@@Randomfactsforyou12 Simple advice: dont show them tricks anymore. If they want you to fail, they arent interested in seeing magic, you shouldnt force your magic on them. Alternatively, if they are close friends, you can just take a different approach. Instead of "Let me show you a magic trick." Say "May I show you something that I am working on / that I have been practicing?" Many people want to figure out the tricks, thats just human, but if you dont present it in a "look what I can do" but instead in a "I worked hard on this, do you like it?" way, they will be much nicer an dont try to heckle you.

Yeah, there's definitely some risk to the trick. I mean a spectator who wants to just fuck with you can name a completely different card at the last moment. That's why it's good to put that "I don't even know if this worked" type language in there. And be able to quickly pivot to a different trick. But in general, most people want the performance to work and will follow along with instructions.

This was being done by a co worker, and he got frustrated that when he showed, which I now know, like 6 cards and I said no. He got super pissed off 😂😂😂😂. It was the 8 of clubs, way deep in the deck😂 Edit, cause the coworker said think of a card, it can be any of these. And i chose a random one. Agjelos Gjana thats just poor audience management. What if they do that for any other trick? What if they throw your deck of cards on the floor? The thing we have to realize about magic is we are sharing our passion with people. If the person is a complete a$$hole who wants to ruin the magic, then don’t do magic for them. Do it for someone else who isn’t a di€k

Some people say "knowing the trick ruins the magic" but, at least for me, that couldn't be further from the truth. I know it's not real magic, this isn't how real magic works, and when you know the trick, you start to see it happening in front of you like a perfectly performed dance. Stage Magic is a beautiful and stunning art even when you know what you're looking for, keep doing what you're doing.

Awesome trick and great explanation video! I have 2 alterations you might like. 1. At ~7min, instead of either cutting the 7 cards or doing the face up 1,2,3 and throwing the rest on top (~9min) depending on if they saw your card or not -> instead ALWAYS cut the 7 to the top. But now the difference is ... if they saw their card -> it is either the #4,5 or 6 card on top as before. But if they did NOT see their card -> their card is the #8,9 or 10 card on top so you just peal off 4 extra cards before you start peeking and the rest of the trick is the same. This way you can cut the 7 cards as you as asking them if they saw their card and since you go through the first 7 so deliberately, they couldn't have missed it if it was there. 2. The transfer (cut) of the 7 face up cards (possibly including theirs) seems a little funky to me, but a great cover is to do a super easy fake move after it as follows. Flip deck to face down. Cut about 15-20 cards to the bottom and put in a pinky break (these include the important cards). Then continue with an honest overhand shuffle. Then cut to the pinky break and put the cards on the table and finish the cut by putting the important cards on top. Now you are ready for the standard reveal. Hope this helps.

@advandepol7537 2 жыл бұрын
Is a good additional idea. I think he wants to keep it simple for explaining. Would be nice if you can get the three top cards under the 7 bottom cards in the alternative case. After some tries I managed to do this in an efficient way. The top three cards you can get under sloppily, and while doing the rest of the overhand shuffle you can bump against those three cards to get them almost neatly under, having your pinky out of the way and keeping the break with your thumb.

I gave my friend a deck of cards, then made them shuffle it. Then I asked him to think of a card (they still had the deck in their hand) after that I made him choose a number between 1 and 52. He chose a number so I told him to start counting from the top of the deck until he reached his number (cards face down, also the deck was still on his hand). He counted the cards and when he reached the number I told him to reveal the card. It was his chosen card. His expression of pure disbelief was awesome, same as mine because it was just pure luck.

Thanks for making this video. One thing I really admire about this trick is that, although it makes perfect sense now that I understand how it’s done, I’m pretty sure I could never have figured out the trick even if I had watched the “performance” a large number of times. That is, I know virtually nothing about magic but when I see a new trick (say on “Fool Us”) I can often figure out the trick (say, about 2/3 of the times) if I replay the video multiple times. But the basis of this trick -I.e. the simple card counting, etc- I’m pretty sure I never would have figured out. Now, I realize that if I were more knowledgeable about these things I would probably know about techniques like this. But still, to my mind, it seems so out of nowhere. I guess I’m saying the bottom line is that watching things like me only help me appreciate the genius and the inventive skill that goes into developing a trick like this. Once again, thanks for making this video. I can’t wait until I can perform it for my daughters.

Awesome trick! Heres something I picked up on about this trick and would like to see you do a version of! Place all three cards in your hand, double break. "I'm gonna stop there, your card is right here in my hand." Maybe even push the deck aside a little. Ask what their card was, and do the appropriate turn to reveal their card in your hand. This will remove all thought of the deck, as youve said the card is in your hand. Theres questionable feelings happening when the spectator isn't sure whether to expect their card to be in your hand or to come from the deck.

I instantly figured it out. You’re asking them if they have picked a card yet and asking if they’ve seen it yet, then you are only showing them certain groups of cards to narrow it down. I’m going to watch the explanation to see if my guess is right.

In 1963 i was reading Dai's column in Genii magazine. Have you ever seen some of those old articals he did? There are so many gems floating around in those, sometimes between the lines. I still have like 5 years of old Genii mags from those days. Sometimes i'll pull one at random and read his thoughts for that month. Really an amazing man!! Thanks for sharing this Spidey its a fantastic effect...!!! I hope the younger readers appreciate just how easy it is to find this kind of instruction now. It hasn't always been so.

Pausing at 2:25 to say that while I think I know how this trick was done, it's incredible just how tight the tolerances are. I saw six possible selections, and a single yes/no question that brought it down to three. That means you need to have the three candidates for the reveal. Presumably they were on top of the deck, on top of your pile, and prepared as a double-lift. Really looking forward to watching the rest of the video.

I sat on this for a year. I watched this periodically over and over again. I practiced and still wasn't doing it justice. (I was thinking to much and it didn't look natural to me.) I could do the effect. But it was stagnant. I had to get rid of those little pauses and speed bumbs. (That came from thinking about what comes next while at the same time talking all at once.) Once I got my mouth to do one thing and my hands another. I had reached my goal! Like Spidey said, "Make it second nature where you don't have to think about it." Now this too has become one of the go to Impromptu effects I do! Thanks Spidey for sharing such a wonderful effect.

Yeah this is a solid effect that you wisely performed without any theatrics or bullsh*t psychological "explanations". I use a slightly different method that relies on the same principles. I'm also careful to manipulate their memory of events by asking, "You mixed the deck yourself and could have thought of any card in it, right? Does everyone here agree?" (they always do) which strengthens the reveal, while causing them to forget that their choice was strictly limited to only a handful of cards, none of which you needed to know in advance. I'm not a fan of mentalism so only have like, three such effects in my whole repertoire, but this is one of them.

I actually double undercut the 7 bottom cards to the top, regardless if they saw their card or not. If they did see it, then I deal off 4 cards to prep for the reveal. If they didn't see their card, I deal off 8 cards to prep for the reveal. This eliminates the need to shuffle 3 cards to the top if they didn't see their card.
