I don't really intend to defend her because she's a piece of shit, but Spike did sort of bring it up first by joking about the "transformation" thing and seeing as how they sort of discussed MJ's career sequentially from the beginning.. I think it's fair to sort of bring up him having this eccentric image that was often seen as off-putting, be that correct or incorrect. He was pretty much the biggest superstar of all time and considering that's what he was.. his public image is worth discussing. I get that she was under educated on what she was talking about and didn't bring it up in a very tasteful way though. In fact, I think that *maybe*, aside from recent controversies, a lot of people have either forgotten that MJ was seen in a negative light by the public at large for a long period of time or they are too young to know about that. It may be a positive thing in a lot of ways that that has been forgotten, but also it's a part of cultural history and needs to be known for education purposes.

Bad is the second biggest selling album, and Dangerous, History and Invincible outsold all of the other albums that came out. The media downplayed the success of those albums. The media downplayed his songs because they didn't want his albums to sell. Not only that, when Thriller came out, there was no internet, so there wasn't any music piracy on the level it is now. No one’s albums can sell like that anymore. The media doesn't bring up that fact when they talk shit about MJ.

Michael changed people's perception of race by illustrating throughout his life that it doesn't matter if your appearance is "black or white." Race is not a color, it is a function. Rev. Al Sharpton said it best at the July 7, 2009 Michael Jackson memorial service, "To the children of Micael Jackson, wasn't nothing strange about your daddy. It was strange what your daddy had to deal with."

The only thing I didn't like what that Spike didn't correct her about the "skin bleaching" comment. MJ only depigmented his upper body because he was a public figure and couldn't go out into the spotlight with his vitiligo showing. spike lee has a crazy ass laugh, ha ha ha. you always think a directer like spike, who makes all the intense movies like malcolm x, get on the bus, etc... will be so .... serious and intellectual and talk with their hands cupped around mouth, etc... but he seems like... your uncle at the barbecue or something. haha @5:41
