

I LOVE your retrospection here, but I do have a correction...unless you're talking about later stories, when Peter first got the symbiote, it didn't really do a lot for him other than change into civilian clothes when he needed them and basically provide unlimited webbing. It didn't enhance his strength or size, it didn't produce tendrils for him to grapple villains with, it didn't act as "another spider-sense" or "eyes in the back of his head." It didn't give him the teeth or the claws. Heck, even though the changing clothes thing was awesome and Eddie Brock would later show the potential, Peter barely made any really good use of it! I know in later stories and "What Ifs" Pete got all sorts of awesome enhancements, but not in the initial story. Sorry if I'm being a nitpicker, I just wanted to clarify. Still love your take! Very well thought out!!

I personally love this characterization of the Venom symbiote. It's honestly really sad and kind of heartbreaking to see the symbiote of all things at its lowest point. Not Eddie and the symbiote, not Dylan and the symbiote, but Venom alone. And seeing a more mature and experienced Peter Parker actually open up and consider the symbiote's own thoughts and feelings is super heartwarming. That is what Spider-Man would do

I really like the retcon of Venoms origin, I think it adds to it more than it takes away. The symbiote could still say it was mad at Peter, but it still learned from him, that’s why he kept the symbol and why the bind was so perfect, Venom wanted to save Eddies life by giving him what he wanted, which is why it got so complicated because deep down Venom wanted it too

One thing I love to see is other characters in the Marvel universe recognising just how good of a person Peter actually is. From Daredevil to Emma Frost and now the Venom symbiote - let alone the countless others throughout the years! Despite the hardship Marvel editorial feel obligated to put Peter's character through, given the nature of his origin and every-man relatability, it almost feels cathartic to have other characters acknowledge his good heart and sacrifice, just to show that his efforts as a hero aren't in vain or unappreciated (like the Daily Bugle's former editor-in-chief would've had us believe).

After seeing the Symbiote became better after being Flashes host and Eddies host after his redemption Peter is allowing Venom to open up to him .

Honestly, I love "Symbiote Spider-man" so much, that I wouldn't mind seeing a storyline where Peter serves as KING-IN-BLACK for a few issues. While I'm debating on how I feel about the Eddie not having cancer retcon, I do like the inclusion of Venom viewing Peter as as a saint like figure I think is a cool decision to make. Afterall Venom is correct, his morals and views initally varied from what Earth's were but as he's grown and worked with others he has a more defined view of right and wrong that I enjoy.
