I grew up there post war and even visited Rotorua as a child. It was lovely to see how Ross charmed everyone with his con except for the down to earth coppers who were used to dealing with con artists. A charming little film.

Well, well, well, this Syd Ross affair, what an extraordinary case! Why on earth have we, in the Northern hemisphere of this planet, never ever heard of it? I guess it's because it is too embarrassing to see to what extent human gullibility can be stretched. Anyway, the film and the cast are excellent. A must-watch I daresay.

Just came across this a couple of weeks ago, and I watched it last, it's quirky funny, NOT THE NINE O'CLOCK NEWS,OR THE UK,THE OFFICE, I was in stitches when U first get to hear the general,the head of intelligence voice,all I could think of was a northern England miner's union rep from the 80s brilliant 👍👍👍

Lights! Too dark... Most interior scenes are shadows... New Zealand films & series usually show authorities as intelligent.
