But also never blinking during a fight helps alot not missing nor allowing an opportunity to attack pass by, even spike is aware and uses it along with his poker face the whole time if im not mistaken he was just so good with his martial arts while Asinov had decent brute force more or less martial arts training where it counts keeping his opponent in his sight, but in some way I do understand why Asinov saw his attacks coming but could not dodge/block them other than that spike was just too good at it, and I presume Spike let himself get choked out by Asinov earlier to pick pocket the merchandise from Asinovs Trench coat, I bet he was counting on the female Asinov was with to Plead for Spikes Life and also counting on Asinov to listen to her, that is just very interesting! He does use lot of Bruce Lee's moveset; nose flick, one-two feet movement, same direct kick and punch, etc. The character creator for the show was very keen on the idea of making Spike fluid in fights, wanted to make him stand out in a spectrum of hard-hitter/power-creep anime leads, for his goal he took a lot from Bruce Lee to create Spike, and I still think to this day Spike's fight scenes are unmatched.

One thing I like is how clever Watanabe gets with the references so take this scene for instance. Spike's dressed up as The Man With No Name from Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy and Asimov being an obvious homage to Antonio Banderas' character from Desperado. Robert Rodriguez has stated plenty of times that he was heavily inspired by the Dollar's Trilogy and basically tried to do his own take with his trilogy so looking at it that way, it's like Spike's the OG showing his imitator how it's done

Some Samurai Champloo parallels for me here. For one, the music. The song here is called Rush, and it’s very similar to the song used in Mugen and Jin’s first fight in Samurai Champloo; the song being called Sneak Chamber (primarily the bass). Both fights being the first chance we see what the main character/characters can really do in a fight. Besides that, Spike is voiced by Steve Blum and Asimov is voice by Kirk Thornton. In Champloo, Mugen is voiced by Steve Blum and Jin is voiced by Kirk Thornton. I don’t think this was all intended, but is fun to draw similarities.

This part is what usually sells most people I show Cowboy Bebop to and I don't blame them. This fight sequence is fantastic.

This still holds up fantastically...Why Netflix decided it needed to be "updated" is nothing but pure greed and disrespect for this.

The different planets in the show houses different cultures. Like the really cold planet with no women had russian text

Then there's Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Spanish in the rest of the series.
